Once you leave Amarillo there isn't much out in the panhandle of Texas. But in Vega there is a nice little rv park run by the friendliest old fella. We have enjoyed our stay here and if in the area in the future we will definitely stay here again. There's not much in Vega but there is a great Mexican restaurant right across the street from the park. It's called Roosters and their crispy relleno is delicious. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Perfect for an overnight stay. Easy off/on from I-40. FHU all good. Sites are level and grassy. A bit of noise from the interstate, but tolerable. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is just a place to park for the night....basic services, and there was no wifi network showing up even though the owner gave me the password. We had to pay $3 extra because we were "big" (40 ft) according to the owner. He assigned us #5, but we chose a different site because we would have been facing the sun. I suspect he gave us #5 because there was probably wifi there...but we didn't see any extender antennas anywhere. This is a fairly small rv park, grass sites, but they were level. There was 50 amp service, good water pressure and sewer, so we had all we needed...nothing more. It was extremely windy when we were here, but I noticed he had planted a row of trees to block some of the wind. Owner was pleasant enough. I would only come back if there was no place better to be. It was easy to get here off of the highway. We told the owner we would like a site in the middle of the park, and he told us he didn't want us to park there because "people always run over his stuff"??? The park is pretty neat and no trash around. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a "nothing special" RV park in a convenient location. Its easy on and off the interstate and big rig friendly, but little else. The laundry facility is OK, but open to the public. The men's room was dingy; the showers didn't have hot water, and the light fixtures were full of enough dead bugs to become a fire hazard. Nevertheless, Walnut RV Park is reasonable choice for a quick night's rest. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Perfect stop for a cross country trip. Small mom and pop RV park. Clean and tidy. On Route 66. Very little noise from the interstate and 66. Level grassy sites with full hook ups. Clean laundry facilities. Friendly owners. We would stay here again. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

A good stop for an overnight. FHUs all fine . I had no problem with wifi but my wife couldn't get on. Grass sites but long enough for our 40' MH and toad to stay connected and level. We don't use their restrooms, showers or laundry because we have our own. This is all we want or need for an overnight. If they could just turn down the wind, but that is what makes the wind generators go around. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was for the daily rate. A VERY nice park right on Historic Route 66 just off I-40. Spacious reasonable sites are well kept. WiFi, electric, water, and sewer all first class. Huge laundry room. Very secure park as friendly owners are are onsite. Roosters TexMex restaurant right across the street (Historic US 66) and is rated 4.5+ out of 5.

We stayed a night. Then another. Then a week and will be going back for a month. 30 miles to Amarillo or NM border. No pool but for those people who spend a lot of time in RV parks, this is the kind of place that just "feels right". We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very polite older gentleman checked us in - cash only. Good for an overnight stay, but I would not stay longer. The bathrooms were on older side-no latches on the doors to the stalls it showers. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Older park, but in pretty good condition. Easy access from highways. Very basic park, but great for a night. Close to freeway, but not noisy. Pet owners, be careful of stickers and foxtails. Not their fault, goes with the land area. Also be careful and expect high winds all the time...wind farms are there for a reason! We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

Price paid includes the 50 amp surcharge. Good overnight stop while traveling I-40. Power is clean. Sites are long enough that we didn't have to unhook our towed. We will stay here again if we need hook ups but I feel that $25/night is over market value for this campground. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

Basic overnight park. Easy access but away from the highway a bit. Still quite a bit of road noise but there was a strong wind from that direction. Electrics have been redone. A few long term units but lots of space for transients. Store seems to be closed so the office is the owner's kitchen. Nice folks. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very basic campground suitable for an overnight stay. The park had plenty of pull through sites with basic hookups and nothing else. The freeway is far enough away that truck noise could be barely heard. At $22 a night it is a good deal. A caution for pet owners - the grass is full of foxtails. We could not pick up Amarillo TV stations with our equipment. The owner says the park will be full the month of May 2015 with construction workers installing wind power towers. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is great for a one night stay over. The sites are level. No frills park for sure. However we did not see but just a few full timers here as well as the owner was quite nice. So I don't know about the previous posts about the owner being rude and full of full timers. At least that was not the case when we stayed. We stayed here in our motor home and would stay again for an overnight stay when back in the area. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a good little overnight park. No frills but well maintained and restrooms and showers were clean. We would use this park anytime we are near Vega and need a place to spend the night. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate was for 50 amp/nightly and park accepts cash or check only. Easy access from I-40, some highway noise, but not objectionable. Nothing is paved in the park, all gravel and dirt with little grass. CG is on a flat plain so all sites are fairly level. Wi-Fi advertized, but no signal at our site on east side of park. Weak Verizon 3G, strong AT&T. Most of park is occupied by long term but quiet residents. No cable TV, but good satellite access from most sites. We didn't check over the air TV, but should be some OTA available from nearby Amarillo. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.
