I enjoyed my two day stay at Alamo River RV Camp and would recommend this campground to anyone who want to enjoy the outdoors. The campground is near the banks of Medina River where there are deer that come out at night roaming the tent side of the campground. In the near future they are planning on offering horse back riding along with lessons. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Our experience was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed the campground, it was well taken care of and clean. The only complaint was that we had to complete too much paperwork. Decrease the amount of paperwork for campers to fill out. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Very clean campgrounds and helpful personnel. Even though we were in electric site, above river accessible primitive sites, I would go back to camp along river and under beautiful shade trees. Note this would be a good destination for equestrian riders. There are a couple of equestrian sites in primitive camping with a corral each and there are a couple of nice stalls/run available. Did not have a horse with me at the time but the trails looked well taken care of. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Truck Camper.

Next to dog rescue shelter - they bark all the time day or night. We were given rules on how to dispose of trash and to keep the site clean, but live in camper sites (permanent residents) are not clean and their sites are nasty. Office employee rude and not helpful. Fire Ants everywhere on our site; we asked to move and were told the sites next to us were booked so they offered a site between live-ins. Had to take care of cleaning the site ourselves. Park told us they would handle it but after parking said they couldn't. The two sites next to us was still vacant when we pulled out. I would never stay again nor recommend it. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Jackie
I'm the owner and take action with any problems personally and promptly.

You arrived just after a huge rain and in Texas, we do have fire ants. The office did offer to move you but your husband declined.
The dogs next door I have no control over. They are supposed to have a maximum of 4 dogs but have way too many. The City is now in process of reducing the number of animals that are to be on their property but since I cannot control the problem I just have to be patient and wait like everyone else.

I must take issue with your statement that the office staff was rude. I would not tolerate that in any of our staff. The majority of our reviews countermand that observation on your part. Reviews are taken very seriously and yours I feel is not a true statement about our park.

If you would like to discuss this with me personally I invite you to contact the park and I will oblige.

We enjoyed the cows and horses nearby. Has a ranch atmosphere. Roomy sites, nice dog park with lighting at night. Plenty of dog walking areas besides the dog park too. Laundry is adequate. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were there during Christmas and they had nice lights everywhere. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a wonderful stay at the Alamo River RV park. The staff was very friendly, very competent and willing to go above and beyond whatever needed to be done to make our stay absolutely wonderful. since we were new to Texas and this particular area, they were very helpful giving us directions helping us find things that we wanted to see. Again A1 service. We have a 39 ft motorhome and we were towing a car. Easy in and easy out. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Our first visit at Alamo River RV with our new RV and I was pleased with all the amenities. The staff was extremely friendly and there was even a small store in case we forgot something. The dog park was perfect for our Aussie. We stayed in the lot close to the entrance, decent gravel lot with a large grassy area and picnic table. We walked past the cows and donkeys down to the Medina River. Absolutely gorgeous down in the tent camping area. The train horn seemed to blow every hour Friday evening but rarely blew Saturday. Nice little RV park, I would definitely recommend, especially for families visiting their graduating airmen from boot camp at Lackland AFB. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This place is gorgeous. Right at the Alamo River. Charlie and Roxie are as nice as people can be and they are very kind to military and veterans. It's quiet and beautiful with lots of places to wander. I highly recommend the Alamo River RV Resort. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This friendly family run campground is located in a nicely rural setting about 17 miles SW from the tourist epicenter of San Antonio, including the historical Alamo, San Jose Missions National Park, and the charming downtown San Antonio River Walk with its old churches (visit the San Fernando cathedral). The 97 acre Alamo River RV Ranch only includes "Alamo" in its name as a widespread SA area marketing tool; the river that flows along it is actually the Medina River (there is no such thing as the "Alamo River," though there is in fact a "Woman Hollering Creek" in the region!). As others have mentioned, the upper part of the RV Ranch is developed as a standard private RV campground, with many pull-through, full-service gravel sites with a picnic table and small grassy area. Semi-permanent residents appear to be parked around the perimeter area, some evidently working in nearby oil fields and mostly in trailers, but they mostly keep to themselves. The first night we arrived a bit after the gate closed, but were able to get quickly ushered in to our site. For most of the week it was quiet, though the Thanksgiving weekend got busy and we ended up with a big family including a trailer and tent adjacent to us. What truly distinguishes this park is the spectacular lower area next to the Medina River, reached by passing by the horse and cattle acreage. Down there are water-only sites reachable by dirt roads, but was primarily enjoyable to us as a marvelous example of quiet, unspoiled South Texas parkland with many deer and birds (look for the white doe). While we typically gravitate to state and county parks, this had some of the feel with a strong WiFi to boot. There is evidence of pride in the maintenance of the restrooms / showers / laundry and congenial staff with engaging stories to tell. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

My family and I camped here three nights in a 33' travel trailer. The campground is set up nicely with large sites. It is conveniently located. Far enough from San Antonio to give you a camping feel but close enough for food deliveries to your site. It is a short trip into the city. The sites are gravel but level. The bathroom/showers were keep clean. All the utilities work great. The Wi-Fi was strong and gave us no problems. The campground does not have a cable hookup but we did get several over the air local channels. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would rate the campground higher but as previous reviews state, over half the park sites are taken by permanent residents. Still, I would recommend this campground if you are planning a trip to San Antonio or just passing through. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Grading this campground is hard. It has so many nice things but the bad overrides a lot of it. Pro: nice large sites, lots of wildlife on the hiking trails through the woods, Close to lots of activities, a office staff that it tops and very polite, and a security gate for after hours. Cons: No pool, many full time residence some of which even installed swing sets on there lot for the kids, train every night blowing its horns, due to drought the river is almost non existent, many residence work so lots of noise and traffic in morning as everyone leaves for work. Hard for me to say if I will stay here again if ever in the area. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a week to attend our son's graduation from boot camp at nearby Lackland AFB. The park is about the closest you can get to the base and very convenient. The grounds are well kept. There are a lot of longer-term guests, but they keep their sites looking very neat. There are lots of areas to explore and the gated entry was an additional plus. The owner stopped by and chatted for a bit, letting us know that they'd be glad to pick up, fill and return an LP tank if we needed it. If we're in the San Antonio area again, we'll definitely stay here. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We lucked out with this one. The amenities are clean and in good working order. The area at the front is nothing special but once you get to the back of the park, down by the river, it is just great. Very clean grounds, lots of birds and even a few deer. Staff were all very friendly, we even got a guided tour. We will stay again next time we are in the area. This is hands down, the best RV Park we've stayed at in San Antonio! Great natural landscaping with big trees, and the Medina River runs thru the property. They have a brand new bath/shower house and laundry facility. Everyone is extremely friendly, and it is so quiet!! Big lots, reasonably priced. They also have a great dog park, and this Resort is very pet friendly. We've tried a number of different RV parks in San Antonio, and this is our favorite place!!! We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
