This place was a great find! Nice long (ours was 80') paved & level pull-thru site with a covered picnic table. 50 amp, water & sewer hook-ups. We got good WiFi coverage. Didn't get very good TV reception, but wasn't here for that. Location was good, right off the I-35/ Hwy 6 and 15 min. from Waco. You got freeway noise in the morning, but that was really it, I thought. For the money, wow, you can't beat this place! Right next to the water too, and a nice picnic area under trees. Really clean and well maintained. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We arrived mid-day and stayed one additional day. I wouldn't stay any shorter than that as there is plenty to see and do in Waco! Magnolia Farms, if you add a meal, takes most of the day by itself, then add the Texas Ranger Museum, and if you have children, there are other things, plus shopping, eating, etc. A great find was a local made ice cream place called The Heritage, check it out! Yum!

We stayed in site 28 with full hookups. Right off the highway but road noise wasn't too bad. Sites had their own individual covered picnic area, however, it was too hot and we didn't use them. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Fantastic price for stay with National Parks Senior Discount. Park has only 7 Pull Thru sights with Full Hook up and sewer. They are located about 200 yds from Texas Hwy 6 which has heavy traffic which is very noisy when sitting outside. Be aware there is no WiFi and no cable TV - this is a COE park. The pull thru sights are spacious and easy in and out. There are also about 25 other sights in the back part of the campground some actually on the lake but no sewer sights. This was a great park for visiting the sights in Waco however were disappointed that the grass was very high and there was household trash left in our fire ring which was never picked up the time we were there. The park ranger said grass cutting was contracted to be cut once a month - the resident camper management had cut and manicured grass however. You can't beat the price and proximity to town however if we came back we might look elsewhere for a campsite. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is on Lake Waco, on the west side of the city of Waco. It is just a few minutes west of I35. Most of the sites in this smaller park are back-in, 30 amp, water/electric sites. Several offer nice views of the lake. Most are shady, with covered picnic tables. There are a few "double-wide" sites in which two RVs share a spot that has two electric/water hookups. Also, a few have fairly steep ramps. Most of these sites are very long - long enough for any RV. There is one row of pull-through, 50 amp, full hookup sites. All of these have covered picnic tables. The sites are a bit closer together but not unreasonably so. Honestly, these aren't the best sites in the park. The reason is that they are located along the Highway 6 frontage road. This is a busy expressway with lots of traffic. The road noise is pretty much constant, 24 hours a day. Also, people with really big rigs might want to know that making the turn to drive into these pull-throughs is rather tight. There's a small, but nice playground and big boat ramp. The roads are excellent. Our Verizon had a solid 4G signal and I had no problem getting my TV satellite signal. That might not be true in some of the more wooded sites. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We only stayed one night driving through Waco to San Antonio. Our site was one of the pull thrus closest to the road and there was some road noise. The sites had picnic tables that were under cover. Between our GPS misdirecting us and road construction right outside the park arrival was somewhat challenging. We were an end site and getting out was a tight turn. However, this park was a great deal for the price. I would stay here again if driving through. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Motorhome.

Small park on the edge of Lake Waco. There is some construction making entry a little difficult but should be over soon. Good signage. Park is older, a little neglected. Grass hadn't been cut in a long time, was over 2 feet high most places, playground overgrown as were a couple of sites. Some sites not level, but ours was ok. Electric was steady, water pressure good. Our site hadn't been cleaned in a while, ashes in pit, trash around. Biggest complaint was loose dogs from what appear to be workers and longer term guests. When we mentioned to the gate attendant that one dog would not stay out of our campsite, they just shrugged and mumbled. 2 trailers with 4 dogs, dogs were constantly without leashes and allowed to bark and run. We probably would not stay here again because of the loose dogs. It is a convenient park to stay in for visiting the Waco area. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Motorhome.

We have found a really nice park in Waco Texas, Midway Park RV Park on Lake Waco. It is a Corps of Engineers park with 50amp full hookups. Both of our GPS devices brought us right to the park. We reserved and paid in advance so check-in at the kiosk was easy. The roads and site are gravel and big rig friendly. There is a lot of room between sites, which we like. We had a pull-thru and it was long enough for both vehicles. Hookups were fairly convenient. We had a good line of sight for our roof mounted satellite dish. Not all sites would be able to get satellite reception so be careful if that is important to you. Verizon 4g and cellphone signal strength was pretty good. There was no free park wifi. The best part of the park though had to be the price. Since it is a COE park our National Parks Senior Pass got us 50% off making the week less than $100. We would not hesitate to stay here again as we didn't realize how big Waco was with lots of things to see and do, plus you can't beat the price. We just want to visit when it isn't so dang hot. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is very to a busy road and is very loud with traffic all night including big trucks. The trees are in need of trimming back so they don't scrape the top of the rv's trying to get into the sites. The sites on top of the hill are 50 amps but there are only a few. The sites near the lake at the bottom of the hill are 30 amps and has a great view of the lake. It's shady in most sites. The grass and weeds are very high. No mowing has been done at this park in many months. We were there for July 4th and the park was full. There were lots of campers in tents and the grass was so high it was bad to not be able to see a snake. We love the location of this park. It is on the beautiful lake and close to town but it needs lots of maintenance that it's not getting. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Motorhome.

Paved interior roads and sites. Covered Picnic table at each site. 50 amp locations are right off a very busy highway so lots of traffic noise all the time including at night. Too much noise for us, we will not stay here again for that reason. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects half-price national park pass. We stayed in the upper pull-through section near the road, and it was a bit noisy from the highway as others have said. For us it was worth it to have the full hookups, since we stayed a week. The campground is on the smaller side for a COE, and it seems popular for the boat launch and fishing. There were a few tent campers, and on the weekend the place filled up. My main complaint about the restrooms and showers is that although it seemed they hosed them down, they didn't then clean out the drain, which ran along the wall behind the toilets. People kept propping the door open, which allows all the bugs to come inside, and there were plenty! Of course, the bigger beetles like to hang out on the trash that was stuck in the drain! Yuck. There was only one sink, no counter, no mirror, no paper towels and the dryer didn't work. No hooks to hang a towel from. Didn't use the showers, especially after I saw a giant spider heading that direction. The park is convenient to shopping and not far from downtown Waco, but if you want quiet you may want to check out other COE campgrounds on other parts of the lake. A note for those with very tall rigs - when approaching from the east, you exit and go under a 14' bridge under the highway to get on the other side where the park is. If you're concerned about that at all, you can go all the way across the water and come back, and then you'll exit right at the campground entrance. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Magnolia Market is nearby, free parking in the back. There's a free trolley that runs from there thru downtown. Go EARLY, things get crowded quickly. It's an experience, but the store has lots of mass-produced foreign-made stuff and it's super-expensive. Downtown try Jake's Texas Tea House. Cute diner theme, try the chopped caesar salad. Perfection, and then they add bacon! Yum! The other food was excellent too, lots of homemade options. See the Waco Mammoth Nat'l Monument - very interesting!

We stayed 3 nights in site #3 (W/E only) which is right on the lake with a great view and easy access to the boat ramp. It was a double wide site which made parking the boat easy. It has a nice cement patio. It is right off of Hwy 6 at the Twin Bridges, so cell and TV reception are excellent and it's very convenient to whatever you need in Waco. We would certainly stay here again for camping and easy fishing access to the south end of Lake Waco. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

We love stopping at COE parks! They are lovely and we enjoy being near water. This one is on Waco Lake. Check in was smooth and easy. There are a number of pull throughs and they are closer to the highway but we chose that instead of one closer to the lake for convenience. The hookups were toward the back of the site so there wasn't enough room to leave the car hooked up. We were spending 2 nights and touring Waco so that wasn't a big problem. We just couldn't hook it up the night before to be ready to go. Our motorhome is well insulated so the road noise didn't bother us. If you have an America the Beautiful Pass, the price can't be beat! This is a small park so make your reservations early! We camped at Midway Park COE in a Motorhome.
