The bathroom/showers were the best of any campground places that we have been to. One thing I have noticed about the park, is a lot of the members don't follow the park rules and there seems to be no enforcement of the rules. Other than that the park is a good place to stay for several days. They had a lot of sites without electricity, waiting for the electric company. There is a extra charge for the use of 50 AMP, $3.00, per day. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

The park is large with big sites, mostly level, with cable TV, but very little trees where we were at. Summers would be very hot for your RV. Big outdoor pool. The park is on Lake Conroe a 22,000 acre lake. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Nice RV resort, very clean. Most of the sites are pads, some cottages for owners, pads level'ish and are a little close and sparse trees, but there are about 20 sites that back into the woods like ours! (D area). Shower houses are OK; bathrooms are clean, but in disrepair. Has an activity center with pool, playground, basketball, shuffleboard, tennis, etc. Has lake access, but fishing from shore not too easy access. Bring your own fire ring and BBQ. Quiet resort at night. 24 hour security. Cost is in 40's per night. FHU. 30/50. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Travel Trailer.

We arrived on the Friday before Halloween and the park was pretty full. We initially parked in one of the 50A pull throughs (58) - these are the sites where you are side-to-side with the RV next to you on your "services" side. It would be tricky with slides (we don't have any). The site was also not very level so our front end (and door) were way up in the air. By Sunday afternoon, many folks were leaving, so we moved to the E section (I think site 73) which was nice and level.

We were just looking for a place to stay so we could go over to Polk County to vote and pick up some packages at the Escapees Mail Center. It was about an hour drive over to Livingston, but less expensive to stay at Thousand Trails since we have access to a membership through Family Courtesy Card. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

I could give this location a 20! Things that were great: staff, bathrooms & showers, pool with new cabanas that had TV's and mini-fridge, cable & Internet throughout park-small fee. Regular TV great, large open green areas, awesome marina & beach, best tennis courts I've ever seen, activities centers, everything is being updated. In section G, which has been redone, level gravel lots, lots of space, fire pits, picnic tables all great. Only two very tiny things: little bumpy on the way in but really not enough to mention and if you want the internet and cable make sure to call the provider and add before 5pm or you can't get it until the next day. We will stay here again and again! We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The staff were great to point us to section G which has been redone. The pull-through sites are the old side by side kinds which leave little room if you have slides but people were parking on every other site since it was not full when we were there. They would have been fine under this circumstance.

First time at Texas TT and what a nice Park. The remodeled pool area was great, loved the grass area for lounging. Lodge is spacious and planned events are posted. Most sites are spacious but not a lot of tree's for shade. We stayed here two weeks and enjoyed it very much. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

I love Thousand Trails preserves. The sites are mostly back in with a few pull through; both 30amp and 50amp service. Our site had good water and electric. The water quality was good. There was no wifi at the site but only at the activity center. They had a real nice large pool with lots of tables and cabanas off in the grass. Well kept and clean. There is a big playground, mini golf, pickle ball, basketball, baseball field, and activities. There is a small adult center with a pool table and some books. The other center was large with a café and lots of tables. They have a small marina where you can bring your boat and a little beach. They also have long term residents and a couple little communities with cabins that you can purchase to live here. They are pet friendly but do not have a dog park, even though there is lots of room for one. I found a trail that goes into the woods next to the ranger station where I was able to let the dogs loose to get their daily run. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Travel Trailer.

This is by far the nicest TT we have stayed in. A lot of money has recently been put into the park.....4 brand new pickleball courts, and a GORGEOUS pool with cabanas with TVs (a first for us at a TT) to name a couple . The sites are a little run down, still, but this is typical of what we see at TTs. The utilities worked well, and we had a clear shot of the sky for satellite. Conroe is about 10 mins away, and has about any type of shopping or eatery you could want. Highly recommend. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

I totally agree with the last few reviews. I was here 5 years ago and there has been many improvement made here. I have been to many Thousand Trails Preserves some good and some bad this ranks up with some of the best. Only negative is there were only 3 working washers and 4 dryers for all the sites their. The interior roads do need some work. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

As others have said, they just added a large pool area with cabanas and a gas fire pit. It is very nice!

I was able to find a nice spot overlooking the pond.

The boat docks have been rebuilt and are very nice.

The laundry was out of service when I was there which was a MAJOR inconvenience.

The lodge was not new, but was OK.

We were very happy with this park.

My only complaint is that their rules state that no child under age 14 may be out alone. Campgrounds are normally more of a "free range" place for kids 10 and up.

They did not complain that my 12 year old was at the park with the younger kids. But it posed a problem when they had to use the bathroom and were not allowed in the buildings unaccompanied. The ranger actually followed us to the pool on a 70 degree day to make sure that we knew that the kids were absolutely not allowed in the hot tub at all. (which was what we were planning on doing. We were the only people there are both parents were present). Our kids jumped in the icy pool once and then stood under the showers to warm up because it was so cold.

Also - LOTS of FIRE ANTS. I got bit every time I went to my hookups because there was a big ant hill right by my sewer hook up.

The pool area was landscaped with rail road ties that were treated with something that sweat our the chemicals and stained our clothes. It was sticky and gross. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

I stay at this park often and as many people have said on this site they have invested a lot of money to improve the park. The pool, boat docks, mini-golf, wifi and cable. The wifi was dreadful in this park, the new system they put in is very good, however like the cable tv system you have to pay a fee.

I really do like the park, my two biggest complaints for the last 4 years are the sites are not level and the roads are not maintained. Parking a large motorhome requires finding the best site of many bad choices (not level, ruts, no gravel) and then using lumber under your jack pads to get your coach level. The lumber also helps in keeping your jack pads from sinking into the mud due to the lack of gravel in all sites. The roads have many deep potholes that rock and roll the coach. They should remove the asphalt roads and just use gravel. It would be easier to maintain, if they would dedicate a couple of people to maintain the roads throughout the park. I know that the rain this year has exacerbated these problems, combined with the trenching, but this has been a problem for many years and they have yet to do anything to resolve these issues. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Thousand Trails/Encore has made substantial improvements to this park and more are underway. The bathrooms have been totally reconstructed and are very clean and modern. The pool area has been redone with new landscaping, hot tub, cabanas, lighting, sound system, etc. There is a new dock system on the lake. They are currently installing what appears to be cable TV to all the sites and new WiFi access points through out the park. Currently WiFi is available at a cost. We used our hotspot instead. The roads do need work but waiting until after the utilities are updated before doing this makes sense. The lodges could also use some updating but are clean. Others have complained about the lack of sites but we were here for three weeks including a holiday weekend and there were always sites available never less than 5. They are converting some of the open areas to mobile home sites but this does not impact the availability of camping sites. Excellent Verizon and over the air TV service. Our site was level but this isn't true of all of them although you should be able to level on all the sites. The pull through sites are close together and not the best choice. We definitely will be back and hope that TT continues to make improvements at all their parks. We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

This is the second time we stayed at this large TT campground and they continue to make many improvements. The amenities are excellent-great restrooms, beautiful large pool and hot tub, lots of activities for families to do; a playground, putt putt, horseshoes, tennis, basketball, lake with marina, fishing, etc. They just completed cable installation but it will cost, like the Internet. Also, they charge $3.00 per night for 50 amp. Now they can work on upgrading the roads and sites as there are some pretty rough patches. The best thing about this park were the friends my son made while there! Everyone was very friendly. He had a blast and we would definitely return.
