We were here to visit family near Zavalla for the Mother's Day weekend. There was a county park closer to our venue but it was very unkempt. This COE park is very clean, big sites, good spacing, and quiet. The only down side is that with all the trees we could not utilize our tv but since we were gone a lot, it was not a problem. There was no sewer hookup but that was not a problem. Staff was extremely friendly and competent and gave us info on area needs. The bathrooms did need a thorough cleaning but we made do with that. The baths were small cubicles that appeared not to have any venting. There was a skylight but the only opening was the door. We would stay here again for a few days. Since we do not fish, we did not ask for nor have a waterfront site. The site was plenty long for our tow car and 40 foot motorhome and trees were trimmed adequately so that we were not hitting trees going in or out of the park. We camped at Hanks Creek COE in a Motorhome.
Tips for other Campers:
Lufkin is the nearest town of any size. There is a mart/gas in Zavalla as well as a small grocery.

This is a great COE park. The sites are well spaced with plenty of room. Many sites are on the water. There are shelters with RV hookups. There are both 30 & 50 amp sites. The park has a swimming area and 2 boat launches. We camped at Hanks Creek COE in a Motorhome.

i have stayed here many times in my RV. I LOVE this campground. I wish they had sewer hookups and Wi-Fi but despite that, i will continue to stay here. It's very family friendly and safe. There's not a swimming area close by. You have to leave the RV park and drive around to the boat ramp to access swimming. They have a nice playground and paved roads to ride bikes on. The fishing is very good and most of the park is shady. Restrooms and showers are usually very clean. Great park! We camped at Hanks Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

Park is on Lake Sam Rayburn. It has boat ramps for the fishermen and separate swimming areas for the kiddies. Overall, the park was very clean and the people very nice. All sites are shady. It was quiet and a great place to unwind for a few days. We camped at Hanks Creek COE in a Motorhome.
