Wow! If I had to pick a location, design, and build a state park in Utah, this would be pretty darn close to what I would come up with. The park itself is amazing, with many miles of dog friendly hiking trails, incredible views, and amazing rock formations. Super quiet and mostly super dark at night with the exception of light loving neighbors (there really should be a rule against lights on at night). Several full hookup sites are on one side of the campground and all are big rig friendly with plenty of length and width. A couple of the pull through spots are about 100' long. The back in sites are a bit shorter, but still plenty of room for the longest of rigs and are off the main road. We had a back in which was very nice, but next time we'll select a pull through so we get afternoon shade from our rig. The non hookup sites are much more mixed with some being just a wide spot in the road, to short back ins, to huge, super long pull throughs. Check the map to know what you're getting when making reservations. We loved this park and the amazing location. All sites and roads are newer asphalt, so no dust and no rocks tracked into the rv. Lots of amazing hiking around the area as well as in the park. We'll be back! We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Motorhome.

This is our second (and not our last) time at this park. The park is absolutely beautiful, sites are large treed, and very spacious. Roads and sites are level asphalt. It was remodeled a few years ago and is in excellent shape. It is off the highway by several miles making it feel quite secluded. Because it is located in a Canyon, the traffic is primarily within the campground. Lots of hikes within the park, and the staff is very helpful. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Make reservations if you want to camp in this beautiful state park since it is very popular. The campground has paved roads and campsites with red gravel sitting areas. There are a wide variety of sites including some which were just a wide spot in the roadside. We had a backin site which was very long but narrow. Make your site selection carefully! The park has a quirky entrance forcing you to make a quick right/left turn combination. Bring all needed groceries and supplies since shopping in the area is very limited. No cell phone service in the park. Bathrooms, showers, and laundry were all clean and nice. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Amazing little state park. Great hiking, views and star gazing! The RV site was very generous in size, level and paved. There are sites with full hookups and sites with water only. Only challenge we had was there is no cell service in the park and no WiFi. Being off the Grid is good for a couple of days but being a small business owner it's difficult to not be able to check in to the office. We ended up cutting our stay short a couple days and staying up the road at a different campground so we could access WiFi. If this park had WiFi it would be perfect. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights beginning Memorial Day weekend and had a great experience. We were in one of the full hookup sites at the Basin Campground. It was fairly level. There other non-hookup sites which vary in and size ... be sure and check the length of site before booking. There are five showers in this campground. They were all free and never seemed to run out of hot water. Bathrooms were clean and well-stocked at all times. The views are great and there are plenty of hiking opportunities. Some days were calm other days the winds were quite gusty at times. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Panorama Trail hike and the Angel's Point trail if you like to hike. Bryce Canyon is about a 40 minute drive. The Willis Creek Narrows trail affords some great viewing if you don't mind taking your vehicle off on an occasionally washboard dirt road for about 20 minutes. Cellular service and TV is non-existent here ... the nearest cell service is in the town of Tropic about 20 minutes outside the campground.

Great alternative to campgrounds closer to Bryce. Beautiful box canyon with Hoodoos, and other rock formations. You are far away from everything and everyone here. All sites are paved, all have picnic tables and fire ring, however just a few are full hookups and all seem to vary in size. You can reserve specific sites ahead of time so do you your homework beforehand. Everything was clean and rangers patrolled day and night. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Motorhome.

I can only repeat what others have said, what a great, beautiful campground. We only stayed one night, unfortunate for us, because we don't make advanced reservations and it was Friday, full for the weekend. Our site offered full hook ups, and surrounded by the natural beauty of mountains. It was extremely peaceful here. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful state park with beautiful surroundings and is one of the nicest sites we've stayed in recently. Very peaceful. There is no cellular service or TV service in the park. The park rangers are very nice and helpful and pointed me to a place to get a tire repaired. Boy Scouts provide firewood for $5.00. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Spectacular scenery surrounding the unique Basin Campground. Designated Dark Sky Park so star gazing on a clear night is breathtaking. Park is very quiet at night. The campsites were long asphalt drives with full hookups and natural landscaping in between sites. Not too close to neighbors but you could see them. Our site had a nice firepit and picnic table. Showers were private and clean. Being in a basin, there's zero cell service, no data, no TV, not even AM radio--so nice for a few days. We highly recommend this park and will definitely return. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in the newer Bryce View Campground with no hookups. It is clean and nice but our main complaint was the generator hours are only from 12-4.

Since we were out sightseeing during those hours and the weather was cloudy/raining, we had trouble with having enough charge to our batteries. We wouldn't stay in the Standard spaces again. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

I love this campground!! And this state park!!

First things first ... there are only a limited number of camp sites with hookups and we didn't get one. So, no hookups for a few days. Also, no cell service and no wifi. You are allowed to run your generator from 12noon - 4pm only. Minor inconvenience and totally worth it to be there. The camp sites are amazing ... very large with picnic tables, fire rings and grill and each is landscaped to preserve the natural foliage. And everywhere you look you see the magnificent red "hoodoos" and red sandstone cliffs that are part of the natural beauty of the area. Kodachrome welcomes everyone: tenters, smaller camping vehicles as well as larger rigs. We were the only motorhome there at the time. Each site feels very secluded and private. There are large and clean bath houses to use if needed.

The park itself has many hiking trails of various length and difficulty. The red rock formations of the area are just gorgeous and a joy to view out your window.

It rained the later part of our stay and didn't stop! So, with no wifi or cable, gin rummy was the entertainment for the evening. It was a good lesson in bringing a couple of board games with us "just in case."

The park is dog friendly (leashed) and our little one had a ball on the hiking trails or trying to chase the large rabbits that live there.

September is a perfect time to be in Utah ... warm / hot during the day and cool at night. Great sleeping weather!

It snowed in Bryce Canyon when we were there while we, in the valley, had rain only - and a bit of hail!

I definitely want to come back to this state park. Rustic and gorgeous natural landscape - Mother Nature at her finest! We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Motorhome.

This was a beautiful park which had lovely, spacious, private sites. We had full hookups which were easily accessed. There was no cell service for either Verizon or AT&T. There are numerous well-maintained hiking trails throughout the park which to allow leashed dogs. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was one of the most beautiful campgrounds we've ever stayed in. Were so lucky to get last minute reservations for the July 4th weekend in a full-hookup site. Absolutely immaculate! The roads and sites are asphalt, plenty long enough for our 37 foot motorhome and Jeep Wrangler. The backdrop is the magnificent state park hoodoos and whimsical rock formations. The park rangers were wonderful and the drive into the park is gorgeous. Very close drive to Bryce Canyon. A must if you can get reservations here. Bryce Canyon very close by, as is the unimproved road through Escalante to Lake Powell. The small town of Tropic is close and there is a wonderful coffee shop there, as well as a great Mexican restaurant inside a little strip mall with grocery and ice cream shop. Believe it was called the Rustler.

This is one of the cleanest campgrounds I have ever camped in. When I arrived there was not one piece of litter or cigarette butt to be seen. It was so clean I even went to the Ranger and commented on it. The campground was extremely quiet except for the screech of a prairie falcon flying by with a snake in is talons. Although I did not use the hook ups they had several that were well spaced and almost all provided shade.

I hiked almost every trail in the park in the two days I was there. It is also right next to the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument which had some great sightseeing and hiking also.

This is a park that I will certainly return to! The night sky was spectacular! We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Plan to spend at least 2 -3 full days there to see everything. Bring a good camera and tripod to be able to photograph this Beautiful place. It was Named Kodachrome by National Geographic and the beautiful colors of the area. The rock formations are both beautiful and unique.

Sites are well spaced for privacy, they have some full hook ups, some electric water, some tent sites, Paved site was probably 90 feet long and level. Beautiful park, very quiet and clean, great easy to moderate hiking trails, really dark skies for star gazing, views of Bryce Canyon in the distance, as well as the Grand Staircase, Easy day trip to Bryce Canyon. No cell phone coverage of any type. Probably books up on many weekends, reservations advised. Would stay here again. We camped at Kodachrome Basin State Park in a Travel Trailer.
