We really enjoyed Sand Hollow. We had a great back in spot with views of the lake. The park was quiet, clean and had everything we needed. The covered shade area with picnic table was great and having a fire in the fire ring was perfect. Spots are far apart, plenty of room for slides and we didn’t hear our neighbors. I can see how it may get crowded in the summer, but the spaces are far apart so you wouldn’t be crowded. Park staff were friendly. Would come back here for sure! Loved it! We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a great state park campground. It's very popular and is usually full by evening. The sites are very spacious and the views are superb. Everything is paved and very easy to navigate for big rigs. Utilities work well but water pressure is very high. Make sure you have a regulator. The staff is nice and the place is always very clean. Definitely will be back. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The sites are nicely spaced and the park is beautiful but the garbage is everywhere. We mostly stay at COE, State and County RV parks all over the country and this is probably the most unkept park I've seen. The Rangers do a good job patrolling the park but fail to see or just ignore the trash. We had high expectations do fellow full timers telling us what a great park this WAS only to be disappointed. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Other than decent spacing between sites in the section we stayed in, there is nothing else to encourage us to return. We had a stinking sewer manhole in the middle of our site that a previous camper had tried to seal with duct tape. Park rules don't seem to be enforced at all. The limits on vehicles, RVs, tents, and people appear to be whatever you can jam into your campsite. Some sites had 3 and 4 vehicles, a dozen or more people, cars parked on the road, multiple tents. No enforcement on open fire restrictions during fire season in spite of posted signs. Loud ATVs frequently driving through the campground late at night. This all made for a noisy crowded stay. There are 2 occupied host sites. Not sure what duties they have. One host had little interest in talking to my wife about one issue she had. We had no reason to check out or use the restrooms, so no observations there. Although no fault of the campground, my kids got a screaming case of "swimmers itch." This sounds like a lot of whining but why have park rules if they are not enforced to make it enjoyable for all. The inmates appear to be running the asylum here. We stayed in the Westside campground. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sand Hollow is Utah's newest state park opened to the public in 2003. This review is for the Westside Campground. This park is nicely designed to accommodate bigger rigs. We had full hook ups and a fairly level paved back-in site. Nice picnic table shelter otherwise no shade. No recycling. Beautiful views of lake and mountains. Great for boaters and OHV's. No hiking trails. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Hurricane is more touristy with antiques and gift boutiques. Nearby Washington City has everything one could want with chain stores and restaurants.

This is a fantastic campground. Very well designed, the sites are spacious and the interior roads are easy to navigate for big rigs. The park has tons of other recreation opportunities as well like ORV and boating. The Utah State Parks seem to be doing it right. All the utilities worked well and Verizon signal was good with good LTE data. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Motorhome.

The Park itself is very nice. There is a warning at the lake about "Swimmers Itch" being present in the water. When I got to my site, my EMS indicated reversed polarity so I went to the office. Was told that it was ok, there is no positive or negative wiring in the park. Checked other sites, reverse polarity there too. Not one other camper had EMS. Was 106 outside so I plugged in. The State of Utah needs to fix this issue. Nice people in the office. The site was level and spacious, although there is no shade in the desert. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a fantastic campground! The sites are huge and the views are beautiful! We had so much space and privacy and full hookups. The park is convenient to the town of St. George which has all the stores and restaurants you could want. It's about a 45 minute drive to Zion National Park. We also visited Snow Canyon State Park from here which was about 30 minutes away. Verizon worked very well here also. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed in the Westside loop with full hook-ups. Lots of longer back-ins and pull-thrus. Stay up on the higher section and have some lake views. We loved riding our ATV on the sand dunes and trails. No shade in hot weather, but March was great. Pull-thrus long enough for very large motorhomes towing trailers or cars. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice State Park campground. All sites on the west side are paved with ample room in pull throughs and back-ins, plus full hookups. Tables are covered with cement base. Higher sites have excellent views of the lake and the mountains/dunes. I highly recommend this CG. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lives up to its score. Beautifully level large blacktop sites. Lots of separation and an excellent spot to go see both sides of Zion from. Some beautiful sunsets from here. Overall Rating:

A decent state park. Several camping areas ranging from boondocking on the beach to full hookups. We stayed in the full hookup section. Nice decently large sites with a fair amount of separation between them. Fairly close to shopping including Costco if you need to stock up. The reservoir was nice and most areas except for the beach are dog friendly for some great swimming. The major downside if you're not into ATVs is that there are a LOT of noisy ATVs in the park and in the campground. About a 45 minute easy drive to Zion which is the main reason we stayed at this state park. Good Verizon signal and open sky for sattelite reception. We camped at Sand Hollow State Park in a Motorhome.
