I found this park a little expense for what you get. Sites are level with 30 amp service, water and sewer. The sites are tiered which means views of the lake are available all over. Utilities worked fine and are located in the proper area for hookups. We camped here in a 40' motorhome. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a super nice place. We were in the chokecherry campground. Full hookups, paved roads and sites. Plenty of space between sites. Easy navigation for big rigs. Every site has a pavilion over the picnic table. The staff is very friendly and the camp hosts & workers keep the place very clean. Granted the electric is only 30 amp but for the price it's a great value. The views of the surrounding mountains and the reservoir are superb. Most of the sites gets reserved for the weekends but during the week it's very quiet here. The only downside is the Verizon service is spotty at best. Water pressure was a little low but it got the job done. Sites are double wide so plenty of space to park the truck. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very well maintained campground with great views of the lake. The restrooms were immaculate as were the picnic areas. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was our site's plug (CC05), had reverse polarity. Luckily we checked it out ahead of time. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Price is for FHU and includes $8 service charge for reserving on line. We stayed for one nights in Chokecherry #7 - a pull through site tiered above the lake. Very pretty scenery of Lake and Mountains. Seems like a park best suited for Water activity on the Lake - but it worked great for one night. Dish, Cell and OTA all worked great. Sites have plenty of space between them. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park, good location and a great value. We booked our site on line and check-in was a breeze. We were in Space 18 in the Chokecherry campground. We found some sites that would have had better views had we been more familiar with the campground, but our view was pleasant. Covered picnic table, water, electric and sewer. The sewer connection was placed at an odd angle for our RV but we were able to make it work. State parks like this are so much nicer than staying in a cramped private campground and much more reasonable (you just don't get wifi unless you have a terrific hot spot)! We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Views are breathtaking. You are surrounded by mountains (snow covered & green) along with view of a beautiful lake. All sites are tiered so views are not obstructed. Site is pull thru with FHs (30amp) & covered tabled. Would definitely recommend. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A very nice state park only about 30 min outside of Provo. We arrived Sunday afternoon (early May off season) and there was only 2 other rigs here. We grabbed IMO one of the nicest sites (#30) a long pull thru with view of Mt Timpaogos out the front window and the reservoir out the side. The weekend got busy with boaters and other types who just don't seem to understand the "old" rules of camping etiquette anymore but I guess when you are so close to town that is expected. We had one camper letting his 2 male unfixed Pit Bulls run loose, and later another camper letting their dog run loose and poop all over the place. We also had a young boy climb the stairs of the coach and look in the window. Papa only said "sorry" to me but never even corrected his son and tell him that is not cool. Other than the crazy weekenders; this park was very nice for the 10 days we where here. During the week perfect. I can see summertime it's a party destination. Full hookup and 30amp service. Low water pressure - we used our pump. Barely useable Verizon LTE (-112db 0 SNR) Too weak for my booster to offer much help - but my ATT LTE was excellent. I work from the Coach so I carry both. $20 for offseason stay was a great value. We'd come back - but only when not busy. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Sundance Resort only 10 min away. Foundry Grill was perhaps the best burger we've ever had. Dogs allowed only in campground so we traveled to Provo and walked the Provo River Parkway with the dogs several days. Good shopping in Heber City (10-15min)

We stayed in Choke Cherry CG. I'd of rated this park a 10 if it had 50amp power available! Great place. No problem maneuvering our 45' MH into site 11. View of the lake was beautiful. We expected to have no water but it had been turned on the night before! Pressure was extremely low (20psi) but could at least fill our tank as required. Good walking but pets only allowed in the campground....they mean it. Great access to Provo Canyon. Good Verizon signal for phone and MIFI. Satellite hookup no problem. We would stay here again. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

A decent place to stay when visiting the Salt Lake City area. The campground is on a hill overlooking the reservoir, so the sites are tiered over several levels. Almost all have a nice view of the water and all have a covered patio with picnic table. The backin sites are double wide asphalt so lots of space. Pull through sites are the typical single wide sites. Sites on the lower tiers have a bit less road noise than those on the upper tiers, but not bad in either case. Not overly dog friendly as there are multiple signs saying dogs allowed in campground only. The nice thing is the location. Easy drive to Provo, Park City, and SLC. Temple square is about a 45 minute drive and an interesting visit. Super fantastic dog friendly hikes in the multiple parks and forest lands nearby off of Provo Canyon. A drive up to Mt. Timpanogos is a must do. Our only complaint is that a few of the backin sites have curbs preventing backing in enough to use the sewer. In our site (25), the sewer was 28' away from our wet bay requiring a trip into town for another sewer hose. Barely useable Verizon, but clear sky for satellite reception. We will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Used this campground as a mid-way stop for a longer trip. A good number of the visitors are there for the reservoir and you'll sometimes see the RV plus boat, plus 2 vehicles in spaces. Reasonably spaced out park with good roads. Some spaces (like ours) have great views of the North end of the reservoir. There is some road noise from the highway above, but it drops off dramatically at night. And our spot was close to a restroom with overly bright floodlights we could have done without. The location offers a great jumping off spot for visiting Park City, Heber, Midway, and some areas used for the 2002 winter Olympics. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed two nights in our 34' Fifth Wheel and very much enjoyed our stay. The site we had was very large and level. We enjoyed a ride on the Heber Creeper which was suggested by a park employee. We never saw the camp host which I like meeting, but that didn't hamper our stay. Given the chance we would stay here again. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the first state park we have been to that had dirty showers and restrooms. The showers were especially bad.
Beyond that, the place is great. Many of the sites have terrific lake views. No shade. Good AT&T service for phone and data. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Paved access road and sites, gorgeous views, fire-pits with covered tables. Park access road is a bit steep (we are 40' plus dinghy), but once in the sites are tiered and level. We prefer State/Fed parks because sites are usually larger as is this park. Have no fear of Hwy 189/40 it's a fine road; we've always steered clear but it just became our favorite way North I-15 to I-80. Staff was cheerful and helpful. We had full hook-up site. Campground was nearly full this weekend; my only 'con' is $8 PER reservation when reserving online. I reserved two UT State Parks at once ... still charged $8 each. Yes, we will happily return to this park. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We camped here in a 40' rig. The interior roads and actual camping pads were asphalt. Interior roads were easy to navigate. The pads were wide and level. It was an OK price for a 30 amp W/E site. The views of the surrounding mountains and the actual reservoir were wonderful to look at. There was no shade trees in the park or at the sites, but, it cooled off very comfortably in the evenings and we were able to sit out and enjoy the evenings and stars. Electric and water service were strong. If you are a canoer or kayaker the reservoir looked like it had some calm quiet water to kayak in. You are located approximately 15 miles from any major food stores or restaurants. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

In addition to the nightly fee, there is an $8 fee if you reserve using the reservation system. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful. This park is off the beaten track, about 20 miles off I-15, but well worth a visit. There are two campgrounds at this park. The Great Horned Owl campground doesn't have hookups. The Choke Cherry campground has full hookups (30 amp). However, the sewer connections are at the very back of the sites and difficult to reach. We had a 30' hose and it was stretched to reach the connection. The park is located next to a lake that was surrounded by snow capped peaks when we were there. Beautiful location to relax. The park seems to be a favorite for locals, particularly on Saturday nights, so it's best to make a reservation in advance if you want to stay over a Saturday night. There are a few trails from the park that lead to the lake. The park is big rig friendly with both pull throughs and back-ins. It's best to assess the site assigned to determine from which direction you should approach it. (Park has a two way loop and you can end up backing in or pulling in from a difficult angle.) If you want a good lake view, the best sites, in our opinions, are 9, 11, 13, 27, 30 and 37. Sprint service was excellent. We loved this park and will return. We camped at Deer Creek State Park in a Motorhome.
