This place is run by fools. It's right off the highway, so there's a decent amount of road noise which subsides somewhat at night. It's a small, tight campground. We pulled in, and the folks who were supposed to have moved out of our spot had not done so. The office person marched over and banged on their door to no avail. Apparently, the office staff had not come around to kick them out earlier or called them, as it was 3pm and they had plenty of time to do so. The office folks proceeded to have a big argument about how full to keep their small campground in front of their waiting guests. Not classy. No immediate solution was offered. They finally decided to put us in another spot, but told us we may have to move. We told them to figure out their booking arrangements, but that we would not be moving spots during a 3 day reservation. I later watched in horror as one of the office staff helped an older fellow back his 5th wheel right into another car. He then came toward my truck before I jumped out and helped the guy to navigate myself, rather than having him hit my rig as well. The poor guy was angrily exchanging insurance information with the other person and with the office after the incident, though he was thankful that I helped him into his spot. Don't have them help you into your spot. You're better off by yourself. This guy had obviously never driven a large rig before and should not have been helping others to navigate. The entrance is extremely dark at night, so it's very hard to see when you come in. AT&T cell service is good, and the WiFi is spotty but sometimes effective. Parking for our vehicle was extremely difficult, and borderline risky for our spot. The view was pretty, and the location was conveniently close to town. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Fifth Wheel.

If you are camping in a tent and need a kitchen, this is your place. We camped in a travel trailer but the community kitchen, fire pit, games and sandbox created a super great vibe for meeting people and hanging out. If you are new to driving a rig and parking it in tight spaces this park is NOT for you! It's super hilly and the oddest configuration we've ever seen. Lots of the sites are very narrow and close to neighbors. Our spot was great but the first spot we were given we wouldn't fit into. This park also has amazing recycling. It's not walkable to Moab but it's bikable for sure and connects to the path about 1-1.5 miles. You could walk to the bowling alley. No shade! We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Travel Trailer.

Quite nice park on the south side of Moab. On a hill with dirt roads, and very tight. While climbing the hill after signing in, to get to our campsite we came very close to catching the awning of a large MH in B14, because we were crowded by a vehicle at the end of B7. We slowly crawled past the MH and cleared the awning by mere inches. Fortunately we had no roof equipment on that size. I urge caution when climbing that hill. We needed 4-wheel drive to get into our site at P-3. Staff at the park was nice and helpful and told us about some sites nearby that were pretty nice to see. We extended our stay by a day. This location is perfect for exploring Canyonland National Park and Arches National Park along with many other sites around town. The restaurants were excellent and Moab is a nice, clean and interesting tourist town. We really enjoyed the town and the RV park. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Very dusty and tight campground with many unlevel sites. The interior roads are easy to navigate, but the sites need work. The crown in the center of some sites also makes parking and leveling difficult. We were careful to advise staff about our requirements for our large (43') rig and were told, "No problem." Staff were very accomodating upon arrival, even late at night, in helping us move to a site that would at least barely fit our rig. The original site we were assigned would not work due to the excessive crown in the center. The next problem was the unlevel nature of the second site. Some blocks, manual leveling, and a portable stair step resolved that issue. There is not much room to sit outside your site or let your dog do their business. Many of the sites also have broken down wooden picnic benches. Some have new(er) looking aluminum benches. The dog and bicycle wash are great. The community kitchen and eating area are nice for those interested in such things. Staff assured that they were working on the crown and leveling issues as well as the overall condition of the campground. Evidence of construction is all over the place as well. I presume with the busy season starting that won't happen anytime soon. We won't return. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Motorhome.

First off, Moab campgrounds are rather expensive for what you get. You're paying for location. Most are on the the 191 highway so road noise is a given. It does get a little loud here at ACT during the day but it you're out exploring it doesn't really matter. It does settle down at night. The campground is clean and the staff are great. They have a lot of amenities including a complete outdoor kitchen area. It is a little tight for parking especially on weekends when all the off road "toys" come out to play but everyone seems to manage. Verizon signal was good. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Motorhome.

Clean restrooms, showers, kitchen & laundry is the only thing this park has going for it. ACT, always constant traffic (as mentioned in another review) on the 191. The park is about 75 yards away from the road. Spots are hard to get your rig level. All dirt very little bark, the rv park is in need of updating. Before you make a reservation here call around town, There are nicer rv parks around for the same money. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Motorhome.

Friendly workers and facilities were good. The location is on the side of a highway. We nicknamed this park ACT for "Always Constant Traffic". After two days we relocated to a park on the north side of Moab. Same price as ACT! We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Travel Trailer.

Several previous reviewers have commented about this park being just a gravel dump. While the sites are gravel and somewhat unlevel (it is built on the side of a hill) it would be unfair to characterize it as a poor park. The friendly and accommodating owners have squeezed every space they can from the acreage they have. Moab has become so popular that RV sites are at a premium. The restrooms were spotless, the community kitchen an added benefit, the laundry room clean, the WiFi strong, the cable TV adequate. The attraction is the spectacular setting of mountains, canyons, arches, the Colorado River and thousands of acres of state and national parks. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Moab thrives on tourism which is beginning to be nearly year-round. Reservations are highly recommended. There are dozens of unique places to eat and shop. The city has a beautiful aquatic center open to the public. Several old-fashioned swimming holes are nearby, too. See the national parks but don't skip Dead Horse Point State Park. This is also prime country for rock climbing and 4-wheeling in the canyons.

We have a class "C" motorhome and don't have any jacks. Our spot was level and although the roads are gravel the park is kept very nice. We came in under Passport and stayed 2 nights. It is very convenient to the National parks and also to downtown Moab. The buildings are spotless and the people nice. If you approach the park from the north the sign is hidden by a tree. We liked this place. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Motorhome.

Moab Utah and camping here is not cheap, and this was the cheapest that I was aware of. Navigation was a bit touchy for my 40 footer with a toad. Being in the desert, the camping area itself is a basic, no frills all-gravel place. Facilities buildings were immaculate however. Have stayed here previously and will return since all I need is a place to park my rig and long hot showers. This place has both and is the least expensive that I could find. Tips for other Campers:

This is canyon country with several National and State parks nearby. Spend a few (several?) days and take in what nature has to offer. Plenty of bistros and eateries in Moab: some better than others so ask around before committing. Rent a Jeep or take a guided tour of the two-track roads which abound in the area.

No dog breed restrictions - just common sense leash rules/pick up after dog/weather concerns (extreme heat) for animals reviewed. Very friendly staff and able to accommodate a last minute reservation as ANOTHER PARK turned us away due to our breed. Park fairly new so trees are young. Easy access to park our 5th, level, hookups in excellent condition. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Fifth Wheel.

I also do not understand the good reviews for this park. It is so uneven, you slip trying to move around outside the rig. The sites are very built up, slope severely on three sides, and are sand. One of my jacks sunk into the ground so much it would not retract. There is no place to put chairs out to sit. There is not enough gravel or wood chips and everything is very dusty. The dog area is a hole in the fence to an unimproved area full of stickers. I removed at least 30 the only time I used it. There is nowhere else to walk your dogs and I drove them to find a place. The sites are so small everyone ends up parking in the road and you have to move when people are coming and going. Road noise is very bad. The owners are very nice and want you to be happy. That just isn't possible with the current state of the park. Cable is good. WiFi not great. We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Motorhome.

Unless you are desperate and have to stay here, don't. Frankly, we have NO idea how it has gotten the good ratings that it has. This is a tiny park by the side of the highway; it is nothing but gravel (and very uneven at that) for the sites and the park. There is NOWHERE to walk your dog, so unless your animal is comfortable doing its business in the rocks or the dirt, good luck!

Our site was so unlevel, we were off the ground with our jacks. Our site was so sloped that you couldn't even sit on the picnic bench provided without sliding off. With the wind that we experienced, not only was our rig coated with dust inside and out, but you could barely walk around without getting dust and dirt in your eyes, your lungs, and all over your clothes.

The only bright spot here was the staff. They were wonderful. Everyone we met could not have been more helpful or friendly. Unfortunately, they have not been given much to work with as regards this park. Our advice - find somewhere else if you can! Overall Rating:

This was our second week-long stay here at ACT; we really like this place! As others have noted, it's not the best for big rigs due to the rise and gentle slope of the property, but for our 30-footer we have no problems--we found level on our own, but they have lots of wood planks around if you need them. The CG is just a year old and the owner/managers who created it smartly worked with the contours of the land. The place is natural and they leave it that way--gravel for the sites/loop road and wood chips (not grass; this is a desert!) in between to tamp down the natural sandiness of the area. They've left much of the natural habitat which is very nice to see, then planted more colorful drought-resistant desert plants. The trees they've planted need a few years before they'll provide adequate shade, but most CG's in this area don't have much shade either. Road noise: depending on your site, there's a bit until ~11p when it settles down, but honestly this is not a problem. [Keep in mind this is a highly-used recreational area; jeeps, 4WDs, bikes, etc.--lots of people come here because of the beauty of the place--there are going to be vehicles on the roads.] There's a nice shared kitchen space--very Euro/Aussie. The bathrooms are new and cool and well-appointed. Everything about this CG speaks to environmental consciousness and resource/land stewardship--energy-efficient buildings, recycling, Moab-cool-vibe-attitude--we're all for it and will keep coming back here!! Rate reflects pay for 6 nights; 7th night is free plus 10% G.S.; a very good deal! We camped at ACT Campground & Environmental Learning Center in a Motorhome.

MoYo has the best frozen yogurt; we frequent almost daily! We love Eklecticafe for b'fast/lunch. Zax has good all-you-can-eat salad bar and pizza buffet during lunch (and maybe dinner, too? don't know; we always go for lunch)--delish! Sunset Grill for nicer, higher-end dinner.

These people are so great! They provide nice, nice, nice showers, bathrooms, laundry facilities, and a communal kitchen. Yes, it is near the main road, but all Moab campgrounds are, so expect some traffic noise but not much. The owner will give good environmental info about the area. The location is good for the national parks. Also, if you have a dog, there's a great doggie area to run around in. My dog loved it!
