As others have said, this is a fabulous campground. The views are breathtaking and the hiking trails are great. It does have some issues for big rigs. The driveway lengths listed on reservation.gov can be very misleading. Many of the sites slope so steeply that only a portion is usable for the RV itself. Most of the sites also have large boulders at the end of the pavement that prevents overhanging the pad, further limiting usable length. We stayed in sites 1 and 11 in our 43' coach with a dolly and a car and had no problem. Site 21 is also long enough for us, but I have my doubts about others. There is no overflow parking for cars or trailers and the rangers will not permit parking off pavement., so everything must fit in the driveway. The power posts are on the wrong side of the pull-through sites. I had to run an extension cable under the coach. There is NO water, so bring all you will need. The new sites mentioned in another review are now scheduled to open after January 1, 2018. The new back-in sites appear to be about 70' long and the pull-thrus are easily 100'. The sites are the largest I can recall ever seeing. The best views are in the old campground, especially sites 9-20. All sites, old and new, have covered patios with tables and fire pits. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The chorizo and fish tacos at Giliberto's are surprisingly good. Also check out their salsa bar. Don't miss Moab Backyard Theater, a funky outdoor venue with fun shows and local live music Mar-Oct. Take chairs or get there early to get a hay bale seat. Wednesday night bluegrass is my favorite. BYOB, too.

If you remember to take lots of water with you, you will enjoy this campground and the surrounding area immensely. The camp workers work very hard to keep it clean (they were painting areas when we arrived). Super friendly camp host and workers. We loved being close to the vistas in Dead Horse State Park with breathtaking views that we thought were better than others in the area. We would definitely return. Super close to Canyonlands and a little further to Arches but it was a pleasure to drive and see the views. No hookups but dump station in campground. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Motorhome.

This campground offers a unique experience with it's location high above the Colorado River. The campground is adding an additional 30 sites which are scheduled to be available in late October. The current sites are well spaced and offer covered picnic tables. Most sites are unlevel, front to back, but not too badly. There are flush toilets and dishwashing sinks but no showers. RVs need to bring their own water - no RV water is available. The Maverick convenience store in Moab offers free potable water. There are wonderful hiking and mountain biking trails. Great canyon views. The park rangers are very nice and can offer many suggestions on what to do. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed dinner at the Moab Brewery in town. We spent 7 nights at Dead Horse Point and stayed busy visiting and hiking in the National Parks. A good 4x4 high clearance road is Shafer Trail down from Canyonland National Park.

Dead Horse Point is conveniently located between Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The sites were extremely private with small pine and juniper trees providing lots of cover. Our site had two groomed tent pads as well as a lovely sheltered picnic table with a light and cabinet for food storage. Sites were level with electronic and limited cellular service. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The rim hike is a good one from the campground and sunrises/ sets are gorgeous! The view of the Colorado from the visitors center is outstanding. This campground provides an excellent vantage for viewing the Milky Way!

We seriously loved our stay here! Gorgeous park with amazing views, friendly and helpful hosts, a really nice dog friendly 4.5 mile trail with spectacular views. Very, very quiet at night with great star gazing. As previously mentioned, 30amp electric only at each site, but a dump station is in the park. Sites are mostly nicely spaced each with two large tent spots, a gazebo, and picnic table. The bad news is there are only two sites in the park which are big rig friendly. Our site, 21, was probably our favorite in the entire park with no close neighbors, very long (although a bit barrow), and a huge corner lot. The other big rig site, 01, is a pull through which is also nice. Several other sites looked to be a bit uneven front to back, but smaller rigs under 30' shouldn't have too much of a problem. Very difficult to get reservations, so plan ahead. They will be adding about 30 additional sites in the future which will be nice. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our camping experience at Dead Horse Point, we stayed here whilst visiting the National Parks in the area. Easy check in, sites have some privacy from other campers but beware of the stated lengths of the sites, some of that length is on a steep slope, we had great difficulty fitting in our 31 ft fifth wheel onto our site that was advertised as 35ft. Very well maintained facilities. Great views from both the site and the state park. Bring a full tank of water as none available on site. One dump station available at the entrance to sites. All sites had electricity. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park sits on top of a mesa overlooking the Canyon. The views and trails are fabulous. This campground has no water available and very little shade. There are flush toilets and sinks but no showers in the restrooms. No water at the sites or public spigots anywhere to be found. Make sure to fill your water tanks before arriving. Only dumpster is on your way out at the dump station. Many of the sites are sloped requiring extra leveling efforts. Each site had a covered picnic table with food storage. We had a couple of Kitt Foxes spend some time around our camp site.

Make sure to stop at the visitor center and ask about the moonlight hike. We would definitely camp here again. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to camp near one of the most beautiful areas in Utah. Yes there is electric, but no water, fill up before you arrive. Sites are nicely spaced, you don't feel crowded and the wild is at your back door. We had Kitt Foxes and hummingbirds, squirrels and jays. Great hiking trails and Visitor center. All in all a remarkable place to visit. Very dark skies for the astronomy crowd and photographers. Most sites have lovely shaded buildings around the picnic tables. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent park in the Arches / Moab / Canyonlands area. Unique features make the park interesting. Perfect views of the Colorado River and east side of Canyonlands Nat'l Park. Nice sites with tent pads and well covered picnic tables with storage, power & light fixtures. No water in the campground, so plan ahead. Lots of interesting desert creatures running around at night like rabbits & foxes. So far, our favorite park in our favorite area. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, especially Arches. The area is packed with outdoor activity and Moab is developing an interesting downtown. Watch the weather. We've seen snow in May and triple digit temps in June, and it is always windy.

This campground has NO WATER available. There are flush toilets and sinks in the restrooms, but no water at sites or public spigots. There are no showers. Make sure to fill your water tanks before arriving. The campground is small and sites are hard to get - reserve early online. Choose your site carefully as some are very short or on slopes.

The fabulous views and trails at this state park make any inconvenience worthwhile. It sits on top of a mesa overlooking huge canyons near the town of Moab. Hiking and biking trails are available. There is a visitor center with exhibits and a gift shop. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Motorhome.

I love this place and will be coming back for more times next year. They have to truck in water, so make sure you fill your fresh water tanks before you arrive, but that was the only real negative. Sites are adequately large and paved, and electric worked well. Sites on the north and east sides are a little high so they have a slight view. And the view less than I mile down the road were incredibly spectacular--actually much better in my opinion than the views in the next door Canyonlands National Park. You can see several oxbow bends of the Colorado River and the cars and boats on the river 2,000 feet down the canyon. Also, I was able to get just a tiny bit of Verizon, so I was able to make calls and use my jetpack for internet. Extremely quiet because it is so far from highways. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Motorhome.

Have stayed here a couple times. Most sites are well spaced. There is no shade but sites come with a covered picnic table. There is even an electric outlet by the table. Leveling will be needed at almost all sites. Its about 30 miles to nearest gas/food, so come prepared. Also, the only water in the park is a single faucet outside the bathroom. Bathroom is modern and was always clean. Not that big a park and being so far out, advance reservations are recommended (about half the sites can be reserved). Park was extremely quiet, both during the day and at night. Dump is at front of campground and has easy in/out access.

The park visitor center is walkable from the campground. A great base camp if you want to see Canyonlands NP. We most likely will come back here again. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Motorhome.

Dead Horse Point Campground is close to Canyonlands NP and 35-45 min from Arches NP and Moab and about 5-10 degrees cooler than. This is a very nice small (21 sites and narrow road) campground with electrical hook-up. The paved areas can be rather small and steep, but the sites are generally large with a covered picnic table and a separate tent camping pad area. The restrooms were very clean individual toilet and sinks (no showers). The facility had a dump site but no potable water. Views from most campsites are very nice since the campground is tiered. There is no shade since the area only has Juniper bushes. The campground is generally full, but we got a canceled 33 ft campsite at noon on a Friday after we called ahead to check availability. They do have a few first come first serve sites and if someone is checking out they will let you know the day prior so you can be at the visitor center at 8:00 to get the site if you so desire. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Dead Horse Point is an absolutely spectacular place to stay in the Moab area. The views from the point (just a mile from the campground) are some of the best in the world. Having electric hookups is nice and since the campground in Canyonlands is first-come, first-served, getting a reservation at Dead Horse is a way to guarantee a campsite. The hiking in the park is wonderful and there are canyon overlooks just a short hike from the park. There are several pretty large sites and many small ones. Early reservations are a must as this is a very popular park. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
