Big changes at Portal! We've stayed here several times and it keeps getting better. There is a new office that has a very nice gym with all the equipment one could want and a new pool and spa being completed. The pool is for the campground section and I'm sure will see plenty of use during the hot season. Our favorite thing here is the pond that the dogs use, crystal clear and spring fed, our dog swims every day and absolutely loves it. Also, after staying in other RV parks in the area, we really appreciate how quiet it is as it's set well off the highway....no truck noise! We requested the same spot as last year (R57) on the resort side and were very happy that the pergola now has a solid roof on it, and screening around it, so it's cool and shady. Also, tons of room for our Jeep and pickup. We come here for the mountain biking, but hanging out in our hammocks under the pergola checking out the view is pretty nice too! We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Atomic Grill next door is unbelievably good! Really eclectic menu and the Atomic margarita is the best I've ever had.

This place seems overpriced, although it does have cable. Great red rock views all around. We didn't even bother with the crowded national parks, and just enjoyed the red rocks from the campground. Looks like a pool and spa is being constructed right now.

There is a strange division between the rich "resort" side of the park and the poor "campground" side of the park. You are not allowed to use pool at the resort side if you're on the campground side. Paved sites available on the resort side. The only complaint I have about this place is the price.

Nice dog park in the back of park with great views. Also a swimming pond for humans, and one for dogs. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Park has 2 sections-a campground side and a resort side. The resort side has huge concert pads some with patios and pergolas. Some pull in and some pull through. Manicured grounds. New reception and club in progress of completion. New laundry. Great place to base yourself on Moab. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was our second stay at Portal and first time in the campground section. While not as nice and with smaller sites then the resort section, it wasn't bad. The sites are pretty narrow with very close neighbors, but no worse than most private campgrounds. It is a very convenient location to visit the many state and national parks in the area (and to do some jeeping !). There are two rows of full hookup 50amp pull throughs, one row of full hookup 30 amp pull throughs, and one row of full hookup 50 amp back ins. We preferred the back in sites as there was a bit more space between them and there was a grassy strip behind (the only non gravel area in the campground section). As before, the hilight for the dogs was the very dog friendly swimming hole with pretty clear/clean water. All sites are mostly level and long enough for big rigs. A couple of dings....the roads are gravel and drivers do not obey the speed limit so there is a lot of dust which gets kicked up. The owners are pretty fond of their plants, so don't let them see your dog peeing on any. This will remain our location when visiting the area, but mainly because of the swimming hole for the dogs. Reservations are suggested as they do host rally's and it is a popular spot. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice RV park AND Resort. Most if not all of their sites are pull thru. The roads are nicely paved and the sites are fine gravel. The young lady at check-in was very helpful and suggested places to go and things to see. Overall, this is an excellent park when visiting the Moab area. It's only about three miles to Arches NP. They have two areas here, the campground and the RV resort. The resort looks very nice with concrete pads a pool and grass lawns. I understand you can stay there but the "regular" RV park is very nice and fine for our visit. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the resort half of the campground in a very nice site. It was wide enough that we could park our car next to the RV, as though we had 2 spots. There were plantings and a swing. The park is very dog friendly -- 2 nice sized runs and a dog pond. It has views of the red cliffs -- very pretty, especially at sunset. The laundry room was clean and had quite a few machines, although the dryer took forever. The one problem was the smell of horse manure in the evening. I don't know if that's actually what it was because the only 2 horses we saw were a large field away and contained, but there was an odor. Nevertheless, we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We had stayed at Portal 2 years ago and were looking forward to staying there again. Many things stayed the same. Nice sites, clean bathrooms, good location, but something had changed. We felt alienated as a renter in an ownership resort. This started during checkin when we were told any damage to the lot would be a minimum of a $150 charge. Then we all had to wear orange bands while in the park. We saw no other orange bands, so I assume all others at the pool were owners. And the "others" didn't talk to us. We own 2 lots a one of the premier ownership parks in the country. We do not make renters wear bands. We go out of our way to be nice to renters. Why? Because they are your next owners. We did not experience this level of segregation 2 years ago. We will find another nice place to stay next time we're in Moab. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the premium side of the resort, large concrete pads and plenty of space between sites. Well maintained, the staff attend to the landscaping and surrounding areas each morning. There had been a heavy rain a few days before our arrival and there was a lingering smell of the septic system, plus one of the dog parks had goopy residual mud on the grass. Good internet and access to the sky for our satellite dish ... just. There are high buildings on some of the premium sites which could easily block the sky if you are assigned a site right next to these buildings. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice park just off of 191 Hwy. The "Park" is divided with a Resort area on one end and a Park area on the other. The roads are paved and the sites are concrete. The Resort is nicely landscaped with trees and a Koi Pond. Because of maintenance, the turns coming in were a little snug but doable! All utilities worked without issue. We will definitely return here. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed here in April 2008 and loved it. The park has since expanded and has two sections, the general public and resort/owner sections. Sites in the resort/owner sections have level concrete pads and are very spacious and nice. If you stay in the resort/owner section, you can use the nice, in-ground pool. Sites in the general public section are gravel. If you want to swim you have to use the swimming pond. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

In addition to Arches NP, we visited and recommend a visit to Dead Horse State Park. We booked an evening, 2-hour New Zealand style jet boat trip up the Colorado with Moab Jett and loved it! Take some time and walk through Moab. Vist the Moab Rock Shop, it is neat store and their products are reasonably priced. Avoid Moab Giants Dinosaur Museum, take it from us...it is a rip off!

So, there are two sections to this RV park. In my opinion, there should be a spot to review each section of the park. We stayed in the resort side. Hands down, it is the nicest RV resort we have stayed in, to date. The grounds are immaculate, the dog run is perfect size, the pool is great, the space between sites is perfect, etc. It is one of the very best. We had LTE from AT&T and the park has WiFi but warns against streaming, which I can appreciate. Also, the views of the Moab bluffs is striking in the morning as the sun rises. Go to El Charro Loco for the best Mexican restaurant in town. The service is a little slow but is easily made up for by the food. Be sure to go to Delicate Arch, in Arches National Park, at sunset. The colors are amazing. There is so much to do so spend your time wisely!

This campground is really two different places in one. There is a regular RV campground for the general public and a second private ownership RV resort. The difference is like flying coach (campground) vs flying first class (RV resort). We stayed at the resort which you can rent a space from the private owner (via the regular office which serves both places). The campground packs them in tighter, gravel sites, etc. The resort sites are very spacious, landscaped, has a pool, paved roads, etc. Both are very centrally located just minutes from Arches or Moab town center. Good wifi (can only comment resort side). If you can get a site on the resort side, it's a no brainier. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a nice RV Park with nice owners about a mile north of downtown Moab and just a couple miles south of Arches NP. We stayed on the RV park side, there is also a owner's resort side that can be used when available for a higher nightly rate. RV park side has a small swimming pond, resort side has a pool. There is a small, older playground for kids. The bathrooms we used were very clean and nice. Good experience and good park overall to do the things around Moab. Seems a little pricey for what it is, but pricing seemed on par for Moab. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nicest and most spacious part in Moab just north of town ..premium site base rate was $65 + tax per night but our overnight rate includes 10% FMCA was $58.50 plus14.3% taxes. Fairly good Wifi , full hookup 50 amps and cable Tv strong, sites in resort area lovely, wide and ours M34 with shade in some parts of day over looked Coi Fosh pond. Resort section has private pool , showers & bath, concrete pads and landscaping and some sites are owned may have added amenities. While park section uses a swim pond in the ground and no shade, just rocks, gravel drives. No gate between Park and Resort sections .No curb trash pickup or rec room in the entire development. Resort still in the development stages and building rec facilities. Highway sign is difficult to see so just go about 1+ miles north of town to turn left into the area and office is a Construction trailer . Very lovely and many repeat guests . Sites for sale but most of all are leased. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.
