This is a review of the resort side of things at this two in one park. We were on a huge back in site between a couple Casitas. Beautiful landscaping, and pool/hot tub across the street. Couldn't get a better concrete site. Power and water good, but cable a bit on the fuzzy side. If I was an owner, I wouldn't be happy as they seem to be missing it on some of the details of running a top notch place...dog park in owner section wet and gross from lack of runoff. No security at night. We had non-campground people cruising the campground to see if they could hook up with people taking jeeps into the desert. They have a snow fence between the ownership section and the regular campground...needs to be upgraded to a real fence. Pool needed cleaning....lots of dead bugs. Mostly detail stuff. I also noticed that they were not raking out the gravel in the non-ownership side between guests...something that would be done at a top notch place. All in all, this is where we would stay again if in the area, but they could really make it spectacular if they put in more detail work. I still give it a good solid 9. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

After reading the reviews, we decided to stay here. Like has been said on other reviews, there are two parts to the park, the resort area, where we stayed was beautiful. There are pull-through sites, pull-in sites and back-in sites. The smallest are 40' by 80'. The lots in the resort area are for sale with about 1/3 of the sold. The concrete pads were double wide at the entrance so there was plenty of room to park vehicles and trailers if you have them. We were in one of the pull-in sites facing a large Coy pond. Natural landscaping between each site was beautiful and very tastefully done. The pool and hot tub were wonderful and the view looking North is spectacular. The Wi-Fi was good, but not very fast. Extremely easy access to both sides of the park. We would definitely stay here again. The campground was also very nice. Paved roads, gravel sites with a concrete pad and a picnic table. Some smaller trees. If we were staying longer we would probably stay in the campground and not the resort to save some money. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects a pull-thru water/30 amp site in the "park" area. I had stayed here in 2007, and everything on this trip was pretty much as I remembered it. Sites were easy to get into, site was level, utilities worked fine and Wi-Fi was acceptable. Would probably stay here again. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Easy to find. Location and scenery would give this park a 10. Gravel parking spot in full sun, very few trees. 2 separate parks, South side for Class A's 10 years or newer or if you were an owner of the parking spot, there was a beautiful clubhouse and pool. North side was for everyone else included a man made swimming pond which was scary looking. Laundry facility was old and washers smelled. Catered to tent campers, had a dish washing facility. Rest rooms and showers weren't cleaned daily. Also communal shower building with separate shower rooms, which were crowded when group of tent campers came. Was not cleaned daily. WIFI was spotty at best. Resort cost without the resort amenities. View and location along with pull through full hook ups were great. Would not stay again, would spend extra $10 a night and stay elsewhere. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Clean, gravel sites, with very few trees. Paved interior roads and cement pads to sit out on. Very good location to see Arches National Park and close to Moab. We would stay here again. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

This RV park is divided into the "Campground' and 'Resort." Both are nice. The Campground section is $39 per night. The campground sites are gravel but adequate size. The Resort sites are concrete and very large. Otherwise there is not much difference between the "campground" and the "resort." Wireless internet is good. The park is well maintained with nice landscaping. Downtown Moab is close as is the Colorado River. All sites are easily accessible for big rigs. Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for two nights in Site #38. There is some shade in the campground, but not much. This park is overrated for the amount of money charged and the condition of the bathroom and laundry facilities, which we found to be in need of cleaning whenever we used them. (The shower stalls, sinks, washing machines and dryer were dirty and outdated.) The check-in went smoothly and we were allowed to choose our site even after making a prior reservation via phone six months in advance. There are other parks in the vicinity that were more appealing. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The 10 rating is based on staying in the "resort" paved section of the facility with use of the pool and a view of a beautiful little pond stocked with fish. If rating the non resort gravel surfaced portion of the facility I would drop my rating to a 7+. You kind of get what you pay for and as the years go by this campground is rumored to go 100% Resort. The owner/operator is very creative and desirous of creating the best RV lot ownership resort in the Moab area. The resort section offers one of the best RV experiences in the Moab area. As the other reviews mentioned, there are two zones at Portal. The gravel area and the new, concrete area. We had made reservations for site 17 a year ago which is in the gravel area but when we arrived they told us that if we stayed in the gravel area we'd have to move after a few days but we could stay in the concrete area and not have to move. It's quite a bit more expensive. This was within their rights of course but the "mix-up" was their fault, they admitted it. So we paid more and took the concrete site. Portal has a nice reputation in the Motorhome world but their reservation system seems to need improvement. Others we spoke with had problems as well. We choose this park on driving by as it was situated back from the road. The drive down was not very nice, however once in there the park was good and we enjoyed our stay here. You need to note the park is divided in two, resort and camping - the camping side is not allowed to use the resort facilities such as pool, spa etc. There is a watering hole you can swim in, but I would not class this as a swimming pool. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would camp here again. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

While this place is beautiful and well-maintained, we could not give it a stellar rating because of the parking issue. As the name implies, this is both a campground as well as a resort where individual sites may be purchased. When you make a reservation, you have no control over where you will be parked. When I called and made a reservation, I specifically noted I was in a 45' motorhome pulling a 24' trailer and NEEDED a pull-through. I was told that was no problem. When I arrived I was assigned one of the very few sites on the outer row in the resort section THAT WASN'T A PULL-THROUGH. The young lady who checked us in pointed out that it was, in fact, 100' long so I shouldn't have any problems. Problem is, It has some extra landscaping that made it difficult to get in, and almost impossible to back out. What she failed to mention, when I expressed real concern over our ability to navigate in and out, is that there is a large area where I could have parked the trailer and disconnected, making this a much more enjoyable stay. On the plus side, it is well-maintained and policed. Two enclosed dog runs make it great if you travel with pets. It is VERY PRICEY for what you get. Wi-Fi was marginal, cell phone coverage good. Moab is a great place to visit and the Arches National Park is a true marvel. We wouldn't stay here again because they didn't honor their commitment for a pull-through and we fretted for two days about the difficulty we might encounter getting out. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.
