This campground is divided into "campground" side and "resort" side consisting of privately owned sites on a rental program. We were excited upon receiving our reservation because it said we'd be on the "resort" side. At arrival I accepted our assigned site assuming it was correct. It wasn't until after we were set up that I realized we were in the campground side. The sites here although level, are no better than any KOA. The dog park is right next to a pond "campground side swimming hole", and each night we had to spray ourselves down to ward off the mosquitos. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Highly recommend the Blue Pig for BBQ, and Moab Diner for breakfast/lunch after visiting one of the parks. Those who are young and fit will get the most out of the area. If you hike, cycle, raft, 4 wheel, rock crawl, ATV/UTV, or skydive...this is the place for you.

Overall Rating:

The park is in a great location: pretty views, easy to town and the parks. We "sprung" for the resort section thinking that the difference would be worth it. It was not. Although the sections are technically "separate" it is not really obvious. True the "resort" section has larger sites, some also have nice trees, and/or pergolas with furniture, and all but one are landscaped. Ours R53 had no trees and was the only one not landscaped: we just had two mounds of dirt outside our door.

Staying for 13 nights one would have thought they would have tried to put us in a nicer spot. The only other benefit that I could see for the $15 extra a day was access to a very small pool which had no shade to relax in. Hence we barely used it. If I were to stay here again, I would save the money and opt for the regular part of the park. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This review is about the "campground" portion of the park not the resort.

The sites are crushed gravel with a small concrete patio for the picnic table. Most of the sites are pull through. If better level our site would have accommodated the RV and Toad at 50 feet. The "resort/owners" section appears to be very nice. Overall, I would try a different park when in the area again.

Pros:

Great location just north of Moab makes it quiet but convenient.

Some shade. Utilities worked as expected.

Better than normal WiFi and for ATT and Verizon

Dog area is great. Grass with a bench and shade trees.

Cons:

The restrooms in the permanent structure do not include showers and are not air conditioned. Today it is 105 in Moab.

They have brought in a trailer with portal shower/toilets. It has three stalls. Each with a toilet and shower. It is air conditioned but the smell in the three stalls is wretched.

The Swimming Pond is in no way a substitute for a swimming pool. Again 105 in Moab today.

The Laundry facilities are lacking with the ceiling partly falling down.

The first three rows of pull through sites slope back to front so much that my levelers could not get the front end high enough even with both wheels off the ground. We had ramps and pads so it worked out for us but others will have issues.

Site spacing can be tight. One night we had a travel trailer with a deep slide on our patio side. His slide extended over onto our patio concrete. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great place to anchor to visit Arches, Canyonland, Dead Horse and Moab. The City Market in Moab was well stocked but extremely busy on the two occasions we stopped. We ate at the Moab Brewery. The local beer was good but the service was slow at lunch.

Overall Rating:

Located in the center of the action just a few miles from Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Dead Horse State Park, and the tourist mecca of Moab, this park is a good base for lots of fun. Gravel access roads, although a bit tight, are easy to navigate. Our pull-thru gravel site was just long enough for our 37' MH and toad. A few small trees give at least a bit of shade from the blistering sun. Although sites are provided with a concrete patio and picnic table, they are narrow and densely packed. Water, sewer, and electric hookups function well, though a 15' stretch to the sewer did require a hose extension. WiFi signal was strong and but Internet connectivity and thruput were somewhat spotty. We did not use the bathrooms. Laundromat was average. Doug, the owner, was friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Although not the least expensive park of our summer trip, we were happy to pay the price for power to run the A/C in the 100°+ heat, and thought it was a reasonable value. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We reserved a pull thru site with full hook ups. Someone called and said those were taken, but I could have a pull thru with no sewer. We agreed, but we were not told that those sites had only 30 amps. You can't run a big rig on 30 amps. Since all other RV parks were booked, we stayed only one night and left Moab the next morning. The RV park was kind enough to refund the portion of our money that we did not use. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Pros of this park are location to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, electricity worked without issue, and Wifi worked flawlessly. Cons include having to move during a 7 day stay. I asked repeatedly if I could keep my site; however one worker told me she did not know how to move sites. I saw others having to move as well. Training of employees in order. Shower only used one time in the early am, but it did not appear to be very clean. Personal items and bandaids left in shower from previous user/s. The website states discount, but did not get it with my first check in, only the second one when I moved and at my insistence. For 42 dollars a night I expect a pool at a minimum. The tiny pool that is there is only for the membership sites that are sold at 125k per pop which is too much for me to pay to buy a pool. You are surrounded by jeeps and OHV's. Save yourself some money and stay at a cheaper place. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Easy to find. Location and scenery would give this park a 10. Gravel parking spot in full sun, very few trees. 2 separate parks, South side for Class A's 10 years or newer or if you were an owner of the parking spot, there was a beautiful clubhouse and pool. North side was for everyone else included a man made swimming pond which was scary looking. Laundry facility was old and washers smelled. Catered to tent campers, had a dish washing facility. Rest rooms and showers weren't cleaned daily. Also communal shower building with separate shower rooms, which were crowded when group of tent campers came. Was not cleaned daily. WIFI was spotty at best. Resort cost without the resort amenities. View and location along with pull through full hook ups were great. Would not stay again, would spend extra $10 a night and stay elsewhere. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park for two nights in Site #38. There is some shade in the campground, but not much. This park is overrated for the amount of money charged and the condition of the bathroom and laundry facilities, which we found to be in need of cleaning whenever we used them. (The shower stalls, sinks, washing machines and dryer were dirty and outdated.) The check-in went smoothly and we were allowed to choose our site even after making a prior reservation via phone six months in advance. There are other parks in the vicinity that were more appealing. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

While this place is beautiful and well-maintained, we could not give it a stellar rating because of the parking issue. As the name implies, this is both a campground as well as a resort where individual sites may be purchased. When you make a reservation, you have no control over where you will be parked. When I called and made a reservation, I specifically noted I was in a 45' motorhome pulling a 24' trailer and NEEDED a pull-through. I was told that was no problem. When I arrived I was assigned one of the very few sites on the outer row in the resort section THAT WASN'T A PULL-THROUGH. The young lady who checked us in pointed out that it was, in fact, 100' long so I shouldn't have any problems. Problem is, It has some extra landscaping that made it difficult to get in, and almost impossible to back out. What she failed to mention, when I expressed real concern over our ability to navigate in and out, is that there is a large area where I could have parked the trailer and disconnected, making this a much more enjoyable stay. On the plus side, it is well-maintained and policed. Two enclosed dog runs make it great if you travel with pets. It is VERY PRICEY for what you get. Wi-Fi was marginal, cell phone coverage good. Moab is a great place to visit and the Arches National Park is a true marvel. We wouldn't stay here again because they didn't honor their commitment for a pull-through and we fretted for two days about the difficulty we might encounter getting out. This is overall a nice campground. We stayed in the Resort side where you get access to the pool and nice long concrete pads. The issue was with the rules. It specifically states No Washing. We observed at least three different people some with power washers running loud, washing their rigs. Also the bathrooms are anything but spotless! They both smell of mold and have spider webs behind doors that the cleaning people must not look at. Also in the men room, only two of the three sinks work. The owner is around, but seems obsessed with selling long term spots then really taking care of the place as it should be at this price. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Most unusual place we have ever stayed. The original (front) half if old and dumpy - which is where the 3 washers (1 not working) and 3 dryers are. The back half is designed to be ownership spaces - they are very large and that section has the pool / hot tub (off limits to those staying in the front half). But the plan was to sell these into 3 story condos - first floor only garage / storage as they are in a floor plain. So there are two of them. And no more planned and not selling driveways / sites for $125K right now. And there is a nice dog park back there. They have, without question, the finest bathroom / shower we have ever seen in 130+ private parks we have seen - but it was built for this ownership deal and had to be nice. But even the back area had knee high weeds between sites. And the whole place smelled all the time from the cattle, etc, right next door. Would only go back if Moab Valley were booked solid as they were this time. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a tale of two parks, one of them inexpensive and in usable, but old condition. The other a new area where they are trying to sell ownership lots, that is paved with wide concrete pads and a pool. Unfortunately the wireless does not work. We stayed here 5 days and never did get it to work on either of our two computers. We stayed in the newer area and the hookups and site were great. This park has great access to the national parks on the north side of town. We might stay here again, but not if the wireless does not work. The concrete pad in the "Premium" section was spacious but that is as far as it went. Other than the landscaping around Koi Pond, there was nothing but weeds and dirt. The only landscaped site was one of the resort's owners. Things are in disrepair. In the tent area one pavilion is laying on the ground. The fence near the dumpster was falling over. The barnyard odors were not pleasant. The view from the back row of "Premium" sites is a gravel vehicle storage lot. It may be the best place to camp in Moab but it has a long way to go to be a luxury resort. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.
