We stayed here only one night and didn't use amenities like the pool, so our review may not be complete. But sites were clean, well maintained, with patio and picnic table. Most of the rigs here were larger Class As. It seemed to offer larger, nicer spaces than other campgrounds in Moab. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Slow down when entering the driveway. With several driveways nearby, its hard to tell which is for the campground, and the entry roadway is a little rough.

This is a resort primarily full of high end huge motorhomes. Half of the park has concrete driveways, huge sites, and a private pool; it's similar to the price of a cheap hotel. The other half costs less (still more than we have paid for any other RV site in well over 40 states) and has gravel sites, close together. Well maintained with wide asphalt roads, especially nice for large rvs. Nice outer areas for walking dogs on leash, plus 2 dog parks). We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here when we visited Arches and Canyonlands. The campground is back off of 191 and quiet, no road noise. It has 2 sections that flow into each other. A regular section and a Premium section where they say the sites are privately owned and rented out. We stayed in the Premium section which we felt the prices were too high. Yes, we did have a concrete pad. All the sites were spacious for both areas. The Premium section had it's own pool which we didn't use, looked clean. The restrooms and showers were very clean for both sections. The regular section has a pool in the process of being built. Their web site said it would be finished this spring, it's not finished. There are 2 swimming holes, one for pets and one for people. Both have a very unattractive farm wire fence. Not appealing at all. In the Premium section, the initial part started out great looking , this is what you see on their web site, but as you went further out into it the Premium sites the vegetation was less and the drip system was barely working. Also behind the Premium sites is a gravel area for a trailer storage lot, very unattractive. There's also a marshy area behind the property - very buggy and too dangerous if your kids wander. There are 2 dog parks and the solar lighting in the smaller one is very dim and the no lighting for the larger one. People also don't clean up after their dogs. The park has lots of rules, they don't enforce. Would we stay here again, maybe. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a difficult campground to rate. It's really two campgrounds adjacent to each other. We stayed in the resort side and it was top notch. Very well laid out, maintained, landscaped, long concrete pads. Just beautiful. But pricey. Thus the 7 rating. Then there was the normal campground. Sites were close to each other. Noticeable lack of grounds maintenance. Some minor construction. Two unappealing ponds ... one for kids, one for dogs. It was not an attractive campground. Thus the 7 rating. Close proximity to downtown Moab though. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed several days on the Resort side since that was the only space available, and we had to move slots after 3 days. While our site is listed as a pull through, the exit is blocked by boulders (R48). The park is nice, clean and located on the North side of Moab which makes for easy commute to Arches and Canyonlands. The two sides aren't well delineated and it seems odd (silly) that they have separate privelages. While the park is nice, it's rather pricey. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

There are actually two parks within this park. The first is an owner type Park but they do have spaces to rent but you must meet strict requirements for your motorhome or 5th wheel. We stayed in the campground. Seemed a little weird to have special services for the resort people and kind of treated other people like second-class individuals. Other than that our site was nice and level it was a back in sight had 50 amp service sewer and great water pressure. The wi-fi at this park is one of the few that works relatively well. A few of the other campers we're fairly rude as far as noise and late night activities. One thing about Park is on event weekends it can get very noisy. I imagine all the parks in the area can get loud with all the ATVs and so on. Another negative thing about this park and various other Parks throughout getting in and out of the park on the weekend can be very intense. Traffic is very very heavy in Moab and the infrastructure does not meet the demand for the people in the area. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

There are a lot of restaurants in Moab which gives you quite a different variety of foods. However on weekends getting into a restaurant may involve quite a wait.

We had two different stays in two weeks in the plebeian part of the park (There is an extra fancy section but mere travel trailers don't qualify). This is a very nice but fairly expensive RV Park. While the spaces are tight I can't say they are too tight. Our first site had reversed polarity for the electric but the CG had an alternative for us that was fine. Second sit had no such problem. The staff is friendly and really stays on top of cleanliness. You would expect that at these prices and you get it. Unusual for a CG, they have a small gym and even had pilates classes that we took advantage of. We did snoop around Moab and didn't see another CG that we'd rather be in. This place seems overpriced, although it does have cable. Great red rock views all around. We didn't even bother with the crowded national parks, and just enjoyed the red rocks from the campground. Looks like a pool and spa is being constructed right now.

There is a strange division between the rich "resort" side of the park and the poor "campground" side of the park. You are not allowed to use pool at the resort side if you're on the campground side. Paved sites available on the resort side. The only complaint I have about this place is the price.

Nice dog park in the back of park with great views. Also a swimming pond for humans, and one for dogs. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This was our second stay at Portal and first time in the campground section. While not as nice and with smaller sites then the resort section, it wasn't bad. The sites are pretty narrow with very close neighbors, but no worse than most private campgrounds. It is a very convenient location to visit the many state and national parks in the area (and to do some jeeping !). There are two rows of full hookup 50amp pull throughs, one row of full hookup 30 amp pull throughs, and one row of full hookup 50 amp back ins. We preferred the back in sites as there was a bit more space between them and there was a grassy strip behind (the only non gravel area in the campground section). As before, the hilight for the dogs was the very dog friendly swimming hole with pretty clear/clean water. All sites are mostly level and long enough for big rigs. A couple of dings....the roads are gravel and drivers do not obey the speed limit so there is a lot of dust which gets kicked up. The owners are pretty fond of their plants, so don't let them see your dog peeing on any. This will remain our location when visiting the area, but mainly because of the swimming hole for the dogs. Reservations are suggested as they do host rally's and it is a popular spot. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We had stayed at Portal 2 years ago and were looking forward to staying there again. Many things stayed the same. Nice sites, clean bathrooms, good location, but something had changed. We felt alienated as a renter in an ownership resort. This started during checkin when we were told any damage to the lot would be a minimum of a $150 charge. Then we all had to wear orange bands while in the park. We saw no other orange bands, so I assume all others at the pool were owners. And the "others" didn't talk to us. We own 2 lots a one of the premier ownership parks in the country. We do not make renters wear bands. We go out of our way to be nice to renters. Why? Because they are your next owners. We did not experience this level of segregation 2 years ago. We will find another nice place to stay next time we're in Moab. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the resort half of the campground in a very nice site. It was wide enough that we could park our car next to the RV, as though we had 2 spots. There were plantings and a swing. The park is very dog friendly -- 2 nice sized runs and a dog pond. It has views of the red cliffs -- very pretty, especially at sunset. The laundry room was clean and had quite a few machines, although the dryer took forever. The one problem was the smell of horse manure in the evening. I don't know if that's actually what it was because the only 2 horses we saw were a large field away and contained, but there was an odor. Nevertheless, we would definitely stay here again. This is a nice RV Park with nice owners about a mile north of downtown Moab and just a couple miles south of Arches NP. We stayed on the RV park side, there is also a owner's resort side that can be used when available for a higher nightly rate. RV park side has a small swimming pond, resort side has a pool. There is a small, older playground for kids. The bathrooms we used were very clean and nice. Good experience and good park overall to do the things around Moab. Seems a little pricey for what it is, but pricing seemed on par for Moab. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
