We had a pull through site that's located right on the camp's back road, which provided good privacy. Not so for the other five pull throughs, which are right next to each other. The back ins have picnic tables between each site. The site is mainly packed dirt and there are a few trees. The bathrooms and showers were clean. WiFi was OK. One of the staff was very accommodating and also gave us a DVD of himself being a quick shooter. It was OK for the one night stay. Get site 20 which is a pull through on the interior road for some privacy, albeit no shade. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a small RV park that also has cabins and tent spaces. It's pretty much all gravel, driveways and site pads. We had a back-in space with full hookups and 50 amp electric. The site is surrounded by what could be a grassy area with a picnic table but there isn't much grass so it was kind of muddy when we were there. The bathroom (I think there's only one) was in good condition. The WiFi was OK, we used it, but it was sluggish most of the time. The on-site hosts are a very nice couple that can give you some good pointers for local sightseeing. We paid $33.49 per night. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is not a campground in a hot parking lot! The owner is great - has lived in the area forever and answered every question we had about places to check into. We had a site in front with lots of shade, level and no traffic noise. Over the air TV and good wifi. We would return here! We camped at Old West RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Small park but level sites and good utilities. Sites are close together but the sidewalks in Monticello are rolled up early and it was very, very quiet. RV parks only serve as a base for us to explore the surrounding area anyway. We did not have reservations but were able to get a site twice. I assume it is much busier later in the year. No fire rings which was nice - no smoky fires going on nearby. The owner was very helpful and friendly, with easy check-in and made sure we got situated OK. This guy was just setting all the right switches for being a really, really good guy - salt of the earth. Monticello is just the right distance from home for first and last night of a trip and we will definitely stay here again. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Monticello is well-situated for visiting Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. Not too far from Moab either if you want to avoid the crush of that town.

This is a basic, no frills RV park that is a real value. Like most private parks in this area the sites are pretty close together, however they are comfortable enough to provide a great stay. The owner is a great guy and did everything possible to make our stay great. The park is small and quiet. All sites are easy to get in even for larger 5th wheels or motor homes. There is another nice RV park in Monticello but next time I'm back in this area I'll stay again at The Old West. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The host makes this place great. The owner cares about his customers and makes you feel welcome. Our campsite was average for the area. You don't have the crowd and the cost like Moab. Nice town and people and great touring in the area. We will return here if back in area. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Motorhome.

I rarely give a 10 rating but this small campground rates this based on hospitality alone. The owner is a sharp shooter and will entertain you with a short demo if you ask him. He and his good friend entertained us one evening with his gun show and many stories. He also gives you a DVD of his shooting demonstrations. This is a small rv park and some sites are a little short and close but doable and wifi worked great. Clean bath rooms and laundry. We decided to stay another day just to rest and got to enjoy visiting with the owner and his lovely wife the evening before we left. The hospitality of the owners make this a great destination park. I will probably never have the opportunity to be out there again, but I would certainly stay there again if I could. Thanks for a fun time. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hospitality was a 10! Sites are gravel, level, with grass and table. Pavilion had a gas BBQ for all to use.

The owner gentleman, put on a sharpshooter demonstration. Easy walk to store and shops. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 10 nights, it was a great location to see the parks in the SE part of Utah. We have a Schnauzer and the owner has five of them and taught us about cheat grass that works its way in their paws and will infect them. He also is a fast draw gun shooter that we got to see at the Discovery center in town. We all had a wonderful time there. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a smaller park, in the city, close to everything we needed and close to local scenic attractions. Nice park with down home hospitality! The owner helps everyone set up! There are bathrooms, shower, and a laundry room there too. He is the process of building a pavilion and more cabins. We enjoyed our stay. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a great restaurant in town, The Peace tree, that was excellent. In the nearby town of Blanding is a Dinosaur museum that was awesome. There are many scenic drives and hikes in the area.

We came to the Old West RV Park because it had the best rate ($180 a week with full hookups) of all the RV parks in Monticello and the reviews on Google were positive. It was easy to make the reservation by phone with Jim. The park is in the middle of Monticello, a small town of about 2,000. This town has all the shopping and services we needed for a week of exploring the SE part of Utah. After a few days we extended our stay another 4 days! Within 60-90 minutes is Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, Natural Bridge NM, Monument Valley, the national forest is just 3 miles away in the Blue Mountains and it's a great place to see lots of mule deer, wild turkeys and other wildlife. The park proved to be a great home base for all those places and more. The park is level and quiet and the camp host was the best. We had numerous conversations about local places to visit. We'll definitely come back her again. Thank you for providing such a nice home base for us. We camped at Old West RV Park in a Motorhome.

The hardware store, grocery store, post office and pizza are all within 2-3 blocks of the park. Once block away is the Monticello Visitor Center with wonderful historical displays and lots of tourism and travel information.
