This park is a big rip-off. For the amount of money you're going to spend, stay nearby at a park with full hook-ups. You'll end up paying the $20 entrance fee no matter what. The website photos are photo shopped and the brochure lists an off-season (no dates actually given) rate of $50/night. And they have a NO PET policy! No hook-ups, no view, a hot gravel slot, minimal to no security, and pet unfriendly. We camped at The View Campground in a Motorhome.

The ONLY reason to stay here is the amazing scenery! This "park" is nothing more than a sloping hillside that has had a little grading to make it drive-able. We stayed one night. No hookups, VERY out of level site. Was not informed the park doesn't allow dogs when we called, we had 2 with us. Staff was unfriendly and acted like we were imposing on them by checking in. There is a $20.00 ENTRANCE fee on top of the cost for the camping site. Went to the hotel/restaurant. Walked into the restaurant wanting to have breakfast. There were 4, young Native American girls working. All of them looked at us and then proceeded to ignore us. We stood around and waited for about 5 minutes for one of them to acknowledge us and left. That pretty much sums up the overall attitude we encountered from most of the employees we came in contact with. I do have to mention, the 2 girls we dealt with in the gift shop were very friendly. We camped at The View Campground in a Motorhome.

This dry campground is located within the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. We choice this campground over others near the area because of this location. We arrived later in the day, were able to unhook, and then drive the loop through the Valley at our leisure. The sunset view from our RV was stunning. What a beautiful setting. The hotel is adjacent but far enough away so you don't get traffic through the campground. We had the breakfast buffet up at the hotel and shopped at the gift shop. I thought the jewelry selection offered here was one of the best I'd seen. We camped at The View Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you plan to drive through the Monument Valley loop, just know that it is all gravel and has huge potholes and ruts. We drove it using our F150 pickup and I still winced throughout a lot of the drive, even going just 4 or 5 MPH. If you value your beautiful car, you may want to take advantage of the driving tours offered instead.

We chose this campground based on previous reviews. Did not work out like prior reviewers. Our view was great until the group tent campers moved in and parked directly in front of us. And the one end of the campground is like a freeway, with a gravel road, and lots of dust from all the traffic driving by to check out the views. The end with minimal dust is located behind all the little cabins. On another note, we went to check out the guided trips thru the park and was told that the cost for a 2 1/2 hour trip was $130 per person. We said," OK, thanks" and walked away. The guide said, "wait............if that is too much money (which it was in our minds) we can drop the price for you". We kept walking, as it felt like we were being taken advantage of. This is a beautiful part of the world, and we are hoping that the sunsets and sun rises will be worth it, and drive thru the park on our own. We camped at The View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

For your $41.95 you do not get any hook up, no water, no electricity - which is outrageous. The campground is on top of a hill, so if it's blowing, it is very unpleasant. On the plus side you have a great view of the Mittens. The fee to come into Monument Valley is $20 per car, so it's better to stay in the park if you want to do multiple trips to see the sights. The free wifi is really only available in the office. The restrooms are excellent. There is a family toilet with change table, a single women, a single mens. Then mens and women combined multiple showers and toilets. Then a disabled bathroom with toilet, shower and basin in a large room. The water is hot and strong. There are bins for your rubbish. A dump station is at the end of the campground. We camped at The View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The value of this park is in the location and the views; otherwise it's just an expensive parking lot. There are no hookups and no amenities other than bathrooms. The RV campground is a bare gravel lot with 30 level pull-thru sites marked off by small markers and aluminum picnic tables. Sites were adequately large for our 40' coach as long as we parked our toad behind the picnic table. It was confusing about which direction to pull into the sites. We followed the lead of the only rig there, as did others after us, and later learned we were all facing the wrong way! The showers are adequate if spartan, although in the women's bath they drain slowly and tend to overflow. The park was almost deserted while we were here; there were never more than ten rigs in the RV section. It is very dusty and dirty, especially when high winds kick up the red soil, so plan to wash your rig and car after camping here. The park has recently added a dump station and there are electrical boxes which seem to indicate plans to add hookups sometime in the future. We camped at The View Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You can drive the park loop in any car, despite some people's claims you need 4WD. We drove it in a low-clearance Ford C-max, just going slowly over the ruts. We also took a nice tour of some off-limits areas with a Navajo guide from Majestic tours, it's the only way to see the arches like Eye of the Sun.

Newly opened (Spring 2014) campground adjacent to The View Hotel within the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Dry camping only. Good WiFi signal next to the onsite office. They have several tables and benches out front for visitors. Bathrooms and showers are spotless. Our site was level and large, all RV sites are pull-thru. Amazing views all around. Best location for Monument Valley. The View Campground features 30 RV sites, 30 tent sites and 30 cabins. Cabins have full restrooms and showers, refrigerator and microwave. We camped at The View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Campsite is a somewhat level piece of land that overlooks the Mittens of Monument Valley. There were several sites that had large ramadas with tables available. Rough road into park that has porta-potties for bathrooms and no hook-ups, showers, or water available. Strictly dry-camping with incredible views. Hotel is just a 1/4 mile away. We camped at The View Campground in a Travel Trailer.
