Park is located in an industrial area but is very convenient to downtown Salt Lake City. It is a short drive or you can choose to use the mass transit which is across the street. The park has quite a few permanent or seasonal residents but most of their sites are well kept. The sites are roomy with grass in between. The pads are concrete and level though our 41 ft mh and toad just fit. There are shade trees on every site which was nice as it was in the 90's while we were there. The hookups were good and we ran 3 AC with no issues. The park was clean although our site had many cigarette butts in it but I blame the people that had the site before us NOT the RV Park. The pool was refreshing. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed 4 nights in July 2018 in a "Deluxe Patio Site". The rate was $81.99/night less 10% KOA Value Kard plus 6.85% sales tax plus 6.05% Tourism Transient Room Tax. Total paid was $295.16 or $83.32 avg per night. Always enjoy the KOA website to make reservations. We took the only site available that could accommodate our size. The small patio and patio furniture was nice, but the term "deluxe" is a stretch. If approaching from West, you can turn left on "1460 WEST". Look for Nico's restaurant on left corner. Check-in was efficient and we were guided to our site. Site was strewn with litter upon arrival including cigarette butts, plastic bottle cap, glass bottle cap, tie wrap, duct tape and misc litter. That was just on our passenger side. Ironically, our fire ring was clean as a whistle. I noticed other trash through out the park. There are trees between sites which provide welcome shade. We couldn't get a satellite signal but I suspect it's hit or miss depending on where you dish is mounted and where your tree happens to be. Utilities conveniently placed and worked well. We had three A/Cs going and power was fine. CG is quiet at night. I could hear a train whistle faintly but not enough to be disturbing. Single stream recycling. Rules are not enforced although it didn't create an issue during our stay. Folks were in the pool/hot tub area well after 10pm. Rules state no pet fences and we saw plenty of them. Trees on interior roads need to be trimmed for taller rigs. The CG is in a dicey area. A half mile down North Temple Street is a druggie/vagrant hang out. Next door to KOA is an abandoned motel with a pool half filled with debris (fenced). We noticed variations of this all over the city including downtown and outside the ballpark. It's totally disgusting. Suggest using common sense - don't go out alone and be aware of your surroundings. If we return to this area (which I hope we never do), we would consider all options first but would stay here again. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The TRAX railway in front of the CG is nice and seemed safe ($5/person for r/t ticket). Visit the State Captiol Building and take a free tour M-F every hour on the hour. Enjoy a Bee's baseball game - family friendly venue with nice view of mountains. If using the Jordan River Trail walking/biking path behind the CG, suggest women not go alone day or night. The trail itself is great.

This campground is in the middle of the worst homeless /vagrant area in SLC. My husband was accosted in a parking lot of a convenience store. Armed security at the closest grocery. Over 50% were permanent campers. Unkempt. Laundry dirty. Poor wifi. Dumpsters overflowing. Some trees, little grass - their watering hoses took up nearly the entire area of grass at each site. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

For a Commercial campground the SLC KOA is remarkably good. The sites are close together but not on top of each other. Most sites are fairly well shaded. It's close to the city center and the SLC mass transit. If you're doing genealogy research the best way to get to the research facility is to drive into town. Parking is about $5.00 a day. The park abutts an industrial section of Salt Lake. It is a short walk to the train to downtown and airport. The tent spaces are next to a road and are extremely noisy at night. Lots of facilities. Nice staff .Terrible coffee in the morning. Good for campers. Not good for tenders. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Tent.

Just an overnight stay for us. Check in was slow due to others trying to check in at the same time and asking many questions. We requested a pull thru that, upon arrival, we saw people from nearby campsites walking their dog in our site and adjoining sites so their dog could take care of its business. Glad it went several sites away before taking care of business. We did not see the owner pick up the waste so beware. The site itself was somewhat level but, to exit with a tow car, it was very tight turns. We did not use any of the facilities so I can not rate them. I will say many kids running around and thru camp sites. If you have kids, this is the place for you. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed overnight on our way west. We were a little leery at first, given the environment we had to drive through to get to this park. It was very industrial. However, the park was very nice with coded entry into the camping area, good green space b/n trailers, level concrete pads, full hook up, and friendly staff. There was a pool area behind the office and a people sized chess board in the park. We enjoyed our stay, felt safe, and would stay here again. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Red Iguana restaurant came highly recommended. We tried to get seats (at both locations) but it was a 45 minute wait around 5 p.m. People in line said we should stay because the food was worth the wait. However, we wanted to eat and get back to our trailer. We went to the Rio Grande Cafe and had a good meal.

As stated by others, this park is very convenient to downtown Salt Lake, located on one of the main thoroughfares. It's a huge park, with many permanent residents. However, sites are kept neat and uncluttered. Our site was a level pull-through asphalt pad with a concrete patio and a picnic table. Grounds are clean, with manicured grass. WiFi worked great. Laundry was very clean. The restroom was clean, but the showers left something to be desired. They are very cramped and long hair all over the tile floor was a turn-off. Sites here don't come cheap, but the park was very busy. Interior roads were in good condition. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

KOA 10% discount for a 10 night stay. Site was pull-thru, asphalt, level, FHU site with 50 amps. The site was shaded and that helped keep the RV cooler. We had good DishTV satellite reception through the trees. We had good Verizon cell and internet reception. We did not use the park WiFi. The park was mostly quiet at night. Train horns could be heard, but were not overly disturbing. This was a good base to visit Salt Lake City and the Family History Library. We would stay here again. This campground is busy so reservations are recommended. Previous reviews complained about interior road conditions but we didn't experience anything like that. Our site was long enough and level that we didn't have to disconnect even though we did. Each site has a picnic table and grass area,no patio or fire pit, although there is a community fire pit for campers to use. Pool and hot tub are quite busy during the heat of the day,but still enjoyable with plenty of seating available. Wifi service for the most part was fast and cable channels were plentiful. Although we are not a KOA fan and the fact that a campground worker made a derogatory comment about us being Canadian,we definitely would return to this park. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for two weeks in June 2018. The staff was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. The campground was clean and landscaping maintained. The only cons were that there were broken tiles in the showers we used and exposed drain openings that could cut or cause other injury; no ADA grab bars in showers which is a violation of Federal law, the roads and RV pads were in poor condition - uneven, low spots, etc. I would venture to say this is due to poor design and maintenance - no excavation and road bed designed to support class A/B RVs - they are just to heavy for the road and sites to handle, need a major rebuild to bring the roads and sites up to 5 star rating. The showers were not adequately cleaned; there was soap scum on the walls and floors - the floors, both in the shower and dressing area, were slippery which could cause a fall, especially dangerous without ADA grab bars. With all this said we will be staying there in the future due to location. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Downtown Salt Lake City has two very nice malls; Gateway just east of the railroad tracks and City Creek in the heart of the city. Temple Square, Church History and Family History centers are worth visiting. I recommend the "Red Iguana" just east of the KOA, best Mexican food; plan on a wait as it is very, very popular. Leatherby's Ice cream across the street from the Red Iguana offers a large variety of ice cream treats. Check out Harmon's Market "White Chocolate Pecan" bread, too die for.
