Stayed at Bridger Bay Campground, one of several on the island. Be careful when selecting a site, as the road through the loop is one way and many of the sites will place the table opposite your door if you pull through in the required direction. We cheated & pulled through backwards to get the view and the table on our trailer's door side. (If you do this plan out not only how you'll pull in, but how you'll pull out if the empty site you used to get in is taken when you try to leave.)

The website for this campground says, "Bridger Bay Beach. Restrooms and showers are available" which is misleading. The restrooms in the campground are vaults, and the showers are a long walk/shortish drive away from the campground much further along the beach. Take quarters if you want a hot shower; otherwise another shower is outside the building and the same temp as the lake. You need one or the other though, to wash off the salt after swimming.

The website also neglects to alert RVers to the desirability to fill up fresh water tanks with good tasting water before coming across the causeway & onto the island, as the only potable water from a spigot is found at the dump site (and it is highly mineralized in flavor).

The water quibble & campsite layout aside, this campground is very dark at night, (great star-viewing), and quiet. The sites are widely spaced apart and due to the hillside, every site potentially looks out over the lake.

Fill your water tank (or jugs of water) before leaving the mainland. Have a plan to deal with the hot sun and total lack of shade. Bring appropriate foot coverings to walk through heavy sand to the water's edge. We camped at Antelope Island State Park - Bridger Bay Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This campground's main asset is: QUIET. No trees, but the picnic tables are shaded with pavilions. Paved all the way through, including the almost-perfectly-level sites. And the price is darned decent for a state park. Rate reflects 2018 First Night rate; 2nd and later nights are $12. Cell signal is adequate for voice but you need a router or "booster" to do Internet. We camped at Antelope Island State Park - Bridger Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

On the island, it's mostly hiking and watching the bison herd that roams free. It's a few miles to town (8? 12?) but but if you go there make sure you get back before they lock the gates at night. I would definitely stay here again.

We actually stayed at White Rock Bay, however, I don't think the campgrounds differ much except for location. While AISP is a wonderful place to visit, I wasn't terribly impressed with the campsites. Dry camping doesn't bother me, nor do vault toilets. I just figured for $5 less you can visit the SP for the day and stay elsewhere. Very windy but beautiful dark skies at night. I will admit, the $15 cost is a bonus. Beautiful park but next time, I'd not camp there. By the way, the showers at the day use area are coin operated. Bridger Bay Campground on Antelope Island is a beautiful primitive lakeside campground, but the bugs will eat you alive. We've stayed twice in our new trailer and the first time were chewed up by gnats and the second time by deer flies. It's too bad because the spots are really tidy with covered picnic tables and separate grill pedestal right next to the fire ring. Most of the spots are pull through and separated pretty nicely. We had a beautiful view of the lake and the sunsets are truly spectacular. During the day there are numerous hikes in the area of interest to historians, archaeologists, geologists, and nature lovers. A particular treat are the bison and pronghorn antelope that are easy to spot. There are very few trees and the view of the night sky is awe inspiring. And all this just minutes from I-15 as it travels north through Utah. I'd really like to go again but I have to figure out how to handle the bugs. This is the first park we stayed at based solely on RVParkReviews recommendations. It was worth it! Sites are huge, views are incredible. It's dry camping, but no problem. We were there the end of June and the breeze was just right to keep everything cool. Didn't need to run a generator. The flies ("brine flies") were in the millions down on the shore, but they stayed there. The bay was smelly (sulfuric) from normal life. No problems up in the camp. It is a long walk down to the shore (lake is lower level than past years). Visitor Center is easy to get in and out of in a big rig, and was interesting even for the kids. The sunset was incredible. I actually got up at 4 AM and went outside just to look at the stars... Not only would I stay here again, I would make this a destination campground from California. Very surprised to see most sites taken by tenters, not RVers. We camped at Antelope Island State Park - Bridger Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

Awesome location. Need to properly time the heat and the bugs. Early spring and later fall are best. Stay on the bay, listen to coyotes at night around the fire and wake up to buffalo out the camper window. Ride your bike to and from the mountain bike trails. Out west prairie style camping seven miles from town. Asphalt paved pull throughs. Primitive, no hook ups. Fifteen dollars for first night, 12 dollars for second night. Things to do: Visitor Center, hiking, mountain biking, road biking, wildlife viewing and ranch visits. Lots of buffalo, antelope and coyotes. Do not let your dog off leash and view the buffalo from a distance, they can be mean and are incredible fast.

Dry camping, beautiful campsites with breathe taking views of the lake on one side and wildlife on the other. In the evening a buffalo wander near our campsite, very near. We saw a coyote too. Since it was Fall there were no bugs. We want to come back. Beautiful fire ring/grill and a covered picnic table on an immaculate concrete slab. We enjoyed this campground. Great place to float in the lake though you have to walk a ways because of the drought. One of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen and it lasted a couple hours. Sites were spacious with covered picnic tables. No hookups available. Price includes entrance to the park. We camped at Antelope Island State Park - Bridger Bay Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I simply cannot say enough good things about this park! First, just getting out to the island over the long causeway is a fun little adventure. The Visitors Center has great information on the history of the island which was settled by the Mormons in the early 1800's. Then there is the abundance of wildlife to be seen - bison, antelope, big horn sheep and more. There are four campgrounds in the park, but Bridger Bay is the most popular one.

The campground features large paved pull through sites with paved patio areas that have a picnic table under a shade canopy. There is also a fire pit at each site. This is primitive camping - vault toilets, no water, no hook-ups, etc. Come with a full fresh water tank and empty holding tanks (there is a dump station near the visitor center but no potable water is available).

In early spring this campground was beautiful, quiet and only about 10% full. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We camped at Antelope Island State Park - Bridger Bay Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Antelope Island is the largest island in Great Salt Lake and can be reach by a 7-mile road across the lake from Syracuse. It's a unique place with very little traffic, lots of views, miles of hiking trails, beach walks, marina, visitor center and historic ranch (a must see for anyone that grew up on a farm). We saw Buffalo and Antelope free roaming over the island and got some great pictures. There are 2 camping areas on the island, both on the north side (Bridger Bay for RVs / Tents) and (White Rock groups camping). Bridger Bay has 26 spacious paved sites with good separation. We visited in October so did not experience the biting gnats that are bad from April-June . We camped at Antelope Island State Park - Bridger Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Amazing to find such natural beauty, tranquility and amazing abundance of wildlife so close to the metropolitan area of Salt Lake City. The park is accessed via a long causeway and there is a small fee (about $2-$3) for using the causeway and entering the park which is added to your first night's camping fee. The campground has extremely spacious sites (many are pull-thrus) which can accommodate any size rig. Each site has a paved parking pad, concrete covered patio, picnic table and fire pit. Most are situated to have wonderful views of the lake. There is no shade other than what is provided by the cover over the picnic table so this campground would be extremely hot in the summer. Be aware that this is a primitive campground with vault toilets and no hook-ups. Water is available only at the day use area, where there are also showers. There is a dump station. We saw tons of wildlife - bison, pronghorn antelope, deer, bighorn sheep, coyotes and even a bobcat! There are great hiking trails for any ability and a visit to the Visitor Center and the historic Fielding Garr Ranch are both well worth the effort. Our only complaints were the smell, which others have commented on but which is a small price to pay for all the natural beauty, and the extremely alkaline water of the showers. We'd love to come back for another stay at this unique park. We camped at Antelope Island State Park - Bridger Bay Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Believe the park's website when it states "the biting gnats have hatched"! We gambled, thinking the ghats would not be so bad, however, they were bad even with head nets on! The island is beautiful and the scenery spectacular. Did not see enough buffalo or deer though. Saw plenty of gnats. The campground is excellent also, had to go down the road for the shower, but nice. Would return, but not in May or June! Price is actually $10/night with some added fees. Each site has a concrete patio with built-in fire pit, and covered picnic table. The park and sites are paved asphalt with no hook-ups and gorgeous lake views. The setting is beautiful with bison and other wildlife roaming and lake access. However, we stayed during the April/May period about which we were warned of "biting gnats." A combination of factors, including the very aggressive (underscored) swarms of biting gnats, weak Verizon signal, corkscrew burrs on our dogs every single outing, and the weather forecast weighed our decision to forfeit our fee for the second night and leave a day early. We would camp again but not early spring. We camped at Antelope Island State Park - Bridger Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

Well this is just a gorgeous spot. Remote, natural, lots of wildlife, birds, hiking trails, water/beach. Excellent visitor center, historic ranch and herds of free-roaming bison. Sites are huge (enormous), paved, flat with gorgeous views of the beach/water and nice paved "sitting areas" with picnic table, shelter and fire-pit. Only big ding? The gnats!!! We were here in late-April and the gnats had just hatched. They are terrible and last until temps top 90. LOVE this spot, but ask about the gnat-situation before you come!! Sites are $10, but there is a $3 one-time fee to enter the island. We camped at Antelope Island State Park - Bridger Bay Campground in a Motorhome.
