We stayed 6 nights here and really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly & helpful. Nice gift shop and they also sold beer. Sites were roomy & some had little grass lawns. Far enough from the highway to be very quiet. There was a heated swimming pool & very clean laundry facilities. Not all the sites had full hookups but there was an RV dump. Propane is not sold here but at another campground in Torrey. They have to be contacted ahead of time to make sure someone is there. A large grassy central area is a great playground. Sept is VERY busy. Make reservations. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I understand that a business that depends on seasonal tourist traffic must make their money when & where possible, but when RV sites are packed together like sardines in a can... that's not appreciated by this traveler. My 'overflow' site was on the back row - a beautiful view of the red cliffs to the north - but the site is a total of 18' wide and the next door neighbor's slides were only 4' away on either side, yes, I measured! Site was gravel, not level front to back nor side to side, no shade, just water and 30A power only. Local Wi-Fi signal was strong, but like most public networks it became virtually useless when overloaded with other users at peak times - fine for simple email, but would not reliably load Google maps. How does one travel without consulting Google maps? And Facebook? How can you share adventures without it? In fact, any graphics intensive web site is nearly inaccessible. So... strong local Wi-Fi signal but extremely poor connectivity to the internet. I did not partake of the offered amenities like the "must see" gift shop or the pool. Nor did I eat in the restaurant, shoot baskets or hit the tetherball. If those things are important to you, then they are offered but I cannot pass judgement.

The obvious attraction to the area is Capitol Reef NP and its stunning geology and rock formations. Do take the time to visit the visitors center east of Torrey. The park is HUGE so plan on enough days to visit at least the major attractions. If you travel the back country roads (high clearance 2-wheel drive is OK unless it has been raining a lot) be sure to take sufficient food and water and other emergency gear with you as the park is remote and services nonexistent off pavement. I saw no more than a dozen other vehicles TOTAL in my two days on the dirt roads.

Personally I would not return to this RV park, but as always, your mileage may vary. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Chuck Wagon is the only 'grocery' in downtown Torrey. Offers the basics. But the Deli (in the back) bakes scratch made chocolate brownies like mom made when I was a kid. To die for! I did not try other things, but I expect the banana bread and other baked goods to be just as delicious.

Nice large facility with amenities such as hair salon, large well stocked gift shop, some groceries, and friendly staff. Hours of 8 to 8 allow late checkins an opportunity to talk with staff if needed. Beautiful views of red cliffs to North are a definite plus. Very happy with our stay here. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was our 2nd visit here. It is convenient to Capitol Reef NP and other area attractions. The sites are gravel, fairly level with a very small grass area and close together. Tall trees which offer some shade. We were here for 4 nights, staff was friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi is free but very spotty. Verizon service is also spotty in the area. Laundry facility is clean. Great views. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty good. Lovely scenery. Get a space near the back for the view. WiFi was ok. Store is useless. Book exchange ok. Very helpful staff.

The morning muffins were poor quality. The food was ok otherwise.

Wonderful gift store. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

The parking to check in is a little confusing: basically park wherever you wish! The sites all have trees. Our row, sites 30-39 and the row behind us, sites 40-49 had grass between each site. There is a very large, lush green grass area around the pool. The tent sites are in this area and were private, well-kept and looked very level.

Behind the park are some beautiful red cliffs that offer unusual photo opportunities. They do not have a specific dog area, although there are plenty of places to walk them. There didn't appear to be too many long-term residents, and all sites were clean.

We had two concerns. The first was the electricity. We arrived around 3 pm and by five the power had dropped off four times. It was so unstable we had to limit ourselves to two of the a/c units, and turn one of them off if we wished to microwave or cook. It caused us to hang around the entire next day rather than visit Capitol Reef because we wanted to be assured our two dogs wouldn't roast if the power dropped off while we were gone. We determined we could turn off all electrical in the coach except for two a/c units and were fairly certain everything would be okay. We did set the Auto Gen Start system just in case.

The second concern was the dinner at the Grill at the RV park. They have a reasonably menu with four seating times. We selected the trout and a hamburger and asked for 6:30 seating. At a little after 6:00 a young man came by our site and told us our meal was ready and waiting. By the time we got there the fish was a little dry and cold. The hamburger was okay. The cornbread was horrible. The side and dessert were served in small "prep bowls." The drink choice was lemonade or water - no ice. After we ate we knew why they charged the gratuity when you ordered, as the food wasn't worth the price.

On the bright side, the young man who came to get us and served our meal was very personable. We'd stay again but would avoid the Grill! We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed five nights. Rented their jeep to explore Capitol Reef Park. Lovely views from park of red cliffs and rolling hills. Great playground and grassy area with games available. Nice little swimming pool. Great shade with old cottonwood trees. Well stocked market, and clever gift store items. Ask for a grassy spot. We just had gravel. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Truck Camper.

I would echo the other reviewer comments about the amenities of the park. My only concern was that one evening my EMS unit twice locked out the shore power due to a severe undervoltage of <104V. I reported it to the office and was told "my husband will look into it." The next day I approached the Assistant Manager and asked if he had any idea what caused the problem. He said he knew nothing about it but would look into it. I expected that someone would have gotten back to me with an explanation or at least to say they looked into it and couldn't find a problem, however no one ever did. Unfortunately not everyone uses an EMS and an undervoltage can do some extensive damage to electrical equipment, particularly the AC units. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Good park that is worth a stop. A few miles out of town which keeps it quiet. Easy in pull thru site which easily held 31 ft 5th wheel with no leveling. Good views of the red rocks. Facilities all very clean Wifi slow during peak times but otherwise ok. No true Vweizon service so no use of data plans(AT&T seems to have the area). Only mark down was two restroom facilities had a total of 3 toilets. Given size of campground, the number of cabins and tent sites this seems too few to me. Would still be back here when possible. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I have no idea where the "Thousand Lakes" comes from, as there's not a lake to be found for miles. Overall, a nice experience. Pretty tight between sites, a picnic bench provided, a nice grassy area, pool and dining hall.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The gift shop was very reasonably priced for all kinds of stuff and had some great local crafts, mugs and clothing. The park is a ways away from Capital Reef, but very quiet and well kept. We enjoyed our two days there. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our stay here and it was a great location for visiting Capitol Reef. We work during the day so most of our time hiking in the park was in the evening so it was nice to be close enough to hop on over there for a hike or two. Verizon data did not work here, but my Verizon talk/text did work. AT&T data worked well so we used that for work. We were fortunate that they gave us one of the nice and large back-in sites; the interior pull-through sites looked a lot smaller. The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars is because they charge extra for children. Hotels don't charge extra for our kids to stay in the room with us, so I don't understand why some RV parks charge extra for kids to stay in our RV. Anyway, if a place charges a "kid-tax" I can't rate them as excellent because that does not seem very family-friendly to me. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Park was full and many tent campers; I could see where there might be a problem with getting into the restrooms as there were only 3 or 4 showers. One laundry room had some machines that did not work and it was inconvenient to move wet laundry over to other side of park. Everything was clean, though, and very well-landscaped. Beautiful setting just outside of Torrey and very convenient to running into town. Shopping at the store at the campground was very nice and they offered homemade muffins each morning. Our experience was mixed. Our site was a reasonably long, wide, and level pull-through. Trees on either side blocked satellite reception. Within minutes of arriving, our RV, selves, and toad were thoroughly sprayed with irrigation water. Upon pointing it out, the staff then throttled the sprayers. Wifi was alternately fast, slow, and unusable, more often than not unusable. The park is very clean and has a fine kids playground and pool. The gift shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. The grill, only open for dinner, has fine sandwiches. This is ATV country, and the park has many customers with ATVs. Most are careful and considerate; some are not. I would think hard before staying here again. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Convenient park to Capitol Reef Nat. Park. Nice sites, park was full up most nights. Showers were clean but can be a long way from some sites. Services in Torrey are very limited. WIFI was slow.
