This campground is conveniently located to all that the Vernal UT area has to offer including Dinosaur National Monument and Flaming Gorge. Someone knew what they were doing when they laid out the campground because you have total privacy and a beautiful view from Every site. We were in a full hook up site on the exterior of the loop and could not see another camper. The camping spaces are asphalt pads and hook up was easy with utilities placed well. Check the campground information about the site length and utilities because there is quite a variance from long pull throughs to shorter back in sites and from full hook ups to electrical only. Some of the sites also have covered picnic tables. The campground is located on the edge of a reservoir that appears to offer decent fishing and boating. While we were there, the water in the reservoir was low because the local farmers rely on the reservoir for irrigation. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
A visit to Dinosaur National Monument is a must. Go through the west entrance of the park to the Quarry Visitor Center. A free shuttle takes you up to the main exhibits. The Fossil Trail hike back down to the lower visitor center was about 2 miles and there were dinosaur fossils to observe. Don't miss the hike near the Red Fleet Reservoir called Dinosaur Tracks. This 2 mile round trip hike takes you to the edge of the reservoir where you can walk along with actual dinosaur footprints.

The Steinaker I stayed at was definitely not a 9 or 10 as some of the reviews say. We had site 18 which was an easy pull thru with some shade. Have to pick your site carefully as they run from full hook ups to no facilities. Some also require backing in up a somewhat steep incline while others appeared they would be hard to level. There is also a drainage dip at one part of the loop which my 30' ft 5th wheel rear hitch dragged on. Loop road is narrow with two way traffic. We met a trailer coming towards us when we were leaving. Fortunately he could pull into a site otherwise one of us would have had fun backing up. Next time while probably stay in Vernal at a private park. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a partial hookup site. The water was right outside the rig, but we were asked not to stay hooked up so others on no hookup sites could use it also. There are many faucets available. Large trees, quiet, beautiful views of the reservoir and lots of wildlife. I have a 40-footer and had plenty of room. Covered picnic table. Paved roads and sites. The camp hosts patrol constantly, keeping everything clean and in order. Lovely place. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.
Swain Brothers restaurant in Vernal was excellent. It's in a hotel and I wouldn't have known to go there but for a recommendation. Vernal has tons of shopping, restaurants, and a Wallmart.

The nightly rate shown does not show the $8 reservation fee that is added for each reservation you make online.
This is a wonderful campground. We got site ST03 which is a full hookup site. Even though it says that the RV cannot be more than 30 feet in length, the loop sites are large enough for a motorhome and a toad. I have a 39 foot motorhome and was able to park the motorhome and the toad could go either in front or behind the motorhome. Some of the sites are back in sites and they would have been too short. There are full hookup sites, electric only sites and sites without any utilities. There are water faucets all over. I called and confirmed that I could fit into the site with the motorhome.
This is a WONDERFUL place. All sites have picnic tables but our site and others have a concrete pad with a full cover for the picnic table. The restrooms are clean. There is lots of room between sites. It is so peaceful and quiet! It is a small campground and all sites were an easy walk to the reservoir. We saw hawks and a lot of rabbits. There were trails along the water. There was a boat ramp and places to fish along the shore.
The park is convenient to Flaming Gorge and Dinosaur National Park.
We came on 40. We drove up 191 and decided we would not like to drive it in the RV, although many do. It is very windy and some areas do not have shoulders.
We would live to come to this park again! We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.
Flaming Gorge is amazing!

After spending tons of time researching places to stay well visiting Dinosaur National Park, and coming up with nothing but "campgrounds" with people living in them etc...I did one last goggle search and came up with Steinaker State Park, little further from the park but SO WORTH IT!! What a hidden gem, many sites with full hook-up, pull throw, views, space between, nice tables with covers, clean bathrooms, no showers. Right on the reservoir, great for boating, fishing...and the views and sunset amazing! Do yourself a big favor and drive on by all those "campgrounds" in town and visit this Great State Park of UT. ATT cell work ok, and able to get DirTv from many sites. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.
There is room for larger rigs on many of the sights. Amazing Sunsets!

We enjoyed this park a great deal for our two nights. The sites are large enough for 42+ foot rigs (though their booking site says otherwise), our site was very private and had a covered picnic table, and it's right on the lake. Overall, it's a great place to spend time. The 50 amp power, water, and sewer all worked great. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Great little state park on the outskirts of Vernal. Very, very quiet and peaceful. The state park website lists this as 30' and under, but there are many sites that are plenty big. Our 43' fifth wheel plus our dually truck fit just fine in the pull-thru site #1 and would have fit in probably half of the other spots as well, including the back-ins.
The water pressure is a little low, but nothing we couldn't deal with. The 50 amp service worked great. Only complaint is that the back of that site is downhill. A lot downhill. So we had to put blocks upon blocks under our rear stabilizer legs. Quite a few of the other sites sit on a hill too, so come prepared with blocks just in case!
Otherwise, we had a great stay. Our kids wanted to stay longer! About a 30 minute drive out to Dinosaur NM from here. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
Don Pedro's Mexican Restaurant just down the road was good! Great margaritas too.

$28 per night was for a level asphalt pad site with full hookups, picnic table, and fire ring. The campground has many large junipers as well as low growing plants separating the generous sites. The campground scenery is beautiful. The park staff was very friendly and helpful. Vernal is the nearest city and it has a surprising amount of stores/restaurants that most everyone would find adequate. AT&T cell service was two bars of 4G. We used our Milliencom jetpack for internet access as it received three bars of 4G LTE. There were six OTA TV stations. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We reserved one of the full hook up sites, and had no problem getting our 36' fifth wheel into the site. Even though the Reserve America site indicated that the length limit was only 30'. Our pull through site was 80' long, although it was curved with the hookups in the middle. My one real criticism of the park is that the water pressure is extremely low. We could only manage about #20 on the water pressure gauge. For a decent shower you may want to fill your water tank and use your on board water pump. I would stay here again. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We love this campground. It's small enough not to have a lot of traffic but big enough for some nice walks. When I tried to make a reservation through the Reserve America site, it only listed the sites as being 30 ft. I swapped emails with a very nice person on staff and was assured our big rig would fit. If you go to this web site it gives a map and specifics for each site. http://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/steinaker/maps/campground Lots to see and do here in dinosaur country. We would stay here again. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

There are a 8 full hookup sites, not all are pull-through, in the upper part of the park CG. There are several power only sites, and the rest are dry camping with CG water supply placed along the road, no hookups. The Camp Host is helpful and friendly. We never did see a ranger the week we were here. Restrooms are clean but there are no showers. Each site does have an aluminum table/benches, some with canopies. There are BBQ's and campfire pits. Not all the pull through sites would accommodate a big rig. The Utah Park Dept had a paving project underway in the boat ramp parking lot and it was noisy and smelly for two days. Make a reservation on line and it costs another $10. The level of the lake is very low. This was a pleasant spot to spend a few days and close enough to Dinosaur National Monument. Good access to services in Vernal. The CG map shows only 31 sites available. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for 4 nights in a pull-through site. It had a hard cover over the picnic table which was not true for all the sites. There was no view of the lake but the campground was fairly quiet and nice to walk around. There was constant traffic in the evenings with people bringing in boats to ride around the not very large lake. It got busier and noisier on the the weekend. There are no showers which is a downside for campers that are not self contained. We would stay there again. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nice for a state park, paved roads. Nice lake. No showers. Many small lizards. We seem to always get next to some guys that have to party all night with a campfire that blows into our camper. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of the few extra-ordinary places to be. This State Park is easy to find, but before you know you are driven to far and after a lot of miles you can return (our RV is 32'). They have only 7 sites with full hook-up and 6 of them were reserved. We did not know that reservation was possible and were very lucky with a beautiful site almost on top of a small hill. The pull-thru place offered a beautiful outlook on three sides on the lake. If you want to swim or go on the water with a boat or so, ask for a place on the lake side on the lower part of the camping ground. We enjoyed the sunset and sunrise with a splendid half covered sky; like an natural artwork! We can recommend this place to anyone. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.
