Nice campground. Look like they recently added the 50 amp service. The road and pull through are asphalt. Easily navigated by big rigs. Not many pull though site for Big rigs tho. Sites are close together, and would be crowed if full. Our site had electric but no water. There is a dump station on the way out. Dog friendly and there are nice walking paths through out camp ground. The Reservoir is way down as they are working on the wall. Going by the parking spaces poplar place to put a boat in when Reservoir is full. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This is an older park 7 miles from highway 40. It is pretty dated, but well maintained. The park is VERY quiet at night. Because the lake is very low (dam repairs), the park was fairly empty. The sites are a little difficult with respects to level. Our site was somewhat hill and required several extra blocks on the rear stabilizers. The best sites were electric only. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely, spacious, pull-through campsite on asphalt pad with covered patio and full hookups. Great value for $28/night. The DNR staff at the front desk were very helpful and knew the area well. Unfortunately, Steinaker Lake is drained for at least a year while they do dam repairs. Our only complaint was that the nearby pit toilet was full of flies--conveniently located but I absolutely could not use it. That being said, the main bathroom was just around the corner. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful park if you can get the right site for your rig. We have a 39 foot class A and sites 1 and 2 work really well. Some other sites may work but these two are a definite. The camp host was great. It is a beautiful area. The site has a concrete slab with a cover and a picnic table. The site is asphalt. Because the reservoir was so low, there was hardly anyone around. There is one set of bathrooms that are nice but the pit toilets are just terrible with flies everywhere. There are no showers. Verizon worked but it was marginal. We went into town (Vernal) to the Starbucks to use the wifi. There was a huge rain storm while we were there and they worked very hard to clean up roads and some sites that had issues - we were fine. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We visited Dinosaur National Monument. Both sides of the monument are well worth seeing. We went to Flaming Gorge and rented a raft to go down the Green River. Lots of fun!

Overall Rating:

This park is on an irrigation reservoir and has a variety of site types and sizes, so research carefully and use Google Earth. Elevation varies across the park, so some sites are up high and others are in a hollow. Sites 1-8 or 9 were the only full hook-ups when we stayed. All the sites and interior roads are paved with concrete patio pads and picnic tables. Sites are either back-in or the semi-circle style of pull-thru, and large rocks and tough bushes are strategically placed to jump out at your rig while parking if not careful; use a spotter. Some tree branches over roads really needed trimming when we were there. Our pull-thru was long enough for our large motorhome and toad, and surprisingly level in the middle just where we needed to park. We did have to wait several hours after check-in to set up, as hosts didn't want to bother the prior occupants who were locals in no hurry to vacate. We were high enough to get good DirecTV and OTA coverage, but just too far away from civilization to get a decent VZW signal (it worked at the boat launch). Flies were an issue throughout the park, and especially near the pit toilets and fish cleaning station by the boat launch. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a great place to stay. Very Quiet and clean. Fairly easy to navigate. Had a slight problem with some tree limbs but the Camp Host took care of the problem very quickly. Pull through was easy in and out. No problems navigating the interior roads. Will return if ever in this area. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Electric hookups only. Water is available but is shared so you can't stay hooked up to it. Dump station available. No wifi. No Verizon cell service. It was a very warm few days there and very few of the sites have any shade at all. Many picnic tables have patio covers but the bugs were pretty bad so we didn't try to brave the heat. The lake is nice with a boat ramp and beach. It is used by many powerboats. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This state park is in a convenient location, only about 5 miles from town, and a half-hour drive from Dinosaur National Monument or Flaming Gorge. The campground is very small, and looks a bit old and tired compared to many other state park campgrounds we've stayed in. Our site was pretty large with plenty of privacy which was nice. There are 7 or so full hookup sites which is a nice surprise for a state park, and they're reasonably priced. Unfortunately most of them are on a steep hill so most of those sites are not level. Our 37' motorhome and tow car had no problem fitting in our pull-through site, but we had to drive our back tires up onto about 5 inches of stacked boards for leveling. The rest of the sites are electric-only or no hookups, and we did hear a few generators running from rigs in the no hookup sites. There's a vault toilet near site #8 which was pretty stinky. AT&T and Verizon were almost unusable until we put up our booster... then they were decent but definitely not fast. The state park was pretty quiet during the week but during the weekend it was packed with boaters, jet skiers, paddle boarders, and others having fun out on the lake. We found a nice secluded beach near the campground where our dog loved going in for a swim every day, but otherwise there's not much in the way of trails for longer hikes out of the campground. When exiting the campground we ran into some major low-hanging branches near site 28. We had high winds every day, so we could never use our awning for shade. Not sure if this was unusual or normal for the area. The gate to the state park closes at 10pm but we never had reason to be out that late. Overall this is a nice scenic campground, but site selection should be done carefully depending on your rig size, and you should have a cell booster if you want connectivity. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We had a 4 night stay here, 2 spots. First one, 7 had a view of the lake out of our front window. Spot 3 did not. 7 no shelter, 3 did. It was a decent park, camp hosts were active and helpful. The tables were aluminum, there was a fire pit. It was just dusty with a fine sand it seemed. The sights are private, especially the pull through side ones, with plenty of room. There was a little path to get to the lake and a boat ramp right on the other side of the CG. Our only problem were he trees, especially by site #1, which scratched the heck out if our RV. We told the hosts and they said they would tell the CG to get them trimmed. We had satellite and weak Verizon signal We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Small state park with several nice spots for larger RVs although the road is narrow with a couple of tight turns. Reservoir is nice for those who want to swim, fish or boat. Lots of places to walk. Some sites have full hookups, others just water and electric. We stayed 4 nights to explore the area. Would stay again. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for six nights and thought this was the best campground during our three week trip. Our site was spacious and level, the scenery was beautiful, and the staff very helpful and friendly. There is lots of great dog walking places as well. We would very definitely stay here again. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is conveniently located to all that the Vernal UT area has to offer including Dinosaur National Monument and Flaming Gorge. Someone knew what they were doing when they laid out the campground because you have total privacy and a beautiful view from Every site. We were in a full hook up site on the exterior of the loop and could not see another camper. The camping spaces are asphalt pads and hook up was easy with utilities placed well. Check the campground information about the site length and utilities because there is quite a variance from long pull throughs to shorter back in sites and from full hook ups to electrical only. Some of the sites also have covered picnic tables. The campground is located on the edge of a reservoir that appears to offer decent fishing and boating. While we were there, the water in the reservoir was low because the local farmers rely on the reservoir for irrigation. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

A visit to Dinosaur National Monument is a must. Go through the west entrance of the park to the Quarry Visitor Center. A free shuttle takes you up to the main exhibits. The Fossil Trail hike back down to the lower visitor center was about 2 miles and there were dinosaur fossils to observe. Don't miss the hike near the Red Fleet Reservoir called Dinosaur Tracks. This 2 mile round trip hike takes you to the edge of the reservoir where you can walk along with actual dinosaur footprints.

We had a partial hookup site. The water was right outside the rig, but we were asked not to stay hooked up so others on no hookup sites could use it also. There are many faucets available. Large trees, quiet, beautiful views of the reservoir and lots of wildlife. I have a 40-footer and had plenty of room. Covered picnic table. Paved roads and sites. The camp hosts patrol constantly, keeping everything clean and in order. Lovely place. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The Steinaker I stayed at was definitely not a 9 or 10 as some of the reviews say. We had site 18 which was an easy pull thru with some shade. Have to pick your site carefully as they run from full hook ups to no facilities. Some also require backing in up a somewhat steep incline while others appeared they would be hard to level. There is also a drainage dip at one part of the loop which my 30' ft 5th wheel rear hitch dragged on. Loop road is narrow with two way traffic. We met a trailer coming towards us when we were leaving. Fortunately he could pull into a site otherwise one of us would have had fun backing up. Next time while probably stay in Vernal at a private park. We camped at Steinaker State Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
