Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here four nights on our way back from Acadia National Park in Maine. It was the 4th of July weekend so lots of locals were there. Nothing very special about this place but it was ok for what we needed. There is a creek that runs next to the park and it is beautiful.

The major negative is the internet. They have about 6 different "sites" to connect to but it was hit or miss, mostly miss, with all of them. Forget getting internet from your camper. They claim it is an older system that they will be replacing. The internet even right next to the pool or office many times did not work.

We are told they are new owners since March 2016. They are nice but very laid back...almost too much. Never really saw them.

They did have a live country band Saturday night and they were great. A train does come through in the evening so just a little warning. One night it came passing through at 4:00 AM.

I would stay here again if we were passing by but wouldn't go out of my way to stay here. It was recommended to us by an RV blog to stay here. I think there are better places. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first visit here. We were nervous open the openness and lack of trees but as it turned out it was not an issue, we had just enough shade when we needed it. There are new owners here that bought just before the season started. They were super nice and very friendly. They took good care of us and our guests which we really appreciated. Our son lives down the street and he was able to visit and the visitor policy/fee is extremely fair. Our site was along the river and was a great size. Plenty of room for anything we wanted to do. Maybe it was out location but the wifi was tough. Sometimes it was fine, sometimes it was real slow and other times it was not available. It is nice that it is offered so we made it work for us. We enjoyed a local restaurant in the area, The Lions Den for a Fathers Day Brunch. All in all it was a great trip. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This was my first time camping at Able Mountain. Very clean campground and friendly staff. We went down for the annual pig roast - even though it poured the whole time...it was great! I was nervous that they would run out of pig, but this staff proved that this wasn't their first pig roast. Very well organized and had plenty to eat!! Smaller campground with nice pool and clean restrooms. Bingo was fun and people staying here are very friendly. Only downfall is they allow people to book 2 years in advance and there are a lot of seasonal lots, so it gets booked very quickly. Otherwise, I would stay here again. We have camped here numerous times. The most recent time in July. This is the campground that we compare all other campgrounds to. It is topnotch. The owners are wonderful and helpful. We always stay at a site on the river. Sites are spacious, level and well groomed. They are very dog friendly. The dogs are allowed in the river and on the hiking trails that are also a part of the campground. Wifi and cell service are a little spotty but, if you are like us, we go camping to disconnect from those things. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

First, the rating is based upon the riverfront sites. They are HUGE! 40-50' wide and very deep. Owners/hosts are the best. Ordered wood, delivered to site and stacked. Price, very fair. Even though Braintree is so small it shouldn't qualify as a town. But Randolph is nearby with a very good grocery store. Near State Capital, Burlington and Quechee gorge, all must sees. From the looks of them the off river sites they seem to be !bout as nice. Lot of seasonals, especially, so if you want to stay here next year, make Rez as soon as they will take them. We will definitely stay here again We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Motorhome.

Love the river! Super clean and lots of fun. This place was devastated by hurricane Irene but the owners persevered and rebuilt. Super helpful and friendly staff. Fun, easy, clean, and friendly place. We will be back. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Abel Mountain Campground is a well taken care of, open campground with a clean pool and a somewhat sparse kids play area. Across the river is a hiking trail system that was enjoyable and clearly marked. The creek sites back up close to the river creating a nice atmosphere. Camp store is limited, but the town of Randolph is a couple of miles away. If you have a big rig, this is a good choice. If you want a more private wooded site, perhaps a differing campground would be a better alternative. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We had a great weekend staying here for the first time. We had a river site (#14) and camped here with our 2 year old granddaughter. It was an excellent weekend for weather and we enjoyed the pool and walking down by the river. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The place is newly opened after being wiped out by flooding a few years ago. Our site was grassy and level. Our satellite television got reception and the Internet access had a strong signal. The playgrounds were older but they are supposed to be getting in new playground equipment in a few weeks. We plan to come back again. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Motorhome.

Quintessential Vermont meadowland bordered by a branch of the White River with hillsides crisscrossed by hiking trails beyond. Largest grassy areas we've seen. Well-kept dirt roads and sparkling clean facilities. Very good water pressure, excellent Wi-Fi, easy utility connections. Super friendly owners. Idyllic location. This campground was flooded out by Irene a year ago. They have brand new bathrooms, pool that is 30'x60' has a new liner, they have a new open pavilion as well. We had 50 amp/water/sewer/Wi-Fi/cable TV. Half the sites are seasonal and a number are month to month. Sites are really nice and large. Big rig friendly. Husband and wife owners live in a large travel trailer behind the office. They are both very friendly. Activities for kids and adults. Each year everyone has to move out of their site, and if they want can store their RV up on a hill area. Owners say this cuts down on a lot of clutter seasonals build up. Definitely a nice campground that we would return to. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderful campground with river front sites. Great for families. Grassy sites with ample room and our fireplace overlooked the river. Many of the sites have the White River flowing directly behind the site, and the campground allows tubing down the river. Would have given a 10, but the office only sold Ice and fire wood. Will definitely camp here again and would recommend to anybody looking for a quiet campground in a central location, that is great for families.
