Set in a valley, surrounded by trees, this is as someone described it, "a Gem". Staff are friendly, fast, professional. Very clean, neat grassy sites; wide with full hook-ups, and plenty of room for tow vehicle. Only issue were the roads; dirt and while well packed so little to no dust, they are rutted and bumpy; not terrible, just enough to make you go really slow. Then it occurred to me; keeping that way sure keeps your speed down in the park. Smart if intended. We'd stay here again without a moments thought. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We returned here since our son lives within 5 minutes of the park. We had a site on the river which was nice. The sites along the river are plenty wide enough. The one negative is with some rain, the grass was wet and are feet got wet but probably better than getting mud everywhere. The owners were very nice and they have a very nice visitor policy. If your visitors are just coming to your site then there is no charge, only visitors that plan on using the pool and other facilities need to pay and they use the honor system to collect the fees. Not too much to do in the area but we did go out to breakfast with our son and took a ride up to Ben and Jerry's. this was a very quiet Campground, night and day, never heard any noise of any kind other than the train. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice and quiet park with beautiful river along the back of the campground. The staff was very helpful about things to see and do. Quite a few seasonal sites but they were well kept. Only issue was no cell service but they provided WiFi codes for 3 devices free. You could add more for a fee. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in a 43 foot motor home with slides. We had ample room for our motor home, slides and tow vehicle. Our stay was very peaceful and pleasant. The area was green and beautiful with trees and a creek that ran behind our motor home. The owners were awesome. They were gracious enough to let us check in two days early, even before they were totally open for the season. They were accommodating and met all our needs. We were there over mother's day weekend and they came go each campsite and had children deliver a carnation to all the mothers. They had a mother's day breakfast planned but, due to the rain and storm they had to cancel the festivities. We would stay here again for short or long term visit. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

A nice, isolated, quiet campround along the 3rd branch of the White River. Single lane gravel access roads (some are grass) with an interesting descending curve coming in. Mix of grass and gravel sites (mostly grass) some in an open field, others in a lightly wooded area.

Power was mostly ok (did have one low voltage on Leg 1 during our stay). Water (40psi) and sewer ok. Wifi reasonable signal strength and speed. Verizon cell pretty much non-existent (voice and data) although sometimes a voice call would work. TMobile had good signal strength and speed. Minimal road bike riding in immediate area. Single stream recycling on site.

We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This was a very small town but they had a nice restaurant on Main Street called the Tap Room and Grill where we had a nice dinner and then came back the next night for open mic. We went into Mount Pellier, which was an awesome city

We stayed here four nights on our way back from Acadia National Park in Maine. It was the 4th of July weekend so lots of locals were there. Nothing very special about this place but it was ok for what we needed. There is a creek that runs next to the park and it is beautiful.

The major negative is the internet. They have about 6 different "sites" to connect to but it was hit or miss, mostly miss, with all of them. Forget getting internet from your camper. They claim it is an older system that they will be replacing. The internet even right next to the pool or office many times did not work.

We are told they are new owners since March 2016. They are nice but very laid back...almost too much. Never really saw them.

They did have a live country band Saturday night and they were great. A train does come through in the evening so just a little warning. One night it came passing through at 4:00 AM.

I would stay here again if we were passing by but wouldn't go out of my way to stay here. It was recommended to us by an RV blog to stay here. I think there are better places. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first visit here. We were nervous open the openness and lack of trees but as it turned out it was not an issue, we had just enough shade when we needed it. There are new owners here that bought just before the season started. They were super nice and very friendly. They took good care of us and our guests which we really appreciated. Our son lives down the street and he was able to visit and the visitor policy/fee is extremely fair. Our site was along the river and was a great size. Plenty of room for anything we wanted to do. Maybe it was out location but the wifi was tough. Sometimes it was fine, sometimes it was real slow and other times it was not available. It is nice that it is offered so we made it work for us. We enjoyed a local restaurant in the area, The Lions Den for a Fathers Day Brunch. All in all it was a great trip. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This was my first time camping at Able Mountain. Very clean campground and friendly staff. We went down for the annual pig roast - even though it poured the whole time...it was great! I was nervous that they would run out of pig, but this staff proved that this wasn't their first pig roast. Very well organized and had plenty to eat!! Smaller campground with nice pool and clean restrooms. Bingo was fun and people staying here are very friendly. Only downfall is they allow people to book 2 years in advance and there are a lot of seasonal lots, so it gets booked very quickly. Otherwise, I would stay here again. We have camped here numerous times. The most recent time in July. This is the campground that we compare all other campgrounds to. It is topnotch. The owners are wonderful and helpful. We always stay at a site on the river. Sites are spacious, level and well groomed. They are very dog friendly. The dogs are allowed in the river and on the hiking trails that are also a part of the campground. Wifi and cell service are a little spotty but, if you are like us, we go camping to disconnect from those things. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

First, the rating is based upon the riverfront sites. They are HUGE! 40-50' wide and very deep. Owners/hosts are the best. Ordered wood, delivered to site and stacked. Price, very fair. Even though Braintree is so small it shouldn't qualify as a town. But Randolph is nearby with a very good grocery store. Near State Capital, Burlington and Quechee gorge, all must sees. From the looks of them the off river sites they seem to be !bout as nice. Lot of seasonals, especially, so if you want to stay here next year, make Rez as soon as they will take them. We will definitely stay here again We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Motorhome.
