This is a beautiful park. The owner maintains the grounds constantly and it shows. That being said this is an adult park and mostly seasonal people who are retired as the website clearly states. For the most part they were all friendly and wonderful but others complained about us for things we had nothing to do with and were caused by other seasonal campers. The owner was nice and took control of the situation, but in thirty years of camping this is first time anyone has complained about us to the park staff. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Every type of shopping was close by as well as multiple state parks that were outstanding. The ferry is minutes away and there is a local winery down the road.

Our new, #1, favorite campground! We stayed twice in the 2015 season, and each time it was a joy. Campground is all grass; you can walk barefoot anywhere. Sites are spacious. On shore of Lake Champlain with a swimming area. West-facing stone pier perfect for viewing sunsets over lake and Adirondacks. In an apple orchard, meticulous landscaping flower beds. Owner engagingly friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a resort campground, this is not it. CAC is a lovely, pastoral campground where you can relax, read, bike, kayak, swim, watch the ferries without distraction. We'll return next season, more than once. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Biking on the country roads is great - few cars, lots of scenery. Take the scenic Bike Ferry to go from South Hero to Burlington, about 14 miles along the water.

Great campground right on the lake. Can watch the ferry traffic to NY from the shore. Nice, very large grass sites. Good utilities and quiet. Mostly seasonal, but friendly to others. Owner was fantastic and very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Motorhome.

I loved this place! So quiet. There is no rec hall, store or WiFi. We had a waterfront site (#8). Very pet friendly. It seemed like most everyone there had dogs. Everyone was excellent about cleaning up after their pets. Park was very clean with beautiful green grass everywhere. There are fruit and cedar trees. There were lilies and morning glory flowers. Getting to the water could be tough for some people. Lake Champlain is naturally rocky with rocky, slippery shores. They did a good job of placing flat boulders down to step on to get to the dock where there is a ladder to climb into and out of the water. Owners were very pleasant. This place is a gem. A beautiful setting, meticulously landscaped with beautiful trees and flowers – not a speck of litter anywhere. We were in Site 4 for 5 days which had a beautiful view of Lake Champlain. Electricity, sewer and water worked well and were located appropriately at our site. We loved walking our dog through the orchards and along the banks of the lake – a very peaceful and serene setting. As mentioned previously, there are lots of dogs accompanied by responsible owners. There isn’t any wi-fi or cable (quite refreshing actually!). No store or ice on the premises, but available at a general store a few miles away. The bathhouse is antiquated with metered showers which were clean, but not well lit. I only saw one washer and dryer. No credit cards accepted, cash or a check. There are lots of very friendly and helpful seasonals, many from Quebec. A great location for day trips into Quebec, or a bit south to Burlington and environs. It’s a lovely area. This was a nice quiet campground along Lake Champlain. The sites were grass (no mats allowed) and fairly level. The campground is very clean and well maintained. Although the campground is along the water, getting into the water is quite difficult due to the ledge on the banks as there is no beach or sandy shore. The hookups on our site were way in the back and needed an extension on the sewer hose. The campground is close to the ferry to NY and 1.5 hours from Montreal (great for a day trip). The reason we scored this campground 8 out of 10 is because of the swimming situation and lack of Wi-Fi. We would return to this campground if we were to visit the area in the future. This is a very well maintained and landscaped campground. Geography at the campground is lightly wooded and level. Roads are gravel, sites are level and large. Most of the transient sites which included ours looked easy to get into. Our site hookups were in good working order. As mentioned on a previous review most of the lake front sites are occupied by seasonals but they do have a beautiful landscaped rock pier that over looks the lake for everyone's enjoyment. One issue was the bathrooms and showers, they were clean but there was no soap dispensers and nothing to dry your hands with. Also, they have a shared changing area for the shower stalls. Very dog friendly campground. Seasonals sites well maintained. Just a great place to relax and enjoy viewing the lake. Owner was professional, friendly and informative and will go out of his way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Don’t forget to stop up the road at McKee’s island pub & pizza, great food and beer. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Adirondacks, dressed in blue, Lake Champlain, a lighter hue. Sailboats turn to catch the breeze, my vantage point, framed by the trees. Ferries passing on the lake, a hundred times before daybreak. The seagulls cry, the loons dive deep, I close my eyes, and soon I sleep. To dream the dream of yesteryear, bygone days, I've found them here. Hypnotic trance, perhaps it's true, I'll stay awhile, I love the view. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Motorhome.

Awesome location on the shores of Lake Champlain. Gorgeous sunsets. The campground is beautifully maintained and very quiet. The sites are grass-covered (no mats allowed), spacious, and most have views of the lake. Some seasonals, but they keep their sites clean and very neat. The owners are very friendly and extremely helpful. Highly recommend this campground. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Motorhome.

This is one of the nicest campgrounds we've visited over the past several years. There are many seasonal residents but everyone is so friendly and welcoming. While the sites are large and most can accommodate larger rigs, we were tucked into site #17. Overlooking Lake Champlain, it is still a very private site with trees on three sides. Despite being without cable (antenna TV was good) and Internet (which will be coming), there are no downsides to this campground. Moreover, the owner is always around and more than willing to help in any way he can. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here a week. The campground was spotless. The owner was present and actively worked to keep things running smooth. There were lots of seasonal campers and all were very friendly. We had a good view of the lake and the ferry. We would certainly stay here again. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed her for five nights. Campground caters to adults, and most guests seemed to be retirees. Sites are spacious and level, and access is easy. The sites are on grass, so there is little dirt and gravel to track indoors, but there are grass clippings to deal with when the grass is mowed. Outdoor carpets are not allowed so as not to harm the grass. Our site had an amazing view of Lake Champlain. Staff escorts you to your site to ensure that you get maneuvered in OK, and both they are exceptionally friendly and helpful, although they are always so busy it was sometimes hard to find them around. No Internet or CATV, although we managed to receive a few English speaking stations with our antenna and a few more in French. They charge extra if you plan to use your AC (we didn't need it), and they ask that you don't use electric heaters, reasonable requests given the high cost of electricity, I suppose. The campground is like a small community of friendly mature adults; on the Saturday night we were there we were invited to bring a dish to share to a potluck dinner, even though we weren't well known to the regulars. And a large group usually headed down to watch the sunset together on the lake's edge most evenings. There is a small beach area (stone, not sand) with a pier for swimming or launching a canoe or kayak. The campground is within a two hour drive to Montreal (maybe less if you can make it through the border crossing quickly and there's not much traffic). If we were to return to this area of Vermont we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Although the name is Champlain Adult Campground, we saw no indication that they refuse families with children. About half of the sites are seasonals, mostly older adults. Many seasonals come just for weekends, and they seem to know each other well. Sites are well separated, about 30 feet. Laundry has one washer and one dryer; there is a good laundromat in town. There is a place for recycling. Lovely campground, level grass sites, quiet and peaceful. Owner is friendly, good humored, and helpful. We would come here again. No credit cards. Almost all the lake front sites are taken by seasonals. The first site they gave us did not have enough voltage to run our AC. We moved to another site and could run it, but not at the same time as the water heater and/or the microwave. Sites are very unlevel. This was not an inexpensive place to stay and they charge for showers, which they do not say on their website. We had a full hookup, but the sewer connection was located so far to the front that we could not use it. The ferry is one half mile down the road and runs all day and all night: charming, but noisy.
