This is a great state park as long as you can be happy without hookups. There are several spots that work for large RVs in the open camping on the west. East side campground road is narrow and treed but great for smaller RVs/tents. Site 21 is creekside and very private and has been voted best campsite in VT. Clean beach for swimming, great hiking trails close by. Staff was excellent and helpful. Cell service was sketchy. - viadelmangos

This is a very nice state park located on Lake Dunmore. The campground is divided into two camping areas, separated by a road. We stayed in the open, grassy, area by the lake. The other camping area is heavily wooded. Both areas have restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers ($). While I don't like having to lug quarters with me to the shower house, at least the water was hot, and the restrooms were Very clean. However, there was no hot water facet in the sink, which I found odd, and a bit inconvenient if you just want to wash your hands or face. There was only one shower in the bath house where we were. For 17 sites I can imagine it would get busy in the summer. As it was, we were one of only two campers there for two days of our stay, so it was not an issue for us, and on the third day we did not attempt to use the showers as we were heading home. The showers were not handicapped accessible, though there was a small bench in the dressing area (none in the shower itself), which was difficult, as I have severe arthritis. But I managed. If it were not for these small issues I would have given the park a definite 10 as it is very pretty, and the rangers are very nice and helpful. Plenty of area to walk the dog, and though dogs are not allowed on the swimming beach, they are allowed to swim by the boat launch area, which made our dog very happy. The camping area by the lake is very park like with beautiful maple tress and plenty of shade. I would definitely stay here again. - nativemainer
Sep 2015 - $45.00
I found this campground a quiet gem. It is a CG on one side of the street and the marina across the street on lake dunmore. The CG has electric and water at the sites. The driveway has gravel but grass all around. The sites up front are level but in the back of the. CG where seasonals are it is hilly. There is a nice babbling brook on site also. The CG is clean and well maintained. Everyone was friendly, from registration to the girl at the small camp store. There is a beach and marina where you can rent motorized boats, canoes and paddle boards. The lake is lovely and clean...even though we caught no fish! There is a pub style restaurant right on the water . I would definitely return here. - Winnebago Wanderers
Aug 2009 - $30.00
We have camped here a couple of times this year. This campground draws my family back often it seems. We have friends that have a seasonal there that love it lots. They are trying to talk us into a seasonal here. My wife and I have talked about it and thought we just might. This last stay this year we were going to talk to the part owner until we found out about the bugs. That entire area including kampersville is horrible with bugs. So we now will be staying a month early in the season when they're not around. They try and spray twice a week it helps a little. This campground is very nice. They have a beach with water toys for the kids and sandy area for them to play in or lay in your chairs. Boat rentals and dock space is also available. Our site that we have stayed at every time we go is perfect. We have a river behind us and the lake in front of us. Our site is BIG with plenty of room to roam. I backed our fifth wheel into the space and it was perfectly level without any blocking. The staff is very pleasant and eager to help in any way. The bathrooms/showers are nice as some of the buildings are brand new. We can't wait to go back next year and enjoy another stay. - HappyCampers5
Jun 2008 - $32.00
Park has nice sites, some open, some shaded, we were right by the river, other campers not to close, had privacy. Clean bathrooms, showers available. Nice miniature golf course. Walk across road to large store everything you need, as well as rec room with pool table, TV area, wireless computer hook up, lounge area, inside and on deck. Nice beach on Lake, with plenty of grass area for cookout. Rented boats available, large water trampoline for kids. animals aloud. Quiet, clean , would visit again. Dump Station. Nice owners friendly, A++ - Bairdred
Oct 2016 - $32.00
Lovely park very private.
Great general store
Great Lake and beach owned by campground. You can rent a boat too.
Large spaces for rv buses and large rigs
Very winding road drive to get here. - Paige Taylor
Aug 2016 - $51.00
Had to move from a nearby CG due to insufficient voltage (Green Mountain Family Campground). Found this on advice from fellow camper. They had a FHU pull thru available. Would stay again. - Retired Lt
Jul 2016 - $25.00
Busy place on weekends. Full of tents and happy families. 2 pools and lake shore swimming very nice. Shady sites OK to maneuver into with out 25ft Class C. Park hosted a dance both nights. All ages in together. One neighbor started getting loud and rowdy, but only for a short while. All quiet all over on time and folks were generally quiet in the mornings too. I would go back for sure. Big storm blew over power pole, no elec for a few hours, even the store had no power but all got along and it was a good stay. - cherish
Mar 2009 - $30.00
The park has new owners, and wow what a difference it has made! I camped here twice in 2008 and the campground was immaculate, and the owners were very helpful and courteous. They made me feel very welcome, even suggested areas to visit and had menus of local restaurants to look at. There is a new store and office that has loads of stuff and the pool area is very well equipped with furniture and tables. The campground had many campers both times I visited, but I still felt like I was camping in Vermont with beautiful trees and large grassy areas. The owners were diligently cleaning the bath house every morning and every night. I highly recommend the Campground!! - DGSteve
Jun 2007 - $23.00
Only campground we ever went to, where they had no provision for our trash (told us to take it with us)! You could pay $4 a bag to have your trash taken. They also told us not to pick up our dog waste (we did anyway). Bathrooms dirty. If you stay one night you pay extra to dump. No chairs by the pool. No recreation facilities. Everything was for the convenience of the owners. We have NEVER felt so unwelcome. We were only one of 4 campers at the campground and we quickly found out why it was so empty. Large grassy sites, though. They do keep it mowed. Its a passion of the owner, he mows all day! That's all he does. I don't think they ever clean the bathrooms. Extra for A/C. - pyrlover
May 2017 - $40.00
Bad: pricey, freeway noise, coin-operated showers, allowed us in before season officially started Good: strong cell signal Owner is building a lot of new sites designed for longer rigs -- gravel sites and dirt roads. Current sites are a mixture of grassy sites and gravel sites. Allowed us to park and use electrical before season opened officially Adjacent to US 7, could hear traffic very clearly. Strong Verizon (4 bars, 4G) Coin-operated hot water for showers Many permanent trailers occupied seasonally - OlderGoat
Jul 2016 - $35.00
We needed a cg near Burlington as we were going to a rally and this fit our needs. Big rigs are an easy fit. We are a 36' MH plus toad. Delightful cg. rv owners, actual rvers, new owners(2nd year). We were greeted warmly at the office, paid and then led to our site. We were as far from the office as we could be and the wifi was very solid. Only 30a service but they are planning to upgrade to 50a. Would come back here again. - Wandering
Aug 2015 - $40.00
We stayed at this park for 6 nights. Wonderful people! Though close to Hwy 7, it was very quiet, lots of trees between us and the road. The owner is new as of August 2014. He has put a lot into fixing it up and plans to continue the upgrades. My only criticism is the wifi, thet do have it, but currently you have to be within 30-40 yds of the office...none of the sites are that close. Owner is trying to correct that with his vendor. Will stay here again for sure.41. - kltfaught
Aug 2016 - $40.00
Published on-line rates are $30 less a 10% discount if senior, police/fire. And a one night reservation fee. He charged us $80 upfront for two nights and it should have been $54 for the two nights we were there. Upon arrival the sites were sideways up a mountain side and very un level. Then the electric service was 108 volts with a ground fault issue. Told us he would fix the over billing issue but did not. Would not return our multiple phone calls to the CG or his cell phone. Had to leave and find another CG so we did not damage our electronics or appliances...
Told us to dump our grey water on the ground. Saw others (long term campers) with sewer hoses running out into the woods....can only guess what they were dumping....... - Retired Lt
Sep 2015 - $42.00
If you're and nature lover and looking for piece of God's country this is it! The river is beautiful, we watched osprey and eagles, herons and ducks, fly fishing, tubing, kayaking all right from our campsite.
Sites are right on the river, large, level, grassy and well maintained with water and electric. The grounds are beautifully landscaped.
The owners are welcoming, helpful and care that all campers are respectful of their neighbors and enjoy their peace and quiet.
Visitors are welcome, but if your looking to have a party this isn't that kind of place and that's what I loved about it, quiet and friendly.
Lots of places to visit and things to see, wonderful place to call home while you enjoy day trips. - cddebbie
Oct 2013 - $40.00
A beautiful setting with a lot of potential to be an outstanding campground. The road into and around the campground has numerous potholes and needs maintenance as did the restrooms, showers and laundry. The washers were both broken. The bathrooms and showers were concrete floors with standing water and pretty rough looking. A complete makeover is needed. The campground itself was pretty and peaceful and right on the river. Grass campsites were level. The lady running the place was friendly and helpful. The dump station is hidden in the trees by the flag pole. No sign and easy to miss even when you've been told where it is. A fee to use Wi-Fi so we didn't. We would stay here again, but use our own toilet and shower. - User2793
Jul 2012 - $35.00
This is a rather small campground, and there are not a lot of activities planned at the campground, but overall it was a decent place to stay. The pool is small but was never really crowded when we were here. There is direct access to the river where you can fish, tube, canoe, or float if you want. The owners are pretty decent and they don't gouge you on prices. We'd come back again if we were ever this direction. - tdslsmo
Sep 2006 - $14.00
This is a very small, well run park. Our family loved it. While there is no swimming availability at the camp ground the owners are very willing to give directions to local swimming holes and rivers. The owners were wonderful to us, helping us out in any way we needed. When they found out that we were in the area to do some genealogy they introduced us to a local historian and gave us lots of information on the area. The grounds themselves are lovely. We stayed in a shady site that was more than generous for our pop-up. This is not the place to go if you want tons of activities for the kids or big swimming pools and entertainment. It is camping like it was meant to be: clear stars at night, peaceful woods and fields and family around the campfire. The kids loved the hike to the cliffs. The bathrooms were flush toilets and free hot showers. Very basic, but clean and with plenty of hot water and toilet paper! We will definitely stay here again!! The web site was great with pictures of each site and really a true to life description of the whole campground. No hype and down to earth. - nony0
Oct 2014 - $22.00
This is a Vermont State Park with no hookups but a dump station. We had a nice, clean, and quite large site right on the water which offered privacy and scenic viewing. The restroom for our particular loop was immaculate. Surprised there was only one shower. Would not want to be there in high season! The rangers were friendly and helpful. The park was very quiet at night. We heard owls and saw eagles flying over the pond. For a day trip, we put our tow vehicle on the ferry, about an hour away, and did the 7 minute crossing to Fort Ticonderoga. Lake George is about 2 hours away. There isn't a lot to do here if you're not into fishing, hiking or just relaxing, but the local scenery is superb in the autumn. There are beautiful lakes and farmlands surrounding the campground. Lots of farm stands selling fresh, local produce. Very happy we stayed here and would return. - Buckie
Aug 2008 - $23.00
My family and I camp here every year. This is a nice quiet clean campground. The staff here run this campground excellent. I have not been to any place yet that matches this campground. If you want a nice quiet, clean get away camp here. - bigjimbo78
Jun 2008 - $18.00
This is a lovely Vermont State Park where you can camp next to the lake. Fishing is excellent with hiking trails abundant. Vermont is into "Old Fashioned" camping sites so no hook-ups which was OK with us since we have solar and a generator as part of our 27 foot motorhome. There are several lakes nearby and biking on the backroads. We have extended for a full week. If one can do without hookups, this is a great find. They do have a dump station and a water source for RVs. Roads are a bit narrow so I'd not recommend any rigs over 30 feet long. The staff is very friendly. - David R
Jul 2016 - $40.00
Awesome campground. Indoor mini-golf, huge camp store, duel waterslides and they even have a pizzeria at the lake. We plan to be back again. - RiggsandClem
Jul 2015 - $39.00
Shower actually had a seat and shelves to put things on. This is one of the nicer KOA's we have stayed at. Very large gift shop, adequate General store. Very large game room with mini golf. Movies in "theater" at night. Easy to find, sites about average to pull into. - DaPope
Oct 2014 - $40.00
Very rough bathroom is not clean, and has a misting showerhead. The lake is millfoil-covered and slimy. Can see lots of splices in the site electric cables that are hung from trees instead of on poles or run underground. - luminary110
