Located along the shore of Lake Champlain, Apple Island RV Resort is a fairly large community, with RV sites available to rent or own or cottages available to own. The resort is across U.S. Route 2 from a marina with boat rentals and next to a 9-hole par 3 golf course. Located at the entrance to the park is a general store with basic camping, RV, and fishing supplies and a deli with sandwiches. Up a short drive from the store is the Resort Registration Office, where our check-in was quickly and pleasantly accomplished and we were escorted to our site. We happened to have a Platinum Plus site (IC060), and while it was nice not to have anyone in front of us, it is really not worth the additional expense. The Platinum sites behind us are on tiered levels, thus most have great views of Lake Champlain. The sites are hard-packed gravel and just wide enough for a coach, WITHOUT the slides out. Once they are out, you are walking on grass, which can be mushy if it has rained. We were told that future plans include the eventual widening of the sites and their entrances, so this problem will not occur. Also located at the resort is a Community Center with a fitness room, library with computer center, a great room with a kitchen, and a heated swimming pool and spa. A playground for children, bathhouses, laundry facilities, walking trails, and golf cart rentals round out the amenities. We used Apple Island as a home base while taking day trips to Plattsburg, NY, Burlington, Montpelier, St. Albans, and Waterbury, VT (Ben & Jerry's Factory Tour). We also drove to Montreal, Canada, spending three days seeing this eclectic city, while leaving the coach safely at Apple Island. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

We live only 160 miles away and had 4 days to get away. Though this park is pricey, we did ask for a platinum plus site overlooking the lake and were very pleased. We had been here 10 years ago and it now looks like a big overflow lot has been turned into full hookups. We thought our site was spacious and plenty long for our 40 ft. and tow vehicle. Staff were very friendly and plentiful, especially during the holiday weekend. Though we were settled midweek, we noticed 8-10 employees help keep the checkin process flowing smoothly as the holiday got closer. Nice little store onsite for supplies, subs, wine, and camping goods. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

We had reserved a Lake View site some time ago. The site we were initially given was Lake View only if there were no motorhomes parked in front of you. We worked with the staff to get a premium lake view site which was unobstructed. There are some nice Lake View sites on terraces but one needs to be very careful on the location. Our site was crushed rock with no patio area. Grass was minimal. For the price, the sites need to have a patio area that is concrete or similar surface as opposed to dirt. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice park. We had a drive-in/back out site, facing a large lake. The office workers, and grounds workers, were all nice and helpful. The interior roads are all black rock gravel. It is easy to manurer the interior roads. They have lots of activities, yoga classes ($5.00) water aerobics (free) Bingo on Fridays. My husband and I came to enjoy the area, and did not get to enjoy the pool, hot tub, or any of the classes. If I need to complain about anything, it is about the lay out of the RV sites. The rock pads are 90 degree to the interior roads, 9' by 65' long, instead of on an angle for easy pull in and back out. There is no way you can turn a 45' coach 90 degrees into a narrow site, without getting your back wheels on the grassy area (scary, and worry about sinking). But on the good side, the grassy area between each site, is large and spacious. The views are beautiful. We have truly enjoyed our 6 days here. We were here doing turtle nesting season, and were able to watch several turtles to dig holes, lay eggs, and the cover the nest. An enjoyable plus for the area. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

The lake view lots are not worth the money. Your site is in the middle of a grass field with a small pad made of gravel. The gravel pad was not long wide enough for many larger motorhomes. It had been raining the week before we arrived and the whole site was nothing but mud and there is no concrete pad to even step out of your coach onto. We felt this was seriously overpriced. They call this a resort but I think that only applies if you are in the upper level which was a combination of nice grassy sites and park models which were obviously occupied by long term seasonal renters. The staff were not rude, but they certainly were not helpful or friendly. The roads were tight and we ended up driving out thru the site in front of us as we could not back out due to the guy in back of us having to park his truck on the road. The sites are not long enough to get a 40' coach and a car or truck on. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed along the front line overlooking the lake. RVs line up but there is a nice amount of space between them so it's comfortable. The view is lovely and I hope they don't over grow as it will kill that park. There are many seasonal but they are in another section and are all very tidy. The pool area, laundry and recreation building all very nice. We enjoyed our time there and truly enjoyed the area. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

Booked a three night stay the week before they closed for the season to take advantage of their "stay 3 nights/pay for 2" promotion. Still paid $57.00/night to park our Roadtrek in an open field. Water and electric only. Restrooms were immaculate but unheated. No paper towel dispenser. No hot water. Separate individual showers were also spotless and DID have hot water and good pressure. Nice people in the office (they moved our site at our request w/o hassle. But WILDLY overpriced for shoulder season campers. Probably nice in the summertime with facilities (clubhouse, pool, Par 3 course) open but we won't be back. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Come to South Hero during the summer, no later than Labor Day. The islands come to a virtual standstill by mid-October. Tips: Apple picking, taking the Lake Champlain ferry to New York State (15 minute ride for just a few bucks), Green Mountain Marathon and Half Marathon (early October). Ran this 30 years ago and it's still going strong. Beautiful course. An event serious runners should not miss.

A lovely, well-maintained park adjacent to Lake Champlain. Friendly, efficient and knowledgable staff. There is a large seasonal community, but upscale and quite nice. The ONLY negative was the lousy wifi reception. Guests can get very good wifi at the nice and comfortable library (but it would be nicer in the comfort of the trailer). Our site was a back-in (most are) on a bluff over looking the park and lake/bay. It needed some leveling, but nothing major. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed spending a day in Burlington - Church Street shopping and people-watching, and walking the harbor recreation trail along the lake. We had an excellent lunch at Leunig's Bistro on Church St. We also drove north of the park up the island to see perhaps the "oldest log cabin in America." It was closed but fun to peak in the windows at a slice of history.

Stayed here for 11 nights on a Lakeview Water/Electric Only site. The site was large and plenty of room for my three children to move and explore. Site was a pull-through and large fire ring was provided. We only had water and electric, but dump site was close enough that it was not an issue. We enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of the main campground area. Pool was extremely clean. Laundry area was clean and was reasonably priced. This resort is located on Lake Champlain, close to the Bike trail/Bike Ferry, close to the farmers market, and easy access to get to Burlington. My husband and daughter played 18 holes of golf at their on-site golf course. Well-maintained course. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming to our fulltime family of 5. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

This is my new place to stay. Everything about it was wonderful: large sites looking at Lake Champlain, beautiful pool, nice rec room, bands, dances, catered dinners, spotless bathrooms, friendly staff, excellent camp store, convenient to everything, great place for your dog. We only stayed 1 night prior to a rally in Essex Junction. Park was clean and checkin was efficient, we were led to our site. A word of caution for booking reservations online, make sure you know what your getting, we thought we had booked a FHU but only had water and electric and needed to hit the dump station on the way out prior to several days at a rally with no waste hookup. Using the dump station requires navigating around the park a little which was a little tight in a 41' coach but not awful. Our water/elec site did have a nice view of the lake. This park is very handy to Essex Junction and Burlington areas. We were only there 1 night so didn't use any other services. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

The park was nice and grew on us as we stayed. It is very convenient for visiting Burlington, VT, or for enjoying the Lake Champlain Islands. There were numerous amenities and some activities but we did not partake of any. There were some new sites that have water views that I would have preferred but they were not indicated on the website camp site map. If we return we would request one of those sites (AB013 - AB019).

This park is mostly seasonal and owner owned sites, but we felt welcome and enjoyed ourselves.

If you like antique tools, there is a museum onsite of 2800 tools and domestic items that were collected by the owners father and are nicely displayed in a restored barn. Well worth looking at. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Motorhome.

There were way too many park models and permanent sites for our taste. The site we were assigned would not possible accommodate our 44' MH, however they quickly moved us to a suitable pull-through site. All the hookups worked well. Nice park. Great location on Lake Champlain. Even though the park is not right on the Lake it has great views of it. Easy to get in and out of. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice large and level sites. The only drawback is that their internet service was not too good and we were less than 100 feet away from one of the transmitters. The normal rate is very high in my opinion, at $62/day. However we were able to get the pay for 2/stay for 3 discount rate which brought it down to a more reasonable cost. We would stay here again. We camped at Apple Island Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
