We stopped here for one night on our way back to Boston. Concrete pull through site was good size. After hours check in was easy. Small playground (couple swings and a slide) and a pool (closed seasonally). Free coffee in the office! Our site was loud, being so close to 95 we heard traffic and trucks all night, but that's to be expected. We will definitely stay here again as a stop over site when headed south. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

This park has two areas, one for short term visitors, and one for monthly people. Because we were staying in the Richmond area for a month, we opted for that. Our rate ($19/day) did not include electricity - like all of the long term sites, ours was metered, and the cost of electricity came to about $2/day (it was cold and we ran our electric heater a lot). On the plus side is the easy access to the region's historic places, a very friendly and helpful and cheerful staff, a very good RV store, waffles in the morning and excellent Wi-Fi and cable TV. Trash is picked up at your site, and they pick up empty propane tanks and deliver them filled. On the negative side, the roads in the long term area are horrible, with LARGE holes in the dirt. It rained in March, and we lived in an endless sea of mud. We had noise from nearby I-95, and the pallet factory adjoining the RV park. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

See the state capitol, designed by Thomas Jefferson, and all the Civil War battlefields.

We stayed at this park for two nights. We got a Vip spot so that we could get satellite. The spot was hard to level and we had a lot of road noise. This place is over priced and I would not stay here again. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

This campground was again our first stop on our trek south. The staff remains very friendly. While just off I-95, it is surprisingly quiet. The complementary waffle breakfast was a treat! We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

Great park for an overnight or extended stay. Great base for exploring Richmond area. Many long level pull-thru sites. Most sites have good separation for each other. Easy access from I-95. Utilities, including Wifi, worked well. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a couple of nights to see the area. The park has easy access to & from Interstate 95. The interior roads were gravel. The sites were grave,l but bordered with old railroad ties making them very narrow. Some of the sites had a concrete patio with an outside table. They have full hook ups – water, electricity (50 AMP), & sewer connections. The utility connections were about mid way down the site but the fittings were not easy to connect. The sites were generally level. Privacy between the sites is based upon the distance between the sites. The park had two separate areas. One that was covered by a tree canopy making satellite reception unlikely. The other one had a clear view of the southern sky so satellite reception was good. WiFi reception was good. There seem to be some long term residents but they were in another area. The designated fenced pet area was adequate. There was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park road and along the nearby public roads. There was a bag dispenser next to the fenced dog area to pick up waste. No dumpster available but there was site garbage collection. For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, there was no underground storm shelter. None of the structures in the park were identified as a severe weather shelter. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

Good location for visiting sites in Richmond, Williamsburg etc. Verizon and MiFi worked good. Sites were well spaced and level. Staff was very nice at checking in and showing us our site and even came back to see if all was OK. Offered us waffles in morning. We would stay there again. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty nice park very convenient to I-95. Road noise not bad. Have stayed a number of times before when traveling up/down "95". Power in summer is marginal. This stay barely 110 volts with nothing turned on. Site B10 was pretty short for a 38' motor home towing. Usually ask for a back-in. There are a number of pretty nice restaurants in the area. This trip was a pretty long day for us and we just wanted to stop and sit. Interior roads very good, no real tight turns. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

This is a large park with all the amenities of a resort; pool, activity center, laundry, showers, etc. The laundry was small, but clean. Pool was very busy; there was free Wi-Fi, and there was a free waffle breakfast every morning but one. The field staff was very courteous and helpful. The downside of this resort is the constant noise from I-95; the park is literally just yards from it. Also, it is beginning to look like a trailer park; it needs someone with authority to go around and notify patrons to clean up their areas. One of the ladies at the front desk needs to take a class on how to deal with people, because she was very rude. We would stay here again, but for an overnight stop only. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Our site was a pull-through with full hook-ups. This was our second stay at this park. Even though we find, in general, that KOA parks are way too expensive, this one is fairly reasonable. The staff is friendly, and we were even given a FREE waffle breakfast (and coffee), a first at a KOA. Cable TV was analog but had lots of channels to choose from. The Wi-Fi was quick and dependable. Trash is picked up directly from your campsite. The pet area was a bit removed from our campsite, but our dog enjoyed the walk. I-95 is just a stone's throw from the campground, so you have to leave your AC on or use some other means to block out that noise. We will come back again because we really like it here. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

I don't give many parks a rating of 10, but this is one. Our site was shady, mostly level and sufficiently wide. Roads are sufficiently wide. Utilities all worked well, including (and this is a rarity) the Wi-Fi and cable. Very well equipped workout room. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location for visiting Richmond, Kings Dominion, or just as an overnight stop (very convenient to I-95). We will definitely stay here again. Site was level, shaded, dirt, and moderately wide. Not all sites are shaded or wide. Easy access to site. Laundry & bath houses were clean. Immediately adjacent to highway, which was busy and noisy during the night. Free waffle and fruit breakfast except on Thursdays. Good for an overnight. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

One night stay while we visited family in the area. Level site. Friendly staff. Stone's throw from Interstate 95 located in an industrial area with no fencing to separate property. OK as a stop over. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here several times over the past three years and each time it gets better. They have made wonderful improvements and it is a first class, well run place to stay. There are a majority of pull-through sites, all of which appear to be level. On this visit we stayed for a week, choosing a back-in site, to which we were escorted and patiently aided in positioning our 33' fifth wheel. The hospitality at this campground is exceptional. The office and grounds staff are all friendly and accommodating and the delicious complimentary waffles offered each morning is an extraordinary and appreciated amenity. There is a well-stocked store and a clean and inviting pool. Access from I-95 south or north is quick and easy. This is a great place to stay for a night or longer. We found it a good home base for sightseeing in Richmond. We have every intention of returning to this campground and recommend it highly. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.
