Stayed here for 2 Months. 560.00+elec. Staff is very friendly and park is under new ownership and is being upgraded. Sites are stacked and very very close to interstate. Noisy all the time. A lot of full timers as well as travelers just passing through. it is a busy place, but safe. Gym is Great, new equipment and spacious. Store is well stocked. Pool is Small. Playground area is small but in good shape. Close to Richmond and all that it has to offer. Wifi is free and works ok. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

I have no complaints about this park. The staff has been exceptionally helpful (tried to help me jump-start my truck, and then gave me a ride to the auto-repair shop after we were unsuccessful). They have free waffles most mornings, a free ice cream social most Sunday evenings, and a hot-dog dinner on Thursdays. The playground is ok, and they have a small swimming pool. The grounds and all facilities are kept very clean. There are a lot of long-term fulltime campers here, which is not a negative thing, just an observation. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to check out the Canal Walk, Belle Isle, Maymont, and Hollywood Cemetery while you're in the area!

Nice park. SUPER friendly staff who squeezed us in at the last minute even though we didn't have a reservation. Nice office store. Campground is heavily treed with some fairly tight turns, but all are doable. Well maintained - clean and well trimmed up. Sites are somewhat small and close together in this urban campground and offer little privacy. Paved sites are available but ours was sand/dirt, as were the roads. Power and water pressure were very good. They pick up trash at your site any time of day. WIFI was excellent, among the best we've come across in a campground. Good cable (too many trees for satellite.) A quick jump on the freeway to get downtown for sightseeing. 4 for value because of noise from I95. Our site was somewhat away from the road and the noise wasn't too bad, but I don't know how the folks up front do it. Make sure to ask for a site in the back, away from the road. We'd come here again. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of Revolutionary War and Civil War history downtown. Don't miss St John's Church where Patrick Henry gave his famous speech.

Check in was fast and the staff was friendly and helpful. We escorted to our site which was very long and reasonably level. There was a small amount of freeway noise. Site and interior roads are gravel with many mature tree providing shade. Price was the biggest negative, but your paying for proximity to Richmond and other attractions. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ate at MI Jalisco Mexican restaurant. Food was good and service acceptable. It's about 5 minutes from the park and next to a Food Lion and across the street from a Walmart.

The people who run this park are the friendliest we've seen! They are also generous, offering free ice cream cups, DVD's and over a Labor Day weekend, free drinks. They have a free waffle breakfast in the morning too. Our site was D-10, backed up near the office, shaded by big trees. It was fairly roomy and level. The sites are close together, but they are arranged at an angle to give you the illusion of a little more privacy. The laundry is big with lots of machines and very clean. I saw at least ten wi-fi repeaters on my computer, and their free wi-fi was good for the whole holiday weekend. All of the utilities worked well. The big negative that would prevent us from staying here for an extended period is the incessant traffic noise from I-95. It is best to ask for a site away from the road. We will be back, as we really like the people here, and we are up and down the east coast every year. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

Excellent, first class service from the the staff, especially the managers. FHU, free WiFi, cable, waffle breakfast, and dog run. Only negatives, sites are fairly close together and some noise from I-95. In Richmond for doctors appointments and had to extend stay for follow-up appointment. They had no problem adding 3 days to our reservation. Will stay there again in October. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Plenty to see and do in Richmond. Civil war history, shopping, nice restaurants.

If you are a NASCAR fan this is the place to camp! Located within 200yds of I-95 we thought we were next to Richmond Raceway. The noise of the expressway, airplanes from a nearby airport, sirens, was almost too much to bear. Sitting outside at times you could not even hear each other talk.

We had just picked up a new 5th wheel across the way and were going to stay here a few nights to shake it down for problems. We had no problems we are happy to say.

Aside from the extreme noise the campground is very clean, easy to maneuver through, good staff, and many good amenities. Had I known in advance I would have asked for a site not so close to the expressway but, many of the good ones are occupied by seasonal units. Understandable.

Good place for one or two nights. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a large rv park right on I-95 in Ashland which is basically a suburb north of Richmond. Because of its location, road noise was significant. However, because it was so hot we had to run the a.c. constantly so the highway noise didn't really bother us. The restrooms/showers were nice and clean and conveniently located. The sites were really tight and a little tricky to back into because of that. I would not consider this a destination park in itself, but it was conveniently located to Richmond, Fredericksburg and Colonial Williamsburg. Ashland is a nice-sized town with plenty of restaurants. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to visit Fredericksburg which is about 30 minutes north of Ashland. I only allotted one day which wasn't nearly enough. There is so much history there (both Civil War and Colonial) it just oozes it! Most of the historic homes and buildings are either free or for a nominal fee. Also, all the parking is free! The old downtown is charming. I saw (among other things) George Washington's mother's house and his sister's mansion (gorgeous ceilings).

This campground is very convenient to I-95. It's a great place to stay if touring the area: close to Richmond, Petersburg, Fredericksburg, and Williamsburg. We were traveling through, so we only stayed one night. The pull-thru site we stayed in was long and level. The night we were there they were having a Ladies' Night in the Rally Room. At check-in we were also told about free waffles for breakfast the next day. This is going down on our list of campgrounds to return to. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This park has two areas, one for short term visitors, and one for monthly people. Because we were staying in the Richmond area for a month, we opted for that. Our rate ($19/day) did not include electricity - like all of the long term sites, ours was metered, and the cost of electricity came to about $2/day (it was cold and we ran our electric heater a lot). On the plus side is the easy access to the region's historic places, a very friendly and helpful and cheerful staff, a very good RV store, waffles in the morning and excellent Wi-Fi and cable TV. Trash is picked up at your site, and they pick up empty propane tanks and deliver them filled. On the negative side, the roads in the long term area are horrible, with LARGE holes in the dirt. It rained in March, and we lived in an endless sea of mud. We had noise from nearby I-95, and the pallet factory adjoining the RV park. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

See the state capitol, designed by Thomas Jefferson, and all the Civil War battlefields.

We stopped here for one night on our way back to Boston. Concrete pull through site was good size. After hours check in was easy. Small playground (couple swings and a slide) and a pool (closed seasonally). Free coffee in the office! Our site was loud, being so close to 95 we heard traffic and trucks all night, but that's to be expected. We will definitely stay here again as a stop over site when headed south. We stayed at this park for two nights. We got a Vip spot so that we could get satellite. The spot was hard to level and we had a lot of road noise. This place is over priced and I would not stay here again. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.

This campground was again our first stop on our trek south. The staff remains very friendly. While just off I-95, it is surprisingly quiet. The complementary waffle breakfast was a treat! Great park for an overnight or extended stay. Great base for exploring Richmond area. Many long level pull-thru sites. Most sites have good separation for each other. Easy access from I-95. Utilities, including Wifi, worked well. We camped at Americamps RV Resort (formerly Richmond North / Americamps KOA) in a Motorhome.
