This is a wonderful family owned campground. Our site was small and close to our neighbor. We had the creek running behind us so that was nice. Had cable with 25 channels and wifi that was slow sometimes. There was a great path on the other side of the creek that was close to 5 miles that ran for the most part by the creek. There was a pavilion with picnic tables and rocking chairs and other seats. The bathrooms were first rate always clean and about the best we have experienced in all our years of camping. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We were traveling over Labor Day needing a place to stay for 2 nights on our way to NC. Called the campground and talked to the owner. He had one site left, asked if he needed a credit card he said "Not at all. When can I expect you?" Great service!

Upon arrival we sat at the pavilion and he and other RV'ers gave us some great suggestions for side trips. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited Lynch KY which was an old company owned coal mining town established in the early 20's. Lynch has a coal mine tour, Portal 31, open Tuesday through Saturday. We also enjoyed the vistas at

Kingdom Come State Park. If you get hungry, eat at Charlotte's Hoagie Shop in Cumberland.

Use the entrance closest to town. Interior roads and site drives are gravel. Big rig maneuverability is good. There are strips of grass between you and your neighbor. Power is strong and water pressure is good. Sewer port on the pull-through sites were set back from the pedestal, so you may need a longer hose. Verizon had 2 bars. Satellite TV was no problem at the center sites. Against the hill and on the lower level will probably be hard to get. Owner is very friendly and easy going. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Motorhome.

Museum of SW Virginia nearby was worth the visit. Visited the Portal 31 Mine in Lynch, KY. Curvy roads were exciting in tow car. Not a journey for a big rig! We visited during the Dock Biggs Music Festival in Norton. Great single day for old time and bluegrass as well as dancing.

Price included state and city tax. We had a long gravel pull through site, roads were gravel and grass between the sites. There were many long term seasonal folks. Owner is very laid back and friendly, comes around the office in the last afternoon. One evening there was a small jam session in their pavilion. Pretty location in the mountains and well maintained. The 50a, water and sewer all worked fine as did our rooftop dish. We used the parks free WiFi and cable TV. I would have rated it higher except for the nightly price. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a wonderful small RV park. The owner takes great pride in the grounds and works every day to keep it beautiful. There are pull through sites and back ins. All the sites are roomy for large rigs with grass between sites. The owner lets you pick whatever available site you like. 50 Volt electric power was very good as well as the cable tv. The wifi was a little slow at times but was mostly very good. Our pull through site was in full sun but many of the back-in sites were partial shade. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Natural Tunnel SP nearby. There is a bike trail that connects to the campground. Grocery shopping, hardware stores, etc. within a mile or 2 of the CG. They have a wood carving club that meets at the pavilion, and we happened to be there one of those nights- that was fun to watch. Seems like a great place to stop, especially if you like the mountains.

Our pull through was plenty long for the 5W and truck. 50a FHU utilities all worked fine. Rooftop dish had a good signal and the cable for TV worked good in the bedroom. Verizon cell phone and hotspot worked well as did the campground WiFi. The site was gravel with some grass between sites, the road was also gravel and wide. Staff was very friendly. Minor road noise. There were at 2 or 3 dogs running loose but we had no problem with them. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great little hidden gem - off the beaten track but certainly worth a visit. We were warmly greeted by the owner who, once we explained why two Aussie travelers ended up outside the normal touristy areas, provided us with information about what was to see in the area - certainly enough to keep us busy for our 4-day stay. The office and covered common area had lots of memorabilia that the owner has collected over the years. We sat there on several occasions talking to him about the history of the area. The park backs onto a trout-filled stream - we were lucky enough to talk to a local fisherman who gave us four freshly caught trout. There are also walking trails along the rivers edge where you will find some quite unique tree carvings done by John. The Wi-Fi was fantastic, all services worked well and our site level - what more could we have wanted - a wonderful host and a beautifully maintained park. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at this quiet, well maintained RV park. Wi-Fi and cable TV worked well. Park was very clean and sites were level. Restrooms and showers were clean. Pull-through sites will accommodate large rigs. We will stay here again when in the area. Rate is nightly. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This small park adjoins a city park and greenway along a creek with a pedestrian drawbridge. It is a family operation run by very pleasant folk. The park is very clean an well kept, although it does get a little soggy in hard rains. Cable is available, but you have to get a cable box (loaned) from the office. Wifi worked fine. We had satellite coverage, but some sites might not. We also had good AT&T cell coverage. The pull-through sites are long enough for our toy hauler and wide enough for slides and awning. The surrounding back-in's looked to be spaced a little farther apart. There are very nice flower plantings with more on the way. We really liked this park. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was the best park that we have stayed in. To start with we can not say enough about how great the owner was to us. The park itself is very well kept and in a beautiful setting. Showers and restrooms were in good shape and clean. Great walking trail and easy access to town. Wi-Fi worked great. If you are ever in this area its a great place to stop! Yes we would stay again. This is a very nice park and the owner really works to kept it pretty. He'd just finished setting up his autumn displays which were beautiful. The bathrooms were very clean and the showers are huge with great hot water supply. We had called, as well as sent an e-mail, asking for a pull-through because we're just over 64 ft. Upon arrival there were plenty to choose. He suggested the one we ended up taking and it was great. All sites are gravel (and level) and a large grassy area with picnic table and fire ring on the right side. This place was so quiet we slept with windows opened. There's a paved path associated with the local authorities that is reachable from the park. FYI - if you follow routing to here from southbound I-81 there is a 13'4" bridge (signs posted 15 miles before) that was not listed in our Rand McNally Motor Carriers Atlas. All in all, the type of place that deserves a 10. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a great small RV park, 10 or more big spots for big rigs (we are 45'). Easy in and out, just off the highway . Good water pressure. Great walking trail across foot bridge. If I get the chance I will stay here again. The owner and his family run the place. Nicest people you could ever meet. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Motorhome.

Third time here. Clean laundry and park. Lots of easy back-ins; some by the river are a little more crowded. Great hiking trail along river into town/high school area. Owner takes much pride in taking care of the park. Music some weekends in the summer. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
