This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have ever visited. Each campsite is placed along the lakeside. We camped in site 80 on Loop 3. The campsites are some of the largest we have seen and are well spaced. All have some shade and most are very shaded. This loop has short trails that lead from each site to the lake so that you can tie your boat close to your site. Swim, kayak, and enjoy the lake directly from the site. If you need to stay at another loop, ask about this availability when you call to make reservations. There extra areas for parking around the loop so that if you have a boat trailer or extra cars, there is space available. We certainly plan to return to Rudd Creek Campground! We camped at Rudds Creek Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

We rented a boat and spent one day on the lake. Pontoon rental was $250 for the day and included gas. There is a grocery 20 minutes from the campground, and a Dollar General 15 minutes away.

We stayed in this park 4 nights while visiting family. The park is very large with many loops. We stayed at the very end of the park. Our site was on the water. There had been flooding before we arrived and the lake was up 5 feet which put the water edge close to the campsite. It did not impact our campsite. The sites on this loop were private and spacious. Previous campers had left the site dirty with trash. Had to pick up debris and remove garbage from fire ring. Shower house for this loop was at the top of the loop which you had to drive to. Toilet facilities only were in the bathhouse closest to our site. We camped at Rudds Creek Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This facility is easily accessed via Highway 58 a major 4 lane road that runs east/west through Virginia. There are one or two gas stations within 10 miles of the entrance. This is a gem of a park. Campground hosts are very helpful. The roads in the park are all paved, no overhanging trees, nor trees on the side of the road to snag your rig. There are a few sharp corners but I had no problem negotiating them with my 36 MH with toad in tow. Our site #75 was a back in, easy to get into, hard packed dirt with gravel on top and was fairly level. Electric (50 amp) and water were conveniently located about mid coach. There was a fire pit and picnic table. We had a fantastic view every night of the sun setting on the reservoir which was just across from our site. The rest rooms were cleaned daily. The showers were modern, plenty of hot water, and cleaned daily. The park itself is well maintained with no overgrown weeds, brush, etc. In the summer given the number of trees around us I'm sure it would be well shaded. The main draw here is either boating or fishing on the reservoir. We would come here again with no hesitation. We camped at Rudds Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Clarksville is about 20 minutes to the west on Route 58 and has everything you might need - a Dollar General Market (think Food Lion/Acme), auto parts store, restaurants, fast food, Chinese takeout, etc.

Towards Clarksville there is also a business that rents pontoon boats, though we didn't find it until the day we were leaving.

Great park on the John Kerr Reservoir, sites are wooded, spacious, and well separated, with electric & water hookups, there is a nice double sided dump station. Bathrooms and showers worked well and were cleaned daily. Our site, as many others we noticed were very level, ours required only a single lynx block, (1 in.). There are fishing, boating and swimming opportunities, but we were there to just relax. Our rate was with the Senior Pass, we will definitely come back. We camped at Rudds Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

We only stayed over night, but I wish we could have stayed longer. We had a back in site under many trees. All of the sites were tree covered. There were nice fire pits, fish cleaning tables, lantern hooks and picnic tables. There was a bit of space between sites, so we weren't looking directly into the camper next to us.

The bathrooms were clean and well kept.

I did not go down to the water it, but I believe there is a boat ramp. We camped at Rudds Creek Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a small gas station / general store nearby. It is old and not fancy, but it is well stocked and clean. The ladies who were cooking up the breakfast foods were keeping things fresh and hot.

One of the best COE parks we've camped in. Sites are well laid out and are spacious. This campground would be a great value even at full price. We camped at Rudds Creek Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice lakeside park. The sites are large, well laid out and maintained, and lots of greenery giving some privacy from neighbors. Only issue would be the local health dept testing showed high coliform(?) bacteria level in park drinking water. No issue for us, we used water previously loaded into our fresh tank. Lovely COE campground, lots of level sites with big patios. Rate reflects 50% senior NPS pass. Big rig friendly but sites on smaller tear drop loops hard to navigate with a big rig, suggest higher numbered sites at the back. Most campers are boaters and/or fishermen, boat ramp in campground and fish cleaning tables at sites. Fairly remote. We camped at Rudds Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

We were happy next to this beautiful lake in site 082 in loop BLOO for two nights. Lovely shaded sites with very little traffic, although the park appeared to be about 80% occupied. There are several Corps of Engineers campgrounds on the lake with plenty of opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, and picnicking. We plan to try them all. Nice campsites available on the lake. Easy access off of Rte 58. Convenient to Clarksville and South Hill, VA. Not busy the last week of the season but I can see how this would be a popular area. Sites are nicely spaced and usually some privacy between them. Will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Rudds Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

We loved this park! We were in site 100 which was a two tiered camp site. The sites are very large, and kept nicely. We did have a "water view" but at the very end of the cove and the water levels are very low. No real trails at this campground, so bring equipment for fun on the water. Very nice COE as are most. Sites are large to fit most size RVs. The staff and ranger were very helpful. Kerr Lake is beautiful. While we were here the world’s record was set for a blue catfish at 143lbs, was set. The closest town is Clarksville 7miles away. Electric and water were good. Would come back again. Absolutely the nicest place we've stayed, we spent 5 nights. Only one leg of the 50A connection worked so we adapted to 30A, no problems. This is a truly nice park, we will definitely return. If you have a Senior Pass you can save 50%. Weekends are a little crowded, but it's understandable. The sites are large, and most are fairly level. There are only a couple pull through's, but we had no problem with a back-in. The Park is gated, and the Hosts/Attendants are very friendly and helpful. This is a wonderful campground if you like anything to do with water. A good majority of the sites are on the water and some have a really good view of the lake. The site we were on (33) had somewhat of a waterview and a path that led to the lake. Our site was long, enough room for 30 foot trailer, 24 foot boat and truck in-line. The site for the trailer was at the top of some stairs and the campsite area with picnic table and fire ring was down below. Very large area and well shaded. There were 2 beach areas one for campers only and the other was day use. We swam in the day use area because the beach and swim area were larger. The bathrooms were clean, good hot/cold and water pressure. We will return. We camped at Rudds Creek Park COE in a Travel Trailer.
