This is heavily wooded park is a good value. Most of the sites are back-ins. There are some banana shaped drive-throughs off the side of the roads. Some sites appear to be set up as buddy sites being pretty close together. Other sites are further apart. Some sites have trees close to the parking area that could make it difficult for rigs with multiple slides. Some sites have only 20/30 Amp service. For some sites, the closest water spigot is on the opposite side of the road. The tree canopy is almost completely closed. We found a site where the Direct TV 101 satellite was in line with the road and were able to get TV using a tripod dish. Cable is not available at all sites. Verizon signal was good. The WIFI worked well, but the campground was virtually empty. We camped at Sugar Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park. Driving in was a bit confusing, as there weren't any signs directing you to the campground. You just continue past the parking lot where the baseball fields are. And keep going. Up. The roads are paved until a certain point. After that it is a bit rough going if you're in a large rig. We were in a 36' Class A with a tow vehicle and it was slow going. Definitely drop your tow vehicle coming and going. If you park near the playground, there is a woman living in her trailer there with her dogs. That barks. And it echoes. We spoke to her and she was oblivious. Spoke then to the Ranger and he said that it wasn't "quiet hours" yet and we could move. They were still disturbing the peace and you could hear the barking throughout the park. We had planned to stay another night, but decided not to after that. It was our understanding that this is a "first come first serve" campground, yet we were told that someone had paid and reserved the spot we were in for the weekend. The sites are spacious with fire pits and a table. No doubt about it, this is a beautiful park. We camped at Sugar Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out Bristol Speedway. And State St where the Geico commercial was filmed. You can be in Tennessee and Virginia at the same time. Great downtown area to walk about.

Not a bad campground but very nice park! The only thing that bothered us was that the sites were a little close and not many were level. We have no way to level our motorhome except blocks. The first site we backed in to we were unable to level with our blocks. This is maybe our fault for not being prepared. Very few sites had water and the ones that did were not level. We ended up filling our fresh water tanks and moving to a more level spot. Staff was super friendly and I give them a A+. Near stores for supplies and fuel. No camp store that I know of. We camped at Sugar Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Barter theater in Abingdon is one of our favorites! It's a "must do" if we are in the area. Virginia Creeper Trail is another "must do". We use Blue Blaze Bike Rental & Shuttle (super nice guys) to White top mountain and bike back down to Damascus. All a gentle grade down hill. Not much exercise but the scenery is awesome.

Beautiful city park nestled in the woods with 30/50 amp electric at most sites, water at some sites, cable tv at few sites near the back of the campground, old but clean restroom/showers facilities, and very quiet. WiFi available but didn't work and the ranger said it seldom does. When entering I thought it looked a little tight for big rigs but then I saw a large 5th wheel and a Class A parked. Roads are mostly paved and sites are graveled. Playground for kids, nice hiking trails scattered throughout the park and a golf course adjacent to the park. $18 cash only for any site - pay at the toll both and go pick your site. A nice place to spend the night or a few days. We camped at Sugar Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stay here for the annual Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion festival. The roads are nice, the campsite we had was very level and recently re-graveled. The cable TV worked. The employees here really seem to enjoy being here.
This is a very nice and inexpensive place to stay if you are traveling up or down I-81.
Lots of woods all around this municipally - owned campground. We camped at Sugar Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This city park is located on densely wooded hills. Although the blacktop roads throughout the park are steep and narrow, the gravel sites are reasonably level. There is a mix of back-in and pull-thru sites. WiFi was supposedly available; however, we used our Verizon hotspot with good signal strength. The park was very quiet with only a few other campers. The water hook-ups are shared between several sites. The 50amp electric was good quality. No sewer hook-ups, but there is a dump station. No satellite TV due to the tall trees. The park gate is closed at night (7:30PM-7:30AM). Overall a nice park. We camped as an overnight stop and would stay here again. We camped at Sugar Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.
