Stayed here for two nights. The site was one of their premium sites with concrete patio (only thing available at the time of the reservation). All utilities worked fine. Staff was friendly and helpful. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at Harrisonburg/Shenandoah Valley KOA over night as we traveled home. The CG is about 4 miles from I-81, while the road was newly paved and smooth, it is narrow and windy. The CG is quiet. The staff was great and the guided us to our site. The Pull-Thru was long enough for my 35' MH and Toad so I did not have to unhook. The site was low to the DS and rear, while I could auto-level, it did pull the DS outside rear wheel an inch off the ground. This KOA offers personal pan pizzas that are delivered to your RV. My wife ordered one and said it was very good. While the WiFi is free (as most campgrounds offer), free is not a perk if the bandwidth is so throttled that it is a struggle to just pull emails. The nightly rate of $48.84 (reflects my KOA discount but not taxes) seems a bit high for this area especially when the 'Free' WiFi basically was none functional. As I write this I am overnighting in a KOA near Charlotte and the WiFi is functional. Staff: Friendly and Helpful Inner Roads: Stone, not dusty Site No.: 60 Site: PT, stone, utilities conveniently located Site Level: Low in back and on driver's side. Power: 50a, 119-120v Water: 40 psi Sewer: No issues WiFi: Free, 5 bars, but NO Bandwidth. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Traveled in on small, narrow windy road. Do not do it in the dark. All in the woods. Gravel and very dusty. Would definitely not recommend for an overnight stay, or for any Class A motorhome. No paved roads. Nice people but would not stay again. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Staff was very nice at check-in. Narrow roads in park (as well as the road going to the park, from the interstate). Water pressure low, cable on select sites (not ours), no internet, pull-through site was barely long enough for our 31ft motor home with tow. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Nice campground. Long pull through with properly placed utilities. I didn't have to unhook the tow. Utilities good. Cable good. Decent space between sites, but a little dusty. The wifi signal was strong, but no internet. Bummer. The problem is getting here. A few miles on a narrow 2 lane road with no room to pull over if you meet another big rig. Because of the lack of wifi, the narrow road and the high price, I probably wouldn't stay again if it was only for one night. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here 4 times in the last two years during the season and off season. Access is good but the road to the campground is a bit windy and it's about 3 miles. but once there it's a great place to stay. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Keep in mind it's February and the park is pretty empty. Nice park, decently spaced for a KOA, lots of trees, easy to negotiate the roads and get into the sites. Abuts the national forest with a nice hiking trail if you are into such. Quiet. Bathrooms are pretty decent, clean, small, and a bit dated. Like most KOA's, it's overpriced. It's similar to a state park, the price should be more like one too. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Pull through site, fairly level but slightly higher in front making it more difficult to level. The staff was terrific, couldn't help more. The dog park was a little smaller than other KOA's we've been to, but it was certainly adeqate. The pool looked green, but it had been closed since Labor Day.

I would camp here again. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Our site was a long, level pull through with some shade. All roads are gravel as are the sites. Some sites could use some more gravel but overall not bad. Staff was helpful and friendly. Saw the chickens but they were not a problem. Utilities were good including the cable. Bathrooms and laundry were in good shape. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

No WiFi and no hot spot. Chickens were allowed to free range thru out campsites, so watch where you step, even at your own door. Paid $55 a night, felt like I was overcharged. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Pricey for what you get. $50 for a gravel back-in that isn't nearly level. It took 3, 2x6s under the front wheels to get the front end up enough to keep things from rolling off counters. When making reservations for 7 nights they required the total cost of the stay as a deposit. 3 mile road to the campground is a narrow two lane road with lots of tight turns making it less than big rig friendly. TV is analog so unless you have an old TV or converter (or a dish) the picture is grainy. Internet is spotty to non-existent and the staff position on the matter is basically "it either works or it doesn't" There is Poison Ivy growing near our site. Love the Shenandoah area but my experience at this campground has spoiled what was to be a very special vacation. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Called before arrival and inquired about the Internet. They said it was good, however, it never worked, even after I went to office and asked about it and they supposedly "reset" it. On plus side, shower area warmer than most, though shower head (unmovable) pointed straight out, got stuff outside of stall wet. We stayed here before but forgot that the 3-4 mile road off the interstate to the camp is fairly skinny for a big rig. We didn't have any problems but we were glad that we didn't meet another big rig. It was a fall weekend and sites were limited so we were glad to get it but...for no sewer and no cable TV, $50+ is high. We couldn't get satellite TV because of trees. There aren't many campgrounds if you want to visit JMU so have to compromise. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also will deliver pizza to your site, of which we didn't partake, but it's certainly a nice option after traveling all day. The space between the sites is nice and wide with a picnic table and a rock fired ring. WiFi is pitiful or worse and AT&T cell is minimal. Good electric, soft water with not great pressure. Would stay again out of necessity. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Nearest campground for big rig close to JMU. On weekends, there are usually some good flea markets and antique shops in New Market. Golf in Harrisonburg.

Park is nice; especially for families. Nice, but small pool, Mini golf course on property.... Good waking areas for dogs (leashed); however, we pretty much are on the run and then get back to rv, check emails from work, maybe a little TV and to bed. We were told this park has wi-fi (important for us), but not enough power to connect at all. We had a distant site the first night... Moved closer to office fit our promised site, still no WiFi, and this is likely part of the cost to stay at this park. On our second night, two of the center caps from our Hondas tires were stolen. Also, they need to bring in new rocks. It rained and we had to connect our pull behind in mud. What a mess. So, I reported it to the young girl upon leaving. She just said they have real problems getting WiFi with the mountains. I suggested that be included on their website for those campers who really need WiFi. She wasn't too concerned about the theft, but they aren't responsible. I decided to not even mention the rocks and mud. Still we loved the location and the shady sites. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.
