Price was a little higher than we like to spend, but it was the best deal near DC. Beautiful setting, lots of trees. Yes, you can hear the gun range but all is quiet when it closes. The hookups were on the wrong side, but we were able to cross connect without any problems. Not all sites are like that. No cable or Internet. Close to Metro station for our trips downtown. Every store you could need is located in Manassas only a few miles away. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We parked in one of the parking lots and unhooked to find the office and check in; parking at office is tight. The right hand turn into the park comes very quick after the 10 MPH turn off of Post Office road, DON'T miss it. Heck to turn around! The water park was a blast! Drive to the Vienna/Fairfax Metro terminal and take the train downtown, we went 4 days and that is not enough! God Bless the USA

This is a very large, pretty park, but the campground seems "old". It is difficult to find a level site....just about every site necessitates using wood for leveling. If there is heavy electric use (everyone using their a/cs, for instance ), the voltage really drops. Several times, our surge protector shut power off to our coach due to low voltage. There are lots of trees, which makes satellite reception difficult. It is also expensive, due to its proximity to Washington DC. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

This is a large community park just off I-66 about ½ hour west of Washington, DC. The park has huge open areas, picnic pavilions and a water park. The campground is wooded with nice sized site pads. The driveways are asphalt in good condition and the site pads are gravel. We had a large "pull along" site with 50 amp electric plus water. A dump station is available. The bathrooms are nice and super clean. We paid $44.76 per night. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

I so want to rate this park higher. It has so much potential-a beautiful large, private regional park with full hookups, in the center of a very metropolitan area with so much to see and do-the Manassas Battlefield National Park is just 5 minutes away! The park itself is at the end of the day a picnic area which is huge and very nice, but the campground is very private and quiet. There is a nice water park that is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day as well. The park also has a nice shooting center - some noise from that but not too annoying. However, whoever designed the hookups for the sites had obviously never even seen an RV! Some were where they should be, while others were on the wrong side, some way back in the corner of the large campsites, just very random and odd. Ours happened to be on the back side so our door and canopy opened up to the street. Otherwise, our site was awesome, large and private with a nice large yard and picnic area in back, we just had to ignore the hoses and hookups. Beautiful paved roads, great for biking and walking. Lots of nature trails, too. It was very expensive but there is really not much else in this area. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

So much history, even in the park! Be sure to check out Bull Run NMP and there's a lovely winery right next to the Battlefield, just a few minutes from the campground as well! (The Winery at Bull Run). Then drive into D.C. or take the metro and enjoy the free Smithsonians!

This was my second time using this park's facilities and I found them better this time than last. The full hookup sites are spacious and well thought out on the road loops, with the idea that campers don't want to look at passing traffic, with trailer doors to the inside of the loop and water/electric/sewer on the street side. It was a totally good experience for my Airstream group rally! We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

We love staying in national, state, and regional parks. We always look for them first because we love the outdoors. We were not disappointed with Bull Run. The sites were very wooded and huge. Even though we had neighbors we didn't feel like we had to be quiet in every moment so as not to disturb anyone. My boys loved running through the woods and acting out battles. My wife and I loved being able to take our dogs on long walks on the roads and enjoy the beauty around us.

Our site was not level and required a few blocks to get us leveled up but, in my opinion, that is to be expected at a park. We did think that the price was a little high but we would definitely stay here again simply for the beauty factor. The gun range did get a little annoying at times but we got used to it. The wireless signal was strong so we had no issues with our cellular wifi hotspot.

We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the tips that they gave us for traveling into DC. We found it close enough that we drove in on weekends but because of parking we took the metro system on weekdays.

We stayed here for the maximum of 14 days and still didn't get to do everything that we wanted too do. We will definitely be back to finish up our site seeing. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We went to the Pentagon 9-11 memorial one night after a long day in DC. The memorial is heart wrenching and beautiful at night. We got to talk with a security officer that was there during the attack and loved learning from him what really went on that day. Definitely do not miss this memorial!

This is a beautiful, large campground with large sites and lots of privacy. It's unusual to have full hookups at a county park, so that was a big plus. The RV pull-through sites in the full hookup area are along the side of the roads (I refer to them as "C-shaped" pull-throughs). This provides a lot of privacy and a large camping area which we love, but ours (#127) was very unlevel (sloped away from the road), and even though it's a pull-through we had to back out due to low branches in the front of the site. While the roads inside the campground are wide and paved, the very long residential roads (e.g. Bull Run Post Office Rd) you have to take to get there are narrow, winding, and uneven. Even though the campground is physically very close to I-66 and stores/restaurants, it takes a good 10+ minutes just to wind your way out of the campground and back to a main roads to get anywhere. The other big drawback for us was the park's outdoor shooting range, which was active every day (9am-8pm), especially on weekends (9am-5pm). Personally, we don't find the sound of nearby gunfire all day long to be a relaxing camping experience. Being a county park there were plenty of places to walk our dog, though we did find a couple of deer ticks after our walks (very common in Virginia). The campground and sites are heavily wooded, so in the summer you should have plenty of shade. In October it was a bit dark for our tastes. There aren't a lot of campground options in the DC suburbs, especially with full hookups, so while Bull Run is not our favorite in the area, we may return if needed (e.g. if we hit the 14 day limit at the other nearby county park). We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

This is the 2nd time we've stayed here because it's close to family. Both times we've said we will not return but next time we will definitely stay in a different park even though we'll have to drive longer so see family. The pull through sites are sideways, but the hookups are poorly lined up and not even, which makes pulling in difficult. Our site was not level. We had to use 2 pieces of wood to level and not have our tires off the ground. Sites are a little bit of gravel but mostly dirt. Water pressure was terrible. We couldn't pull through to leave because of the trees and side drop offs. We arrived just after noon and were charged a $5 early registration fee - registration starts at 1:00. Never had this happen before! No cable, no WiFi, no satellite, just noise from the gun range and airport. This was not a pleasant experience. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Be careful of GPS directions in this location. Thankful I called the office and asked about directions. She told us not to take Compton Rd. We rode it in the car later and it is horrible. We turned on Bull Run Post Office Rd off of Hwy 29 and it isn't any fun in a large RV but doable. Main problem is it's very narrow. Once you get into the park, the roads are fine. We loved the campground. Sites are private and shaded. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Level, narrow, winding roads to get to the park. Nice level, narrow interior roads. Trees were trimmed so we didn't hit any limbs. Many full-hookup sites are gravel pull-thrus and parallel to the road (like you're pulling off to the side of the road). Your front door will face the woods. We had a spacious shady site. Hookups were in the middle. No wifi or cable. No off leash dog park but plenty of space to walk dogs. There's a pool, waterpark, playground, trails, all great for the warmer months. Office staff were nice, helpful with directions and available during regular hours including weekends. We were there over the Christmas season during the Festival of Lights so all campers had to take a different route to the campsite after 5pm every single day. Otherwise, you'll get stuck in horrendous Festival traffic. The park's Christmas decorations are nice, though. We plan to come back next month and again next fall and winter to visit family. They gave me a Good Sam discount but I had to ask for it. This park also has a shooting range nearby and on weekends, the shooting starts at 7am. It's loud and constant all day long until sunset. If this bothers you, this isn't the park for you. There's a 14 day limit, then you have to be out for 4 days before you can stay another 14 days. During the holidays, this policy didn't seem to be followed. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

All the trees had me worried about getting into and out of this park in our 42' motorhome, but it was no problem because the trees were all trimmed up high enough not to bother our rig. Our site was roomy, shaded, and had woods nearly all around so more privacy than most campgrounds. The Shooting Center has been mentioned before, but bears repeating. We were away visiting relatives most of the time, but if we had been sitting outside we would've felt like we were in a war zone. Planes from Dulles flew overhead intermittently during the times we were actually in the campground. Every campground has its pluses and minuses--noise is the minus here but the up side is so good we'll stay here again for sure! We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park close to Shenandoah Valley and Washington, DC. Accessible via I66. Directions from Interstate are not particularly clear however a quick call to the park got us turned in the right direction. The Atlantis Waterpark is inside the park but separate from the campground. Sites are ample for large rigs. Most sites are parallel to the roadway. Sewer hook-ups are elevated higher than most dump valves. All sites are shaded, satellite is sketchy at best. Staff helpful & friendly. Call ahead for reservations as this is a popular park. Nice big sites with rustic feel, underneath Dulles Airport so the planes can be noisy. We had full hook-ups and they worked well. It is a long way off the major road, but the roads are good. Check is was easy, it is a nice State Park. Close to DC and would stay again. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Crowded when we got there. Managed to get a pull-thru, 50 amp electric, but no water and no sewer. It had rained a lot before we got there. There were puddles all over the place, but the sites had very good drainage and we had no problem. I really like this campground. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

This is a huge park well off the highway with areas for groups to enjoy day outings, a water park and a large RV Park. The road throughout the park is paved with the RV sites gravel. The pull-thru sites are like parallel parking on the side of the road so you want to park so that your patio side is away from the road. The sites have electric only, with a picnic table and a fire pit. They have a dump station with potable water at the entrance to the RV park. There is a Jungle Jim in the park for the kids. It is heavily wooded and there is a walking path so it is quite pleasant. The park is in the center of the famous Bull Run Battle Field of the Civil War and about 35 miles from DC. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.
