The "pull-thru" is really just a little loop so you end up literally being parallel to the road which is 3 feet from your trailer. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a heavily used community park. The road to get to the park is narrow and has an unusual tight 10-mph turn off of Bull Run Post Office Road. The sites are inconsistent as far as levelness and have unusual hook-up arrangements. At our site the electric hook-up was on the wrong side and in a very odd location relative to the actual parking area. Our site was listed as a pull-through, but it was really just a pull-off adjacent to the road with some leveling issues. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

Price was a little higher than we like to spend, but it was the best deal near DC. Beautiful setting, lots of trees. Yes, you can hear the gun range but all is quiet when it closes. The hookups were on the wrong side, but we were able to cross connect without any problems. Not all sites are like that. No cable or Internet. Close to Metro station for our trips downtown. Every store you could need is located in Manassas only a few miles away. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We parked in one of the parking lots and unhooked to find the office and check in; parking at office is tight. The right hand turn into the park comes very quick after the 10 MPH turn off of Post Office road, DON'T miss it. Heck to turn around! The water park was a blast! Drive to the Vienna/Fairfax Metro terminal and take the train downtown, we went 4 days and that is not enough! God Bless the USA

This is a very large, pretty park, but the campground seems "old". It is difficult to find a level site....just about every site necessitates using wood for leveling. If there is heavy electric use (everyone using their a/cs, for instance ), the voltage really drops. Several times, our surge protector shut power off to our coach due to low voltage. There are lots of trees, which makes satellite reception difficult. It is also expensive, due to its proximity to Washington DC. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

This county park in Northern Virginia right off of Route 66 is a great place to stay near Washington DC. It's a good size with many spots, picnic tables, and few short hiking trails. Everyone was friendly and the park is in good shape. The men's bathroom was clean but the women's bathroom had some drainage problems (a giant puddle). As others have said, there is a shooting range nearby that you can hear in the distance. It's not too bad, and we actually went to it. For $35, we took a class on how to use a shotgun and got to fire about 20 rounds at clay skeets. There were no programs in early May, but they do have special weekend events all summer long. The pool looks great for kids, but it doesn't open until Memorial Day weekend. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Cabin.

This regional park is an oasis in the middle of a massive suburban residential and commercial area. The park has lots of amenities, including a water park. The campground is very well maintained and quiet. The utilities on our site were placed awkwardly with hookups on the wrong side. We had to walk to the opposite side of our door to get to the picnic table and grass area AND walk over our electric and sewer hoses. Some sites are configured correctly for utilities. We had a problem with the water connection and the staff quickly resolved the problem. As many reviewers have stated, there aren't many parks near the Manassas/DC area. We will stay here again. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a large community park just off I-66 about ½ hour west of Washington, DC. The park has huge open areas, picnic pavilions and a water park. The campground is wooded with nice sized site pads. The driveways are asphalt in good condition and the site pads are gravel. We had a large "pull along" site with 50 amp electric plus water. A dump station is available. The bathrooms are nice and super clean. We paid $44.76 per night. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

A very nice campground except for ease of entry and exit. The sites are all parallel to the road however the site we were able to reserve was too tight for our fifth wheel and caused us to have to back in with difficulty. Having said that, once we were in the site it was a pleasant stay for 6 days. This is pretty much a city park and there is much activity for families but getting into and out of the park is a 3 mile, slow drive to highway. We stayed here in order to see DC every day. The train was 13 away at the Vienna station but the traffic wasn't bad at the times we went. Management of the park is exceptional and all utilities worked well but would probably not stay again due to the drive in and out. The next closest parkis Prince Williams but you have to drive almost to I495 before you get to the train station. We found traffic was horrendous the closer you get to downtown. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is a hidden gem. We would never have expected to find a place like this in the DC metro area. It is a public/regional park that includes a huge day-use area, a water park, a shooting range, an events center, and a campground. Roads are paved, sites are gravel. A mix of back in and pull-through sites. The pull-throughs are loop sites. Sites have picnic tables, fire ring (wood available at campground store) and all utilities except cable. Utilities were modern and worked well. Some are in funny places related to the rest of the site. All sites back into or face into wooded area with squirrels, foxes, and deer. The shooting range is nearby and active during the day, but is done by nightfall. You are under the approaches for Dulles Airport, but airplane noise was minimal. No cable, satellite is unlikely due to trees, but there are a ton of over the air channels available in the DC area. Staff were friendly. Park was quiet and clean. We will definitely return here on our next visit to the DC area. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Especially coming from the south, GPS will try to bring you in on Rt 28 and Compton Road. DO NOT GO THAT WAY. Look at a map and figure out how to make your entry on Bull Run Post Office Road off of US 29.

I so want to rate this park higher. It has so much potential-a beautiful large, private regional park with full hookups, in the center of a very metropolitan area with so much to see and do-the Manassas Battlefield National Park is just 5 minutes away! The park itself is at the end of the day a picnic area which is huge and very nice, but the campground is very private and quiet. There is a nice water park that is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day as well. The park also has a nice shooting center - some noise from that but not too annoying. However, whoever designed the hookups for the sites had obviously never even seen an RV! Some were where they should be, while others were on the wrong side, some way back in the corner of the large campsites, just very random and odd. Ours happened to be on the back side so our door and canopy opened up to the street. Otherwise, our site was awesome, large and private with a nice large yard and picnic area in back, we just had to ignore the hoses and hookups. Beautiful paved roads, great for biking and walking. Lots of nature trails, too. It was very expensive but there is really not much else in this area. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

So much history, even in the park! Be sure to check out Bull Run NMP and there's a lovely winery right next to the Battlefield, just a few minutes from the campground as well! (The Winery at Bull Run). Then drive into D.C. or take the metro and enjoy the free Smithsonians!

We love staying in national, state, and regional parks. We always look for them first because we love the outdoors. We were not disappointed with Bull Run. The sites were very wooded and huge. Even though we had neighbors we didn't feel like we had to be quiet in every moment so as not to disturb anyone. My boys loved running through the woods and acting out battles. My wife and I loved being able to take our dogs on long walks on the roads and enjoy the beauty around us.

Our site was not level and required a few blocks to get us leveled up but, in my opinion, that is to be expected at a park. We did think that the price was a little high but we would definitely stay here again simply for the beauty factor. The gun range did get a little annoying at times but we got used to it. The wireless signal was strong so we had no issues with our cellular wifi hotspot.

We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the tips that they gave us for traveling into DC. We found it close enough that we drove in on weekends but because of parking we took the metro system on weekdays.

We stayed here for the maximum of 14 days and still didn't get to do everything that we wanted too do. We will definitely be back to finish up our site seeing. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

We went to the Pentagon 9-11 memorial one night after a long day in DC. The memorial is heart wrenching and beautiful at night. We got to talk with a security officer that was there during the attack and loved learning from him what really went on that day. Definitely do not miss this memorial!

This is a beautiful, large campground with large sites and lots of privacy. It's unusual to have full hookups at a county park, so that was a big plus. The RV pull-through sites in the full hookup area are along the side of the roads (I refer to them as "C-shaped" pull-throughs). This provides a lot of privacy and a large camping area which we love, but ours (#127) was very unlevel (sloped away from the road), and even though it's a pull-through we had to back out due to low branches in the front of the site. While the roads inside the campground are wide and paved, the very long residential roads (e.g. Bull Run Post Office Rd) you have to take to get there are narrow, winding, and uneven. Even though the campground is physically very close to I-66 and stores/restaurants, it takes a good 10+ minutes just to wind your way out of the campground and back to a main roads to get anywhere. The other big drawback for us was the park's outdoor shooting range, which was active every day (9am-8pm), especially on weekends (9am-5pm). Personally, we don't find the sound of nearby gunfire all day long to be a relaxing camping experience. Being a county park there were plenty of places to walk our dog, though we did find a couple of deer ticks after our walks (very common in Virginia). The campground and sites are heavily wooded, so in the summer you should have plenty of shade. In October it was a bit dark for our tastes. There aren't a lot of campground options in the DC suburbs, especially with full hookups, so while Bull Run is not our favorite in the area, we may return if needed (e.g. if we hit the 14 day limit at the other nearby county park). We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Be careful of GPS directions in this location. Thankful I called the office and asked about directions. She told us not to take Compton Rd. We rode it in the car later and it is horrible. We turned on Bull Run Post Office Rd off of Hwy 29 and it isn't any fun in a large RV but doable. Main problem is it's very narrow. Once you get into the park, the roads are fine. We loved the campground. Sites are private and shaded. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

This park is well maintained. Beautiful in spring. Our site had no water or sewer hook ups, which we were a little apprehensive about upon booking. They have a potable water and dump station at the entrance of the campground, so it worked out perfectly for our 2 night stay. Sites are pull off, meaning that your door will face the woods. We really enjoyed this set up. The sites were adequately spaced, but having the pull off set up made it feel extremely spacious and private. Again, we love this configuration. We camped on Memorial Day weekend, so the park was completely full but it was still quiet and pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful during check in/out process. We found the roads easy to maneuver our 36'. No issues there for us. We did hit the water park for a few hours and our 4 year old had a blast! It was smaller than I originally expected, but it was an amazing value with the camping discount (only $4 entrance fee for the water park). Kids also enjoyed the playground. We didn't use the bathrooms or showers, so can't speak to that. Overall, great weekend retreat if you prefer a campground close to nature. We would probably stay longer next time if we were able to get a full hook up site. We would gladly camp here again. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed here a few times and enjoy it primarily because of the spacing and relative privacy of the sites. It can take an hour with traffic, but we use Bull Run as a base for D.C. sightseeing. We have never stayed here when the park was full, and most recently in April 2015 it was almost empty, except every site on the full-hookup loop was occupied so we had an electric-only site and used the dump/fill station at the front of the park. Several of the sites were closed for reconstruction at this time. As others have mentioned, the hook-up pedestals are not in uniform locations but we have never been stuck needing additional cords/hoses than what we had already. The rental cabins are a recent addition and look brand new. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.
