This is an interesting park. On weekends in the fall, it fill up with folks who go to the Kings Dominion Amusement Park. Then during the week the park is nearly deserted. We used a site with 30 amp and no sewer hookup. However sites with these facilities are available. The full-service sites are on concert pads. They are arranged head to toe, so that the electrical connection can be used by two RV's. The park is well maintained. The restrooms are clean and the water is nice and hot for showers. The staff is pleasant and very helpful. We would stay here again, although we thought the park was a bit pricey. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

We stopped here during a hurricane evacuation from Virginia Beach. The park was almost empty. So, it was very quiet. The weather was nice so we stayed 2 nights. Bring extra long connections. The hookups are in the center. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

The park was easily accessible off of I-95. We only stayed overnight on our way to North Carolina. Site was paved, but not long enough to stay hooked up. Must mention that when we connected to the water hookup, all you could smell in the RV was a distinct sulfur smell. We used deodorant in all the drains and the smell faded after about an hour. But it gave us second thoughts about ingesting the water. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a well maintained campground with a wide variety of sites to choose from; from open sunny spots to woods with plenty of shade. Bathrooms were well maintained and garbage was picked up daily at the camp sites by staff. Of course, being so close to King's Dominion, that is the main attraction, since they run a free shuttle to the park daily as an added bonus. Camp store was well stocked for most emergencies. Power was stable with no issues and water pressure is very good -make sure you use a pressure regulator. The only down side we had at our site was that that once you are unhooked from your camper there is very limited space to park a tow vehicle. We would stay there again. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access from I-95. Pool wasn't open but looked nice. Adequate spaces in most areas. Quiet campground with lots of trees, driving paths asphalt and wide. Great location if going to the Kings Dominion Park, or other tourist sites in area. Would recommend this park! We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

The main attraction to this campground is nearby Kings Dominion amusement park. Sites are smallish and very close together. We had a very long MH+trailer and could only fit on a couple of sites. Once our car was unloaded we had nowhere to park it. Staff was very helpful in helping us get on a site large enough for us. Section we were in had few trees so satellite reception was good. Other sections are heavily treed. WiFi worked ok except during mid evening. After all the travelers left in the morning speed was excellent. Dog park was small and not convenient to many of the sites. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

The lady who checked us in on 20 Nov (told i cant say her name) is a huge asset to this park. She goes out of her way to help folks get settled in and is available for questions. Cheery personality. The park itself is nice with well kept hookups and grounds. The major downside is many of the sites are VERY close together. We were where the cement pads are and there was barely any room between site. We moved when we checked in because we could not open our slide because of how close the other rig was. We liked the park but it was Thanksgiving week and there were never more than about 12 rigs. I give it a 9 for our stay. I doubt that I would stay there when Kings Dominion was open - has to be a zoo. The wifi was outstanding the entire week. But, there were not many rigs so maybe not a good test. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

The town of Ashland is neat. Trains go right through town and there are a lot of them. The model train store is interesting if you're a train person.

We stayed here before this CG was a KOA. We had a pull through on a concrete pad and was very satisfied. We were told the water pressure was very high but we have an adjustable water regulator and did not have any problems. Although the CG was almost empty, the cable was so grainy we used the antenna. Kings Dominion was closed so we did not have any park noise. There is a railroad near by with a little train noise on two occasions. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

Called while on a trip for an overnight stay. After telling the woman 3 times what we wanted, she responded with 'Is that an RV or something?' At that point we should have known we were in trouble. We finally were assured we would have a pull through, full hook up site for our motorhome. Arrived at the park to find out that the site was not a pull thru, OK, not insurmountable. We also find that the electric and water hook-ups are in between sites on the passenger side of the coach, sewer is on the driver side as expected. It took an extension cord, extra hose and a treck through the mud to connect water and electric, with the neighbors water hook up spraying water on the electric pole that we shared. People around us were very friendly, and told us about the Christian music festival that was underway. Music was very loud, but ended at a reasonable hour. We finally fell asleep around 11, only to find out that the campground is right next to train tracks - trains that blew their whistle at 5 am and 6 am.... We finally got just got up and back on the road. Park was clean, people were nice, location - never again. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here both on our way to NY and on our way home. The first site had no sewer but the dump station was right there and not a problem. Fellow campers where very respectful and everyone quieted down after 11:00 PM. Although many families had children, we are seniors, we enjoyed the experience. Our second site was in a full hookup site. Everything looks new and well kept. The site was level and had was easy to find, although there wasn't a lot of room for our tow vehicle. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Checked in at the Store, the people who worked there were very nice. The Store/lodge was very neat. It had cornhole, a couple of TV's playing Snoopie cartoons. The only problem was there were a lot of standing water in the campground. We have had a lot of rain lately. It was fine, but if it was hot, I'm sure it would have been an mosquito playground. Our pad was awesome, good clean place, great new playground and shuttle to Kings Dominion. Bath Houses were immaculate. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

New KOA. We were not advised on phone that campground was not officially open. Arrived at 5 pm - office closed at 4. Told office would be open. Found reservation form in container - no staff there at first to help find site. Finally, a very helpful security person passed by and helped us to our back-in site-minimal gravel, rest dirt, in process of grading - no pad, although we saw pads across campground. S/w/cable hookups ok. Checked out, but didn't use very clean, new bathroom. If only staff on our telephone reservation had said park was not officially open and back-in 30A sites were gravel - no pad, and site was being graded, we would have opted for an upgrade. The security person was the best part of a not so great visit! We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed here while visiting the amusement park on the way back from Myrtle Beach. Wife, 2 girls (8 and 13), and the dog.

Good check in experience: very welcoming and helpful. They did send us down the entry road the wrong way, however so we had to work our way around so we could approach our site correctly to back in. Had to go back to ask for a branch to be cut to accommodate my rig. They sent someone over right away and we took care of it. Very responsive.

Nice grounds. Lots of trees, but also sites without. Good roads. Odd set-up at some sites where rigs are facing each other: so you are kind of camping with your neighbors. Had not seen that before. Some hookups on the opposite side of the camper. Not sure if we would have reached. Had not heard anything negative about it however. Rained hard while we were here at night. Some sites have poor drainage and water was there for quite a while. Others drained better. Ours was OKish, the one next to ours at the end was really bad.

Not many people here during the week, weekends busier. Wifi was excellent. Bathrooms/showers very nice. There is really only one location, so if the park was full (and had a lot of tenters), I would think this would be a challenge with capacity. We did not have that issue.

Transportation supplied to the park if desired. We did not use since I had to go back/forth numerous times for our dog.

Overall a nice campground. Good facilities. Helpful staff. Perfect for a few days to head to the park. Did not explore surrounding area much. Did not use the pool but one is here. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.
