Stopped for the night. We called before making reservations to confirm 38' MH would be OK. The ranger said no problem, they have many pull thru sites that will accommodate. Reservation was not site specific, so when we showed up, park was very crowded and we got nervous about finding a site that would fit us with toad attached. We stayed in loop D, water/electric, 30 amp. We found a pull through that worked, roads very tight within park, but doable with toad attached. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Gate is covered 24 hours a day 7 days a week. 20$ per night does not include water or electricity. Bathrooms were very clean. Showers were excellent with individual shower stalls w/doors. Slept in a hammock with plenty of trees. August Host was very nice. Situated on a beautiful lake with marina access. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Tent.

Stayed overnight on the way to and from Nashville. Park appeared to be very well maintained and clean. After 6 hours of driving, the park provided a welcome rest. We didn't take advantage of the trails or beach. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great campground with easy interstate access for our road trip. It was nice to see an actual person in the guard shack at night, rather than messing with registration envelopes. We stayed on the B loop without hookups. You don't get to choose your specific site until you get to the park, but apparently that is changing in March 2018. Very quiet at night and no flooding problems despite persistent rain. Bathrooms were a little dated but kept clean. Nice to have a dish sink and grey water dump at the bathhouse. Individual shower rooms had a few bugs but the water was nice and hot. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Really nice State Park in Southwestern Virginia. Even with a reservation you choose your own site and all of them - on the Water/Elec "D" loop anyway - are very spacious, level, well kept and private. There are a number of nice back in sites and plenty of huge pull-throughs.

We were not here 5 mins before the camphost came over and welcomed us.

Lots of trees, but our rooftop SAT still worked and there is both Verizon and ATT cell/broadband service. No wifi anywhere, however.

The bathrooms are old, but pleasant places that are spotless and kind of "summer campy" in look.

We stayed only for the night so we don't know what the lake or the rest of the park looks like. But this park just a couple of miles off of I-81 is a gem. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

D loop offers electric and water hook up but not sewer. Sites are mostly pull through and spacious. Gravel covers the majority of the site with grass around the edges. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice campground on a beautiful lake--and it's very convenient to the highway. We were in section D with water and electric--no sewer. We had a large, level, gravel, back-in site with plenty of shade. (Some of the trees needed trimming.) There is no wifi or cable TV. The restrooms are old, but clean. We definitely plan to return! We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Wow. Fabulous. Sites are huge, trees, wide, pea gravel with borders, Level. Lantern hangers, friendly people. The lake is long and interesting, beach for swimming, fishing, boat rentals. Rented a pontoon boat for the day, good price and excellent service. Highly recommend. Shower free, clean and hot water. Cabins available are resort like, would be a great place for a large family reunion. WiFi and cell spotty but come in enough to make communication very doable. Loved this place. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great little state park with nice walking trails. The pull through sites were a little short for a large fifth wheel. Be prepared to work a little to fit in the close sites. The park is clean and well kept. Pretty country spot. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice park way back in the woods. When we checked in at the gate, they told us to just "find a campsite with no tag on it." Unfortunately, EVERY campsite had a tag. We were about to give up when one of the campers told us the folks whose tag was still there had left. They just couldn't be bothered to take down their tag. The park staff needs to keep an eye on this.

Being a state park, it had no sewer or cable. OTA reception was fine, so no problem there.

No Wi-Fi either, so we just used our hotspot.

There were a LOT of tent campers, but quiet hours were observed.

We would probably camp here again. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

The park is nicely developed. I can not comment on how it would be during the busy season as only 6 units were there when we stayed. There are short paved bike trails that run from the campground to the lake and along the lake so you don't have to ride on the roads. No wifi but our AT&T service was o.k. outside of the trailer. As it is just a few minutes from I-81 we would stay here again when traveling through the area. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Claytor Lake State Park is a lovely, well maintained state park along a mountain lake. The RV campground is essentially a large gravel field with a few trees and campsites in rows of diagonal pull through sites. Our site was level and the electricity was convenient. They have water, but it had not been turned yet on when we were there March 6. They were very upfront about the water being turned off for the winter both on-line and over the phone. We had snow the night we were there, so I guess they have a good reason for turning off the water at the sites. The rest rooms were immaculate and heated. There are dirt and paved paths down to the boat and swimming areas along the lake. A very pretty spot. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed 2 nights in Campground D which has electric & water, some pull-through sites & a dump station. We were in a Class B RV, but larger units didn't seem to have any problem maneuvering or setting up; sites were level, shaded, mostly gravel, and pull-through sites were about 33 feet wide. Bathrooms and showers were fine, if not quite as roomy as some other Virginia State Parks. A very nice trail system is connected to campground, and rental boats are available at the marina. There is also a Wi-Fi Hotspot at the Conference Center next to the marina. AT&T cell service was good from the campground, too. Like many Virginia State Parks, there are also camping cabins and lodges available for rent. Firewood was $5 a bundle. We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Motorhome.
