Really nice CG. Like all KOA's they are overpriced. The owner was really nice in helping me get another reservation at a different KOA that was not answering there phone. The biggest complaint was the mosquitoes. Even this late in the season there were a lot. Could not enjoy sitting outside. Would not stay again because of that. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

As KOA's go, this one is relatively small and quiet. Located about 10 miles south of Fredericksburg, which itself is 40 miles each way from Washington DC and Richmond. The park is mostly wooded, with the majority of the sites in heavy shade. The main roads are paved, but the sites are gravel and grass. I had asked for a satellite friendly site and our pull thru site (#93) was located in the middle of the park next to the pond, with no one behind us. Very nice view out the back window. Utilities are quite far from the pad and I stretched every bit of 20' of sewer hose to reach the drain. Wifi is pretty good, even with a full park. Park has only one bathhouse, located at the main office and quite a walk from the back forty. Medium sized pool with only one table and a few chairs which were crowded on the holiday weekend. Small playground and a few riding toys for the kids. Medium sized pond on site that allows fishing and saw a couple of large fish caught. Nice enough park but over priced. Good location for day trips. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Fredericksburg is quaint and historic tracing its lineage to colonial times with George Washington growing up across the Rappahannock river and his mother, Mary, living in town in her later years. Many civil war battles were fought in and around the town, including Chancellorsville, Wilderness and Spotsylvania Courthouse.

We had a reservation for a FHU pull through site for an overnight stay. Check in went smoothly and we were given an escort to our site. Unfortunately, someone was already parked on the site the young woman was told to bring us to. We waited while she contacted the office. The camper that was there was locked up and the tow dolly was empty...car gone. The office said they had no idea who was on the site and therefore, had no way of contacting them. I find this bizarre. We were attempting to check in and get on this reserved site at 3:00 in the afternoon. Are you telling me that not one employee noticed this supposedly unregistered vehicle on a site in their park all day? We were told the only other FHU 50 amp site available was a back in. Fine, we'll take it. The site was long enough for our 40 foot coach, but not for our tow car, which I had to park on an adjacent empty site. We were having some trouble leveling the coach....no wonder, the rear jacks and wood supports we use had sunk about a foot into the ground. Along with straws, plastic lids, wrappers, and the other trash on the site were some pieces of wood. We were able to pull the coach forward and utilize the trash planks to help keep the rear jacks from sinking again. It wasn't until we pulled into this park that I remembered staying here before...on that visit we had issues with the power hook up. It is unfortunate that there isn't much competition nearby, perhaps that would keep the owners/management a little more on their game. I will say that the young woman who was escorting us to our site was extremely apologetic about the situation and was very polite. The pool was in use and looked clean. The store had a lot of gift items, a few grocery items and some camping/RV supplies. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Motorhome.

We reserved an overnight stop weeks ago, with full hookups, for our 40' MH with 4 slides. We were coming in after a week at a state park with only electric, thus needed to tend to tanks. We left that campground with enough time to roll into this one around 4, so that we could enjoy our evening. Our sire, #100, was so narrow that our curbside slide was about 2' from the neighboring sites sewer. It was so narrow we couldn't even site outside in chairs, there was simply no room. We paid the same price as others camping, and feel this narrow site should only be used in desperation of the campground is full. We spent the night indoors, something we rarely do when camping. The campground is pretty, but this bargain basement site wasn't worth the full price charged. Overnighters or not, no one should be given this site. I've enclosed a picture of outside our door. Do not give this site to people claiming "it's the most requested site". Even if a camper is in for one night, they should be given the same quality/size site as others for the price. If you must use this site is should be as a last resort and extremely discounted. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Motorhome.

Great shade trees, spacious lots; friendly, helpful staff, solid 50 Amp service, WiFi, dog friendly but good grief, the place is covered in goose @*&!#. We picked up after our dogs but wondered why. Got goose crap on the shoes, hose, entrance mat. I think the campground should consider having a small crew pick-up daily. Otherwise, good location, easy off Interstate 95 and very nice country ambiance. Beautiful ducks and geese and plenty of goose poop to go around. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground was small and quiet, which is what we enjoy. Came here because it was close to home for our first excursion in our new RV. The entire grounds were very clean, staff was constantly riding around checking all areas. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have added a food truck that serves pizza, dogs, etc in the evenings and breakfast in the morning. Nice camp store for any basic necessities you may have forgotten. We will surely return. Only 6 or 7 miles away from Dominion Raceway and Camping World to the south and about the same to the Massaponax area to the north which has just about any kind of restaurant or store you would need.

Park nice and clean, fairly spacious sites, especially for a KOA, many Big Rig friendly sites. Pool very clean, only downside was the large flock of Canada Geese that would leave their calling cards throughout the campground. Spoke with manager who is equally frustrated as the geese are protected in Virginia. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Motorhome.

Good value at $45.00. Lots of room to het our 41' 5th wheel in and out. Staff friendly. They have a small store, a food truck open at certain times, a small lake which we were camped on. The road in the park is a little bumpy with potholes, just take your time. We would stay here again if in the area. The road leading off the highway is about 2 miles and very narrow. I would've given higher marks if the interior roads were better. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

To visit DC, you can take amtrak but at 6AM, or drive about 1.3 hour to get on the subway which we did. We took the Old Trolley Tour company in DC, we have found them to be the best

Very nice park. Loved the trees. Staff very friendly and helpful. Long, level site. Easy in and out. 607, the road others are complaining about, is no big deal. There's little traffic on it and we went side by side with a school bus and had plenty of room. Looking forward to staying here in the fall. Staff is great. They work hard to keep the campground neat and clean. Trash is picked up very promptly! WII FI worked pretty good. Verizon service is very spotty even with our extender. Most sites are long but you have to do a little jockeying to find the sweet spot. Overall, quiet but you are definely aware of the nearby trains. There is also a race track a few miles away, and when it is used the engine noise is apparent. We only heard them a couple of times. As others mentioned, the road leading here is narrow and winding so take your time. It is pricey to stay here but campgrounds are very limited in the area. As others have said the campground is a little out of the way. The road is narrow but we did not have a problem with our 37 ft 5th wheel. The site we had was gravel and was sort of dipped down below ground level. We did not have rain but I could see that mud would have been pretty bad. The new gravel was loose and I had to use 4 wheel drive to pull the camper out. The fire ring could use some improvement, it was only pavers layed on the ground. It's early in the season and they were doing a lot of work to get ready. It looks like a nice park and we would stay again. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We needed a nice place to stay during a trip south on I-95, and with not many options, this seemed to have the best reviews. It was OK, but not great for an overnighter. It's a 10-minute drive from I-95, and the road to the campground is 2+ miles of very narrow, hilly, winding country road... a couple times we were sure we would either scrape against oncoming vehicles or drop our right wheels off onto the shoulder/ditch. The road is too just narrow for today's big rigs. We had one bar of Verizon but were not able to get any data to work, and one bar of AT&T (4G) which worked intermittently. The campground WiFi worked decently well, but it's worth noting the campground was 3/4 empty when we were there. It's a very rustic campground with gravel roads and sites. Sites are typical KOA size... not especially large, but not right on top of each other. Check-in was very friendly and efficient, and the camp store was larger than usual. While the campground itself was nice, in the future we will likely look elsewhere due to the narrow access road and lack of cell signal here. We camped at Fredericksburg / Washington DC South KOA in a Motorhome.
