Trees BADLY need trimming on the road to the entry gate and on the road in front of the Section C bath house - much scraping. Was told I couldn't park in areas marked for use by band members only, and EVERY vacant spot in Section C was so marked. They take your membership card to ensure you return to report your site selection, then give you the usual receipt, newsletter, etc. Selected a nice 30 Amp site and went back to the guard shack to report our site selection. The newsletter said that the "reserved" signs were all marked with the first date the site had to be vacated. Turns out that the bluegrass festival wouldn't be held for another 6 days, and we could have stayed at any of the "reserved" sites for our one night stay. The gate attendant apologized profusely, but we were already set up and decided not to move. This could be a great park, but they need to replace the toilet stalls, change out toilets with ones that don't require you to hold down the handle throughout the flush, they need to trim the danged trees, and they need to train their gate people (especially regarding special events). We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Motorhome.

Overall decent campground . Sites hard to find as most are taken by seasonal people. Extra charge for 50 amp service. Did enjoy the adult only pool except for the volleyball game that takes it over everyday from 1-3 Absolutely no antenna reception ! Pay cable would be a huge benefit We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Travel Trailer.

One of the nicer Thousand Trails parks but like the rest it needs improvement starting with 50 amp service to all sites. Rate reflects $3 daily 50 amp fee. Too many permanent sites, beginning to look more like old trailer park, especially in Section E. It is difficult to get satellite friendly sites, especially in large Class A but we got one. Park is full on weekends with local zone pass holders. Lots of kids and fortunately there is an adult only pool, adult lounge and spa. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Motorhome.

The only draw back is location, 13 miles either direction to a grocery. On the Piankatank River, fishing/crabbing, watercraft. Close to Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown.

The $3.00 reflects the cost for 50 Amp service. The sites are first come, first serve, but we did not have a problem finding a nice site to stay in. We enjoyed the Sunday morning breakfast offered, as well as the amenity of a separate adult pool from the family pool. We rented kayaks while here and toured about on an interior lake to the park. The laundry facilities were quite nice here with 7 washers and 8 dryers. Several annuals within the park and golf carts seemed to be the preferred method of transportation throughout the grounds. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Motorhome.

Yorktown is very nearby and a wonderful town and battlefield to visit! We also visited Fort Eustis while here. Both were within an hour (or less) from the RV Park. Many friendly residents and other visitors to the park.

This is a "first come - first choose" RV park. With 75%+ of spaces having park trailers or looking like permanent sites, the choices to find a spot aren't good. Were told there were pull-throughs, but not really accurate. Person behind the desk, while very nice, knew nothing about what was going on. You go out, find a site, park, then tell them what site you are on. Meanwhile, the next person coming in is looking at the same site you just occupied. Really messy. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Motorhome.

Arrived on Good Friday and knew the campground would be crowded and site selection sparse but did not count on over 25 sites that were not in service either because of a maintenance issue or being held for the possibility of being used as a seasonal site, looks like Encore and Thousand Trails wants to fill their parks with annual site holders. Yes there were sites available but in most parks more and more sites are annual and the worst sites are left for the transit folks. It's going to be hard to sell memberships with less sites available. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

The rate reflects the Thousand Trails club price, $3 daily fee plus $3 per day for 50 amp. Not all TT parks charge the 50 amp fee, so it frustrates me when we do have to pay. Typical TT park that is way off of the beaten path and I hate the narrow winding roads we travel to get to nearly every park. We did have a nice, level, and shady site fairly close to the swimming pool. They re-opened the adult swimming pool and it was nice, but the people were not. Loud, obnoxious, rude people in the pool so we did not stay. That is not the fault of the park, just our luck for the day. Plenty of space to ride bikes, walk, jog, and enjoy the lake. Seemed to have lots of activities for people of all ages. If I was in the area, I would return. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Motorhome.

Before I talk about the campground, I want to say a word about the ice cream in the store: GREAT. What a deal - $2.70 will buy you what they call 1 scoop but which I would call 2 1/2 scoops and - you can get two flavors in this '1' scoop. Now, about the campground, the sites are large, level (where are were) and grassy with a picnic table and a fire pit. We backed into the woods so it was fairly private. The sites are gravel. There are actually some nice trails around the park that I'm sure not many take. We prefer the campground atmosphere of TT to a manicured resort and this fit the bill. It is about 45 minutes to Yorktown, Jamestown, and Williamsburg. It is also about 55 minutes from Richmond. We enjoyed breakfast at Olivia's in the Village in Gloucester. l would most definitely camp here again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Motorhome.

The rate reflects TT membership. The sites are nice and level and the staff is friendly. Some power fluctuations and water pressure was good. Staff worked hard when we were there to keep up with work caused by the weather and did a good job keeping the place looking good. Wi-Fi in the sites is nonexistent--had to go to the clubhouse and even there was slow. Interior roads are easily traversed with car and big rig. We would stay here again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Motorhome.

Rate is based on TT membership. What a nice campground. 2 new pools, indoor hot tub, new pickleball court. The sites and grounds are really well maintained. Half the roads are dirt and fires are permitted. Best ice cream at the cg store. We will stay here again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Motorhome.

Rate is a member rate. Without a doubt, the biggest draw here is the Piankatank River which borders the campground to the north. The park’s marina is especially busy on weekends. There are two nice pools plus a big sauna. There’s also a challenging mini-golf course. The tennis courts have been pretty much taken over by “Pickleball” players. This game is a cross between ping-pong and tennis and is way more active and challenging than you might think. The sites are pretty level and provide a reasonable amount of space. If you want to have a view of the river during the busy summer season you’ll have to arrive mid-week. Also, there are a lot of seasonal residents here, but they seem to like E-loop which is across the lake from the rest of the campground. A minor negative is that the campground is a long way out in the country. The nearest Walmart is 15 miles to the south and the biggest local draw, Colonial Williamsburg, is around 40 miles distant. Then again, for most people, this is the destination rather than a place to stay while visiting the area. Be sure to visit the camp store and get an ice cream. Warning: you only want one “scoop.” The serving is huge and two of you might just want to split a single scoop! We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed this park thoroughly. Large sites on the river, very level with gravel. Hookups were arranged sensibly. Really nice lake, and plenty of boating access. Very quiet and nice neighbors. Camp store is only open weekends. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Travel Trailer.

Great variety in types of sites. From secluded woodsy getaway sites to clusters of long-term neighborhoods, variety abounds. Verizon Wireless coverage is good, but only 3G. Good camp store. Only negative is that the toilets serving B and C section don't flush well, and require two cycles to get the job done. They may be early-version low water devices, or legacy fixtures that have been converted to low consumption units. Regardless, they all need replacing. This caused a Sunday morning surprise as all fixtures were unusable due to leftovers from previous patrons. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Travel Trailer.
