This is a typical Virginia State Park. The park is clean and well maintained. It is not, however, geared toward larger RV's. Most sites could handle up to a 30 foot rig. There are 2 small lakes with swimming and small boats. My only complaint was the dump station backed up when I dumped my holding tanks. I could only open my black water valve half way in order to prevent the sewage from backing out of the drain. We camped at Twin Lakes State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The closest town of any size is Farmville, VA which is about 25 minutes away but does have a nice downtown area.

First time at Twin Lakes State Park. Check in was nice, go pick your site and let them know the number. It's slightly annoying, though, how the check in procedures vary from state park, to state park. This one wanted both vehicles license plate numbers, and one of the vehicles was not there yet. Just was at First Landing SP, and they could care less. Anyhoo.. This campground is very much suited to trailers, as the sites are very well maintained gravel. Very tight, though, so watch out if you are on the larger scale. We did have a tent, and choose E/W, so it was a bit difficult with the tent stakes and the gravel, but there is a separate tent area if you want. Sites were a decent size, but seemed close together with no foliage between. Bath house was probably the cleanest I have ever seen, maybe better than Disney. The beach sand area was raked and and cleaned nightly. There is a seasonal concessions, again clean and friendly. Paddle boats and canoes for rent. All in all, a very enjoyable three days. If we are in the area again, we'll be back! We camped at Twin Lakes State Park in a Tent.

Agree with previous posts, This is a very tight campground with only a few big rig sites, I would say only 4 can fit 35 and larger. Site 26 is the biggest and has a view of the lake. The dump station is in a strange place, you have to circle around to get to it, but I was able to swing wide enough to make the turn. Some of the sites are only big enough for a tent and 1 vehicle. All in all this is a very nice campground, nice and quiet. We camped at Twin Lakes State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a small but good State Park Campground. It is tight, but with care a good driver will be able to get around. The park has designated "Big Rig" sites. The sites are level gravel and it very good condition. We used site 26 for our 37 foot 5th wheel. Got in with no problem. The facilities are good and the recreation opportunities are great. They have a nice beach and lots of hiking trails. We camped at Twin Lakes State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Another nice Virginia state park. The roads can be rather tight to negotiate with anything larger that a 30' unit. The Reserve America website actually states that all but 3 of the sites have a 30' length restriction, but there are a few that you could squeeze into if you are adept at backing up. They do have 3 pull thrus for units up to 36', but they go quick. One thing I didn't like about the park was that most or all of the back-in sites had you backing up to your blind (passenger)side - impossible in the dark without help. The area was nice and while the beach/swimming area had not been cleaned up yet for the season, it looked like it would be great in season. We camped at Twin Lakes State Park in a Travel Trailer.

A great State Park. Two lakes with boating, swimming, and fishing. We camped on Memorial Day Weekend 2005 and there were near-continuous activities, demonstrations, and tours. The layout of the campground was a little tight for our 30' trailer, bigger rigs might want to beware. They have two sites designated for units 30' and over. This park was very well patrolled and staffed. Everything was kept clean and quiet. We camped at Twin Lakes State Park in a Travel Trailer.
