We arrived at Misty Mountain on a Wednesday, and the resort was not full. We checked in and were quickly directed to our back-in spot (Site 34, right on the creek in lower camp area). Our site had electricity, water and cable. Some sites do offer a full-hook up, but they are not on the creek. There are also tent sites and cabins available throughout the property. A dump station is also on the premises. This is a very family-friendly campsite! Tons of amenities parents and kids will love including a pool, a playground, a blow up trampoline area, corn hole, beach volleyball, a basketball court, game room and lots of themed activities (the week we were there was Christmas in July, which including Santa coming to visit, ugly sweater parties, karaoke, Christmas decorations and more!). The staff were super friendly and helpful. They come around and gather your trash from your site each day. The bathrooms were always clean. And the resort offers a strong WiFi signal (bonus!). Oh, and the mountain views are incredible - we were there in the summer, but I can only imagine what it must be like in the fall when the leaves are changing! The sites are a little close together, but they've done a good job landscaping with hedges to try and create a little privacy. The camp resort general store has all the little trinkets and treasures you might need for your stay, and they offer coupons to local restaurants and attractions. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Misty Mountain is centrally located to all the area's sites and attractions: Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, the University of Virginia, the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking, tubing, and not to mention the many wineries and breweries. While you're in the area, visit nearby Crozet Pizza, a great locally-owned restaurant with some incredible food! And if you're up for a quick - but challenging hike - try Humpback Trail. It's less than two miles round trip, but the views from the top are breathtaking!! You'll be glad you huffed and puffed your way to the scenic overlook!

Overall Rating:

This park is within easy access of the freeway, yet far enough away that traffic noise is not an issue. It is well maintained, and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Interior roads are very tight for a big rig, but not impossible. Because of the cramped sites we were glad to have a pull through site. We would not have been able to maneuver a back in. The pull through sites in the newer section looked a bit more level and sunny. We had a pull through site in an older section near the creek. It was close but pleasant with a cement patio, picnic table and fire ring. The site was barely long enough for our 40' fifth wheel with our pickup parked sideways. Lots of people lined their vehicles along the toad, and that contributed to tight roads. Because of the trees we were only able to pull in two satellites on our DISH, and camp cable was limited to 10 or 12 channels that we never watch. AT&T had 3 bars LTE. The bandwidth of the camp WIFI was typically useless. There are a lot of seasonal campers, but they were friendly, and their rigs are well maintained. We would definitely stay here again even though it seemed a bit pricey. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first time visiting Misty Mountain Camp Resort. It was a really nice campground. Check in was easy and staff was very nice. They had plenty for kids to do. My kids practically stayed on the bounce pillow. They had a food truck set up on the weekend which was very convenient because, after a long drive, I did not want to cook. We visited Monticello, Montpellier, Luray Caverns and Frontier Culture Museum. We had a blast. There was so much to do. I will definitely stay here again. Tips for other Campers:

If you have children try the Frontier Culture Museum. We rented a golf cart there. It was really cool. They had farms set up from Africa, Germany, America from the early 1600 - 1700's. Also Luray Caverns was awesome!

The staff was very nice, however this CG is not made for big rigs. We have a 41 ft motorhome and it was very difficult to maneuver to get to the campsite. The campsite was big enough once there. Perhaps an escort would have helped us. There was a lot of rain in the area and the staff made sure we did not get a pull thru site that had potential to flood, which was very nice of them. I don't think that the CG owners should allow their dogs out loose on the CG, when the rules are for leashes for our dogs. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

It seems to be difficult to find a big rig CG along I-81 in this area. I was as specific as possible when calling ahead, but I was told that 41 ft. was not problem here. Perhaps they should not take over 37/38 ft. or help out with an escort.

Overall Rating:

We stayed in the lower full hookup section. Very nice site by a small creek. It is the one we reserved, so no problem there. The site was level and long enough for my 41' rig plus long bed truck. A bit tight getting into and the exit is challenging due to trees on the inside of the turn and a narrow road so you can't swing wide. As others have said though, you are right on top of your neighbor here. We could hear every conversation they had when they were outside. My slides opened almost into their fire ring, so we had to pull well forward to avoid a problem. The park is clean and well kept and has plenty to do for everyone. Cornhole, horseshoes, volleyball, jumping "pit" for kids, extensive game room, weekend activities (bonfire, karaoke, free ice cream, pot luck), fishing pond, and plenty of room to walk our dogs. Plus it is close to many sightseeing activities in the area. We really enjoyed our stay here and most likely would come back. The only thing holding us back might be how close the full hook up sites are to each other. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

I only stayed overnight en route to Williamsburg. This seems like a very lovely park with fully stocked store, well kept grounds, a nice modern playground with huge trampoline. Paved roads. My only complaint is that the roads are a bit narrow and with all the bushes and trees between the sites, it's hard to navigate into the spot. We had a 65' pull through and still needed to maneuver a bit to avoid the patio on one side and bushes on the other. I would stay here again, especially during the summer when the pool is open and there are activities. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Check in was fast and easy. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Site was back in, but plenty of room. Site was nearly level, but I did need to build up one side.

The staff helped me arrange for a mobile RV repairman to work on out toilet. He was prompt and did a good job.

WiFi was weak, as is typical for RV parks. Sometimes we could connect and sometimes not. I would assume during busy season WiFi would be non-available. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This RV park is close to Shenandoah NP and the Skyline drive. The fall colors were a bit dull but it was still an excellent drive. Visitors' Center was OK. Also close are the homes of James Madison, James Monroe and Thomas Madison.

We only visited Monticello (Jefferson) which was a great day. Well worth the fee ($25 pp) and time. We understand the Montpelier is also excellent, but we did not visit.

This is our second stay at this location this year. This time we were in the lower part of the campground. Water pressure was good. Cable was good and wifi was OK. The park was pretty much packed with the weekend crowd. There also seemed to be a large group that had a function there. The roads were a tad narrow to make turns to get in and out of the space with a big rig but was manageable. Some of the trees needed to be cut back a bit for the taller rigs. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Misty Mountain Resort on our recent visit to Charlottesville. It was an easy ride (motorcycle) to Monticello, Montpelier and Michie Tavern from the campground. The attendent in the office was very nice and helpfull. Gave us a tip for local entertainment. Our site was in the back of the park, up on a hill (our selection). It was nice, large, level, pull through with full hook up, gravel with grass. Fire pit and table provided. The site on our slide out side was a bit close but otherwise a nice spot. The campground offers free wifi, but like most campgrounds it was intermittent and droped out often. I was very pleased with the whole experience, my wife less so. While the mens bath house was clean and stocked, she was dissapointed that the womens was not. No hand towels or TP. So this cost them a couple of rating points. We will go back. We return to this campground whenever we are in the area. Its clean and a friendly place to stay. We travel with 5 agility dogs and there are lots of paths to walk them on and a lovely creek they can swim in - and a nice dog park or field to throw a frisbee. Spaces across from office are a bit tight, but we have parked there on previous visits without issue. This year we were near an open field and access was simple. Great country store just up the road - they make great coffee - Charlottesville is a half hour drive with choice of many good restaurants and shopping. The town of Crozet is charming and good local dining there as well. Close to Shenandoah National Park and a pretty drive though the park is an option - also good for hiking and nature walking.

We only stayed one night but were extremely impressed. Roomy pull-through in the shade. Good WiFi, good cable. Well stocked store both for RV needs and general camping. Very quiet. We don't have children but there is PLENTY for them to do. Pool with spraying fountains, jump pad (like a large trampoline), playground and beach volleyball. We didn't use them but the shower rooms were very clean and private. The laundry room was very clean. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful campground. There are four different sections ranging from full hook-up to primitive tent camping as well as cabins. The roads in the park are easy to navigate. Sites are gravel and level, average size grass area. We were in #23 - a back in with a large grass area behind us. Our site was right on the road and it was noisy, farther into the park would not be. Each site has a picnic table on a cement patio and a fire pit. The best site in the park is #4. The park is very well maintained. We had full hook up and water pressure was good. We needed to use our long sewer hose due to the placement of the connect. WiFi was good when the park was pretty empty but on the busy weekend we couldn't get on it. Verizon signal was strong. The laundry and bathrooms were very clean. There is plenty to do, two playgrounds, corn hole, big field, air pillow trampoline, a nice size dog park and a pond and the creek runs through the park. They also offer shuttles to local wineries and breweries. We stayed May 29 - June 5, 2017. We paid $52.47 a night with our Good Sam discount. Close to Monticello and other historical sites.
