Although this is a nice park with game room and pool, it was too far off interstate for us. It was well off the beaten path if just looking for a quick on and off type stay. Otherwise it is nice park and they gave the PA discount. Downside is that if you have your own golf cart, you cannot use it. They require you to rent from them. They charge $60/day with two day minimum. Not really fair. They do have a nice game room for kids as well as nice pool that includes tunnel slides. Although it is located in a rolling hill campground, note that getting there requires a steep downgrade at some point. The downgrade is not very long but does require steep "upgrade" going back. We would return again. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice setting with all the amenities: pools, mini golf, game room, laundry, etc., but minimally maintained. Not as nice as the photos.

Kids everywhere. Park is used as a field trip destination for local daycares and schools. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 5 nights. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The only down side is that they could use better WiFi system. The best spot to pick it up is around the office and pool areas. Due to the area the campground is in, it's a bit hilly. The grounds are well kept. There are plenty of things for the kids do. The only "Cell Phone" service available is Verizon, due to the campground's location. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Galax is the biggest town in the area, approx. 30 miles from the campground. The downtown area is clean, people are very friendly. The nearest store aptly named "The Country Store" is a good place to visit, has a bit of every thing, except for food. (Think Tractor Supply store) but well worth the visit.

This "resort" is part of the Legacy Resort network. It is outside of Hillsville reached by a series of country roads. The driveway in has a fork in the road, straight ahead for the office and right turn to the lower sites lot, none of which is marked by sign and to further confuse you they put a check-in type guard shack offset toward the left fork, which invites you to go right to look for office, find none at the lower site lot, then go back to other fork. And the dirt roads at the lower site lot are horribly rutted and pot-holed, great for driving a 40' + a toad on. Once at the office, we found the upper lot consisted mostly of member lots (they actually buy their lots) and the lower lot was for transient campers such as us. It took us 3 different lots to find one that would not hit "excessive slope" on our leveling jacks. And the one we were able to level on had duct tape wrapped around the water spigot, which, when turned on, created a fountain the leak was so bad. The bathrooms and showers looked like a remodel that was stalled in-progress, fairly fresh tile but buckling walls, no baseboards. Needless to say, we were not happy with this one and will not return, ever. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very old park, the VIP sites are $37/night, plus $3.00 per person per night extra to use pool and other amenities, No option, $3.00 per person a night, mandatory, whether you use them or not. Makes VIP site, $49. Nightly, for gravel lot, grass not mowed, mud holes in road. Would not recommend campground, or go back. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects average of 2 nights Passport America, 2 nights full rate. Mixed feelings about the park. It is an older park which could us some TLC. We were in the lower, probably transient, area. Power, water, sewer, cable good. Got satellite. Wi-fi is weak, as is Verizon. Camp area where we were could definitely use more attention although we were told the restrooms are A-OK. Park is heavily permanent and seasonal and geared to families. We never used any of the other facilities due to our interests which had us out of the park most days. Good for short term visits (longer if you have kids) but probably overpriced. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Lakeview is an above average family campground. We have gone several times over the past few years and it is showing some wear. The campsite pads in the lower area were not well maintained (grass is tall and in the gravel pads), however the pool area is well maintained and the new water slides were a big hit with the kids. Be warned, some folks at check-in are very rude. Everyone else was very friendly, but the check-in reception sets the mood for the visit. They are strict about the maximum number of people at the site. We didn't know and our kids brought friends which caused a major scene at check in. Had we not had guests we would have left. Likely we won't be back based on this experience. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Even though we reserved for 2 nights, we were put in for 3 nights. This was AFTER July 4th week, but they were still requiring 3 night minimum. They did not advise about a 3 night minimum when reservation was made. Credit card was charged before we even got there for the full amount. They refused to refund the extra night charged even when proof was given that we had emailed them regarding the confirmation was in error. They also do not honor Good Sam discount on holidays. Staff is very regimented. Grass was 8-12" high. Hot water was turned OFF to all washing machines. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed here right after Christmas as we visited family in town. We had several problems but they were all our fault NOT the campgrounds fault. This is because we are fairly new to RVing and from Florida so the sub freezing temps along with the constant high winds did not make for a pleasurable stay. Again not the parks fault. Although the park was staffed I believe we were the only people in the park so it did get a little lonely not seeing any other campers. A worker from the park came to check on us each morning and offered his assistance in anyway. The facilities that we used were very good. The bathrooms and showers were clean and heated. We never had an interruption in electric but water hoses will freeze when temp drops below 25. Overall a good experience and will be back for another stay when it's much warmer. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is the Passport America rate. It is a really nice campground, with clean, large sites, and easy hookups. There is a nice store on site. We will be stopping here on our return trip. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Note price was the price for the site plus the $5 activity fee for 4 people. Nice campground for the kids. There were enough activities to keep them busy. The staff is very friendly and helpful with information. Campground was well kept and clean. Site we were assigned was a little tricky to get into, and required some leveling. However, most of the sites appeared to be accessible and level. You can stay in the shaded areas or out in the open closer to the pool and activities. Dog run was good, but the grass was a little tall. We would definitely return to this campground. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great campground if you want a lot of activities. We swam in the pool, fished, shot some pool and played air hockey in the game room, played prize bingo, and participated in the rubber duck race. Even with all that, we had time to kick back and relax in front of a camp fire both evenings we were here. We had one of the VIP sites and found it to be level and private. I had not been here since it was RJ Ranch and was very fond of the way they ran the campground. I found the staff of Lakeridge to be very friendly and helpful. We will definitely camp here again. Overall Rating:

Nice campground with a lot of activities. Only problem is the sites are priced high, and then when you get there you find you must pay another 5.00 per person per night to use the pool, water slides, putt-putt, and paddle boats. (Added 90.00 to our costs.) There are no exceptions to this rule, even if you don't plan to use them. Staff is OK. Activities and craft room directors are the best. They make a special effort to get to know you and make you feel like you're family. We won't be going back because of the costs. We can stay at the beach for much less per night and get a lot more for our money. Lake Ridge needs to realize that while this resort is nice, it is not worth 80.00 per night. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We came here for one night and the Passport America book implied it was right off the interstate but it was more like 14 miles into the countryside. We called for prices and were not told there is a $5.00 per person charge in addition to renting the site. So the price quote for just 2 of us was very misleading. Front desk staff were unfriendly and ill informed. They could not give us directions BACK to the interstate and in fact gave us bad advice. The families using the resort seemed happy and busy. Our RV site was adequate and bathrooms were super clean and brand new. That part was all good in fairness to the park. Lots to do with kids if that is what you are looking for. The pool is pretty old and needs to be cleaned up. This place reminded me of a Pocono manor resort for campers that needed a face lift in the clubhouse where all the action is centered. I was really turned off by the charge for just 2 campers above the campground price that the person on the phone did not share when we called for rates. We were offended by that and it colored my whole experience. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park, but beware: it is 14 miles from I-77 which makes it not ideal for an overnight stop. Everything else is very nice. Would like to stay here for a few days as there is lots to do. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Motorhome.
