We stayed in one of the cottages. First of all, no grill....really!!?! The landscaping was unkempt, the pool house restrooms were disgusting, some of the piers were broken and very hazardously floating in the river, the cottage itself was nice but was very hard to take a shower with the hot water that came straight from hell itself. There was no cold water (this was even after adjusting the hot water heater temp) The funzone was closed, the playground was dilapidated...also, the bounce pillow had a hole in it that made jumping extremely dangerous for a young child. The refrigerator constantly leaked (on the inside and out). I feel that the website is not an accurate description of this campground. Maybe this place was awesome years ago, but definitely not the case now. We were very disappointed and will never return. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Cabin.

Overall, this is an average commercial campground. Small sites, close together, not very scenic. There's a large seasonal population and far too many golf carts that cause more traffic than the subdivision I live in. Because of that, lots of caution is needed when walking at night.

HOWEVER, the best part of this campground is the surprisingly incredible Italian restaurant, Walker's Dam Grille. It's a must when you visit! Absolutely delicious, made-from-scratch Italian cuisine served by a friendly staff. One important footnote - come with cash or check. They only recently started taking cards and the card service is unreliable. I'd travel the 45 minutes from home just to eat. Forget the camping! We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

We had a standard site which meant it had full hookups including cable (which was not very good - the antenna worked better). The site was in an open field and we were fortunate enough to have shade from the trees. The power pedestal did not have a shutoff switch so we had to connect directly to power with no protection when plugging in. The restrooms were very nice but, during the four nights we were there, the trash was never emptied. My husband commented that the commodes in the mens' room needed some maintenance. Showers were separate from the restrooms and were individual. There were vents but no air conditioning. Temperatures during our stay were in the 90s. The deluxe and patio sites were somewhat an improvement over standard sites but, other than concrete pads, had little to offer. It's not a bad campground but could use some TLC to entice more campers. We did not use the pool but it was beautiful and had a splash pad for the little visitors. I got the feeling it was more for the folks who were in the seasonal and annual sites that comprised the greater portion of the campground than for the short term visitors. There was a pavilion, a Fun Zone for kids and an amphitheater that were not open during our stay. There is a restaurant on site that is open some of the time and offers takeout. We would return if in the area only because it has more affordable rates than other campgrounds nearer the Williamsburg area. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to all the historical sites: Jamestown Settlement, Colonial Williamsburg, and Yorktown (don't miss the museum in the village - there's a trolley from the Battlefield). Premium Outlets in Williamsburg. Fishing and boating on the Chickhominy River. Close enough to the action to enjoy it but far enough away to avoid all the crowds. We didn't eat at the restaurant on site but it gets good reviews.

We were off to a rocky start due to overbooking and someone being on our new spot. However, I will say that the service provided from the staff was 5 star. They did everything they could to make it right and work for us. The bathrooms were basic but very clean. Some over brush could be handled in this park but overall, a clean campground. Nice pool, fun zone, campstore and holiday weekend festivities. The bounce pillow busted during our stay and my kids were bummed that it never was able to be fixed. No worries, there was still a playground right next to it. Overall, good campground and great staff. We would camp here again. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

It was a nice park. We stayed in lot 334 which is the closest spot to the water available. Nice decorative concrete patio and fire ring. Office staff was nice, the store has everything you could possible need camping in RV or tent. It is a large campground and we do not have a golf cart so close to office, restaurant was better. There seem to be a lot of locals / permanent but everyone was extremely nice. We will go back again. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

This is a very large campground, so in season I would suspect that it would be very crowded given its location to Williamsburg which is about 20 minutes away. We notice that some of the sites have a strange location for hookups but most do not. There's a great playground for kids and a very nice swimming pool for adults and kids along with an amphitheater for various festivals. The on site restaurant is fantastic real Italian food. Great campground in the fall and spring as it's not crowded at all, the summer could be a zoo but most campgrounds near the water and Williamsburg are. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Second time we have stayed at this campground, site the first time here was much better. Location works for us as we are visiting family that live near. As others have reported the restaurant on site is excellent. When we are back in the area will stay here again. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

We stayed here over the 2015 Memorial Day weekend. I enjoyed the campground. There were some issues. The bath house needs to be updated, it was somewhat clean but needs to be updated. The fun zone looked awesome from a distance. When you got close you could see that the birds have pooped all over the first one on the right that you come to. There was also standing water in another. The other playground was big and nice, my son enjoyed playing there. On a positive note, the campsites were nice. The sites were plenty big and spacious. We stayed in a Patio site. Good access to the River and awesome views of the Chickahominy River. The pool looked nice, but we never used it. I would stay again. We attempted to camp here on 10/9/13 but due to the very sloped, steep road entrance we were unable to do so. In fact, the road drops off so severely that our rv hit the back bed of the truck. We had to back up on the main road to keep from damaging our truck or trailer even more. We were headed west to turn on the road to the right when this happened. I had read that the entrance had been repaired at the railroad tracks thinking that was the problem but it is the extreme drop of the road before the tracks that causes the problem. I would never recommend anyone try to make this turn with a long rv. Therefore I can't comment on the campground as we never got down their road. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Rockahock Campgrounds is in the midst of a major upgrade which will place it high in the ranks of destination campgrounds in the Williamsburg, VA and Tidelands area of Virginia when it is complete. It is a very large campground with a variety of kinds of sites and amenities. We stayed their for a week in September during one of its semi-annual bluegrass festivals. Internal roads are mostly gravel and sites are level and well graded. They are pretty tight, and sewer connections from your next door neighbor my be very close to the patio pavers laid out for your site. There are much larger and more isolated sites available at a premium price. Park Wi-Fi is inadequate and in need of serious upgrade, especially when there is a crowd there, and access to cell service (Verizon) is weak, but present. Park cable is available, but limited. The towers for services are a goodly distance from the pavers, so hooking up for many rigs may require extensions on hoses or electric cables. The Park is in the midst of building a resort quality mini-golf and already has a very nice bouncer and playground. We understand that a lazy river is in the planning stages. Showers and rest rooms are large and clean with plenty of hot water. Any kind of shopping beyond basic requires a fifteen - twenty mile drive toward Williamsburg. Despite the reservations expressed here, I'd keep an eye on Rockahock as it extends its amenities and continues development. There are a number of sites with permanent residents in them, but they are carefully separated from transient sites. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Enjoyed our visit to the park; the staff were friendly and helpful. The entrance to the park has been redone so there was no problem going over the railroad tracks. We will return to the park if in the area again. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Overall this is a nice place to stay, everyone was extremely friendly and very helpful. Nice campground along the Chickahominy River, with boat launch and fishing docks on site. The entrance to the camp ground is a major concern, for this reason, we will not return to this camp ground, the back of the camper bottoms out before you go over the railroad tracks when entering and after when exiting the camp ground which scraps the back of the camper, we were camping in a 5th wheel along with the others in our party. Our group attended the Hawgs, Hosses and Hineys festival this past weekend, small bike event, but fun. Wasn’t aware of the requirement that each person (over the age of 12) camping in your party had to purchase a $45 bike festival ticket, this wasn’t conveyed when reservations were made, nor was it explained how our camp sites were set up, “Tandem Set-Up”, they have newer sites that aren’t Tandem set-up. Another concern are the fire rings, they are set flush in the ground, this is extremely dangerous. The Rockadome and Road House Bar ran out of beer and alcohol by 10:00 Saturday night, with that, our party left the facility and missed the main event in the Rockadome, this probably saved our group a couple $100 dollars. All in all, we had a good time and enjoyed our weekend at the Rockahock camp ground. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park. Great view. Was there for three days for blue grass festival. One of the best facilities for such an event. Sites were mostly grass and not real level. Not much to do close by but park most everything you may want. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

This park is very large and has access to a beautiful river. We camped with a group in an area designed for large groups. My only negative comment are their fire rings. They are set flush in the ground and can be dangerous by falling in one at night. Also, they allow any age child to drive golf carts. We found many of them from the permanent area, racing through the transient areas. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Overall it is a nice place to stay. I only have two problems and one is major. There is an overwhelming smell of sewage most of the time, BUT PARENTS BEWARE!!!! Keep an eagle eye on your children because my 11 year old was followed around the park by one of the Mexican workers. It was later in the afternoon and she was by herself. She was a little nervous after that of course. The man kept asking her personal questions that is no strangers business. We talked to the management and they said they would take care of it. We will not go back there for as long as there are workers that scare my children. We camped at Rockahock Campgrounds in a Motorhome.
