We stayed here on our way to Monticello. It looks like an old KOA campground. We have a 45' MH and are towing a Dodge 3500 truck. The roads getting to the campground are very narrow with no shoulder. It is a long drive from I-95.When we made our reservation, we asked for a pull-thru in the open. We were told we would have a pull-thru site that would fit our MH and truck. What we received was a back-to-back site. Upon check-in, we were given a map with directions to our site. There was no way we were going to get into our site because of parked cars all around our site. A man stopped us and told us to turn around and back in the other way. Another man stopped us and told us about a road that would get us to the back of our site so we could pull-thru. Luckily, the site behind us was empty or we would of never gotten into our site. They really need escorts AND better communication in the office. The park looks like an extended stay park and is not very appealing for the amount charged for the site. We camped at Small Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for a weekend while heading south. A long way off the interstate, with very narrow roads. Initially met by a dour woman who gave us our site. The layout is not logical. The first spot we did not fit in due to the slides. We were given another site. Slowly driving through the park, looking for our site, someone in a car (whom I believe was one of the managers) stopped and offered to lead us to our spot which was a pull through. At that time, another young woman came out with a big smile and welcomed us and thanked us for choosing the park. It is large and sprawling, but primarily is a trailer park with permanent rigs of varying degrees of neglect and care. It is dusty and either golf carts or pick up trucks were constantly racing by. We could not sit outside because of both. WiFi was good; cable fuzzy; water and utilities good; laundry OK. There were lots of things for the kids and lots of kids running around. The property is varied and seems to be a work in progress. I think the owners need to decide if they want to be an RV Resort or a trailer park. We were not comfortable with the speeding golf carts, the unattended kids, and the constant truck traffic. Not normal for a campground. Nothing around close for shopping or gas. Be prepared. Would not go again. We camped at Small Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed at Small Country several times over the years while in the area visiting family. Each time we return they seem to have expanded. The last time it was a very nice miniature golf course. This is a very family friendly campground. Kids appear to have a ball here. We generally stay up on the hill in the premium sites which are fairly large and level. They are open sites so my portable dish works well. Athough they do provide satellite "cable" in these sites, I prefer my own programming. Our site was gravel and nicely level. Water and electric hookups were placed well, although the 30 amp outlet in our pedistal was burned. Thankfully I have a 50/30 amp pigtail. The sewer ports in this area of the campground are raised for some reason, making it dificult to find a site where the campground hookup is lower than the sewer outlet on the Airstream. The staff was very helpful and accomodating and allowed us to find a site that would suit. OTA television is available and not bad. The WiFi in this campground has always been and continues to be terrible. Good signal strength but very poor thruput, and unfortunately Verizon is quite weak here as well. Bring a book! My wife also mentioned that the laundry facility could use some attention. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and will probably return. We camped at Small Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I have a mixed review: cons: finding your campsite and knowing which direction to go is a little confusing; not enough gravel on the campsite, a LOT of permanent campers set up. I was very excited about the lake toys, etc. and was sooo disappointed by the condition of the beach. Pros: very friendly staff; excellent miniature golf, nice pool, nice playground. This place has the potential to be an awesome campground! We camped at Small Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This facility is approximately 7 miles off of Route 64 in Virginia. The roads in are narrow two-lane country roads with no shoulders. There are adequate signs directing you to the campground. This is just an average park. The roads in the park are for the most part hard packed dirt. There are no overhanging trees, nor trees on the side of the road to snag your rig. Our site, which was a pull through, was Orange #5 and was severely sloped toward the front and it took quite a bit of ingenuity to get our rig level so the refrigerator would work correctly. Looking around most sites appear to be a mixed bag when it comes to being level. Electric and water were at the front bumper; thankfully I had extensions for both so that I could reach them. Sewer was mid coach. There was a fire pit and picnic table. Given the number of trees, it would appear that in the summer there would be decent shade. The park appeared clean and well taken care of. It was largely empty when we were here. We would not stay here again. We camped at Small Country Campground in a Motorhome.

This place is very family friendly. You get a free mini golf game for each person when you check in. The pool was fine, but there were kids there who made it not fun for us. The lake toys and bouncing pillow were huge hits with my kids. We had a nice shady spot but trouble leveling it. We were are Orange 1. Friendly people. Tips for other Campers:

We heard some people complaining about cleanliness of rental rvs/cabins so that might affect your stay. We had our own so wasn't an issue for us. There are a lot of permanent sites it seems. Our friends had yellow 1 and their site was perfectly level and right across from bounce pillow. The showers closest to us were out of service, so our other friends had to drive down to the other ones to shower. Bring life jackets for the lake!

This is a nice place. Clean grounds. Hospitable staff. The sites are a collection of all types of settings. Some in the woods, some by the lake and some out in the open on the hill. The ones on the hill pose a big problem if you are the camper in the right side row. There are two rows along the hill top. Whoever laid out these sites knows nothing about rving. The Left row backs in like normal. The right row is set up to pull straight in the site which puts your truck behind the camper in from of you. We pull a 40' fifth wheel so it was almost impossible to get my truck out after unhooking. It took some fancy driving to say the least. We camped at Small Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very large nice family campground up in the hills. Gravel roads and gravel sites with full hookups or water/electric. Both open sky and wooded sites. Sites level but narrow. OK for big rigs. Stayed in red premium site #9. Nice family pool, playground, bounce pillow, lake with beaches and fishing. On-site laundry. OK cell and over-the-air TV, very good cable and free secured but weak WiFi. Nice clubhouse and small store. Kids activities on weekends. 10 miles to Walmart and restaurants. Staff very helpful and friendly. Passport America discount only during valid weekdays though Passport America web site states no restrictions. Will stay again. Our third weekend of camping in a row took us to Small Country Campground. A pig roast for all campers that weekend is what attracted us, but it turned out to be just some BBQ, that was just OK, and a few sides. They actually ran out of food!

People there were friendly, but the campground itself was just OK.

They would only honor Passport America on Thursday night, even though their listing shows no weekend restriction, and then because of that one night discount they wanted to charge us for the "pig roast" at 12 a head. They seemed very confused.

The sites were OK, the one we ended up in was a decent size pull through with good water and electric. Many sites were very, very close together, most were not even close to level. All sites and roads are gravel, very few pull thru, most are back in sites (we were on a corner, it pulled through across the corner).

The bath house was dated but very clean, but showers offered very little hot water. Pool was already open for the season and looked nice, and they had a very nice mini golf course, one of the best I have seen at a campground. I don't know that we would return to this campground. We camped at Small Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The place was a mess. Managers/owners were unhelpful and uninterested when I tried to locate a package that had been delivered. The bathrooms have no soap or paper towels for washing hands, and just weren't very nice. My husband thought they were fine. There was garbage in our spot and fire ring. Neighbor dogs barked a great deal, another dog used field behind our spot without owner cleaning up. $5 for mini golf out of season was too much. I didn't like it and wouldn't recommend it. This is a large family-owned campground built on a beautiful 25 acre lake. It has many campsites and several long-term campers but it offers so much to do. Although it was not swimming season, the lake has 2 very nice white sandy beaches and a large pool. Our son had a blast on the "jumping pillow." Because it was Halloween weekend, they had many special activities for the children including a hayride and haunted house. They also had putt-putt golf, a small store and a large playground. We had a nice super-site, Yellow 3, so wifi and cable were included in the price. The owners and manager were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay very much. This is a reasonably nice campground, with some neat features if you have kids. The air-pillow is a ton of fun for younger kids, and we used it on near daily basis. It was too cold to get in the water while we were there, but they also have some "toys" out in the lake that the younger crowd will enjoy. The mini-golf course is pretty great, but kind of pricey ($5 per person). The sites are reasonably spaced. Most include picnic tables, and a few have fire rings.
