We loved this park. The property runs along the Shendendoah River with very nice walking and golf cart trails. The RV sites are open, but that did allow us satellite connections. There is no cable. The staff our very friendly and helpful. Electric and sewer connections were good. The tent areas were really nice and they also have a primative area which was totally beautiful. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Motorhome.

Quiet setting in an open field surrounded by "mountains" ("hills" for westerners). Beautiful views. Gravel access roads - main road is only lane and half; others are single lanes but "one way" (not really clear so traffic tends to go both ways). Sites are gravel with grass patio areas. No effective shade (young trees). Reasonable width on site but parking area for rig very narrow (about 8' so big rigs will be partially off the gravel even when centered). Pull thru sites have very noticeable slopes probably ok for 5ths and trailers (we observed the front of 5th wheel well below the top of the pickup when level at one of the sites), but most likely problematic for longer motorhomes. Backins are more level but we still needed our auxiliary step to get in to the coach due to how high the front end went to get level. Site was barely long enough to fit toad sideways.

Power mostly ok (one dropout in two weeks on a hot day, but with only a handful of sites occupied). Water 40 to 45psi, sewer ok. No problems with satellite access No cable, no over the air tv, no wifi. Verizon LTE had moderate signal and speed. Tmobile had no signal. Some of the worst trash management we've seen - a single dumpster that was emptied once in 2 weeks. They would periodically compact the trash which only broke open the trash bags adding to the very unpleasant smell at the sites near the dumpster (prevailing wind was from dumpster to sites). No recycle. No good road bike riding at campground or immediate vicinity. Stink bugs were a problem at this time of year (still finding them in the coach 3 weeks later).

Big rigs coming in from New Market should use exit 269, not exit 264 to avoid New Market center. The pass between New Market and Luray is fine as long as you are comfortable with mountain driving.

Would consider again but only if several sites away from dumpster. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Motorhome.

A beautiful, relatively new, quiet & peaceful campground along the south fork of the Shenandoah River, surrounded by picturesque mountains. Helpful reservation process. Lots of forms to sign at check-in regarding our understanding of campground rules. Well equipped campstore at entrance. RV spots are in an open, grassy field with a gravel surface on each level site. Pull-thrus & back-ins available. Not any shade as planted trees are too young. Full hook-ups well placed & worked. No Wi-Fi, but strong Verizon & AT&T signals. No cable. Tent sites, mostly with shade, are along river. One bathouse, which was very clean until the end of the day when campers came in to wash off sand from the river. The grounds are meticulously groomed, with lots of walking & golf cart trails. Golf carts are available for rent at the campstore & helpful for getting around as the grounds are vast & it's quite a hike to some of the open spots on the river. We were a family group of assorted ages, 12 to 73, and there were activities appealing to all of us, including the 4 dogs. Walking, swimming, fishing, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, or just sitting still enjoying the scenery, amazing sunrises & sunsets. A definite repeat for our annual family camps. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

I don't believe the campstore rents tubes, kayaks or canoes, but there are outfitters nearby. Also, you can arrange with those outfitters to drop you off upstream & pick you up downstream after a float. The campstore has info as to how to make contact. There is a Walmart, Food Lion & ABC store nearby. Lots of restaurants & gift stores in Luray. Luray Caverns are right down the road & The beautiful Shanandoah National Park is a short drive away.

Arrived at park after exact GPS routing. Owner was very helpful and informative when acquiring reservations, which made the actual registration process upon arrival very easy. Easy access, graveled leveled sites, great utilities, quiet, low night lights, few trees, security gate and views. Will return when visiting Shenandoah NP Skyline Drive that is 20 minutes. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Motorhome.

We loved this quiet, beautiful campground. It sits above the Shenendoah river with mountains surrounding it on 3 sides. This park is only 5 years old but they have done an excellent job of making large, level sites with full hook ups, beautifully mowed walking/ biking trails, a nice small playground and lovely primitive tent sites right on the river. They rent golf carts which can be used on the trails to the river as well. They have two small ponds for catch and release fishing and during the warm months you can swim, tube, canoe, or fish from the Shenandoah. Very friendly and helpful workers with a nicely stocked camp store. Peaceful and secluded, just outside of Luray, but only 5 minutes to Walmart. We stayed for a week and loved it. Very well maintained campground with lots to offer. Quiet and peaceful but less than 5 minutes to town. Friendly and competent staff. I had a problem with my truck and the manager drove me to town to pick up some parts. We plan to return to this park in the future. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

A very openly space campground. Parking surface was gravel and site was grassy. Tent sites separated from RV sites. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy access to river to raft. No WIFI or cable but plenty of local channels but who need these if rafting down the river.

Very quiet campground after dark which is hard to image these days. Nighttime security a big plus. Overall cleanliness of campground was excellent however, needs improvement in the bathrooms as there is a total of 3 stalls per bathroom and with people coming off river to wash off a lot of mud/dirt accumulates on the concrete floors and also not much privacy in the stalls. We would come back again. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Motorhome.

As some other reviews indicate, this is a very beautiful campground. It has an expansive feeling because it's surrounded by a lot of open space. It's very peaceful and spacious and has tons of river access. The RV sites are wider than average, level and well-maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Though its top amenities are the wide sites, beautiful views and easy river access, the staff is working to improve the property and will, in time, offer premium sites, Wi-Fi and other amenities that some campers might be missing. We feel that it's perfect now, just the way it is. We would camp here again. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Motorhome.

Lovely new (5 years) campground with friendly owners dedicated to making it a great camping experience. Acres of mowed trails for walking or golf carts. Many tent sites and lots of amenities for tenters, like 2 wheel carts for toting your stuff down the hill to the campsites right on the Shenandoah river. Lovely playground. Wi-Fi is planned. RV sites are level, gravel and grass. Full hookups. Lots of young trees meaning more shade in years to come. Many tent sites are in the woods and shaded. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful RV park with strong water and 50 amp power, large and level sites, and several activities for families. The "primitive" sites are separate from the larger RV sites, either along the river or in another section specifically for tents. It is lush and green throughout, and there are nice paths for walking along the river and around the rest of the property. "Tubing" down the river can be done by renting their inner tubes, purchasing one at the office, or bringing your own. Each site has a table and fire pit, and the office sells wood for a reasonable price. Bathrooms and showers are clean and in good condition. There was no park Wi-Fi, but our Verizon phone signal was strong. Access to the Skyline parkway is about 25 minutes away, and grocery stores are located within 5 miles or so. Access to sites is gravel, and the sites are dirt/gravel. Our jacks did sink into the ground a bit while we were there. This campground is very quiet, being off the main road about a half mile. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet while we were there, along with the beautiful view of mountains all around us. We would definitely come back here, and hope to be able to stay longer next time. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Motorhome.

Staff is wonderful!! They brought by wood thru out our stay to see if we needed any, and asked how things were going. Being that this is there 2nd season there are very little mature trees. They were putting several bigger trees on the day we left. They had an issue with the women bathrooms, but were right on top of it & had port-a-johns brought right in. On the day we left the manager stopped by our site & thanked us several times for choosing them for the Memorial Day weekend. We WILL Stay here again soon! We wanted to spend the weekend near Luray and kayak on the Shenandoah River. A local livery suggested Outlanders River Camp to us. This is a brand new campground that apparently just opened last summer. The tent campers had the river front spots, but they had to go up and down a pretty steep hill to get to those campsites from their parking lot. Nice frontage on the Shenandoah River. The RV and pop-up sites were located in a flat field, side-by-side. You could not see the river from the RV sites. The bathroom was very clean. There were many tent campers, but in the RV section there were two pop-ups and us. The price per night was pretty expensive: $50.00/night for an RV site. We could have stayed in a hotel for less in Luray. We drove around and visited three other campgrounds in the area and they were all pretty full with alot going on. We feel the high price of this campground kept many from coming here. We prefer a busier campground than this one was. We won't be going back. We camped at Outlanders River Camp in a Travel Trailer.
