Exceptional campground. Clean showers, clean flush toilets and a clean site. Full electrical. No Verizon. Water is also not at the campsite but is available between the two large parking areas. (Or, if you're there for a long stay, you may need to disconnect to refill water, as you would if you need to dump.) Only C loop is reservable (17 sites and one for a host). This is relatively open with few trees, and sites are level. B Loop has 12 first come, first serve sites with electrical. Similar to C, but a few more trees. A loop is non-reservable, non-electric, and posted for no RVs over 28 feet. Less level and many tight turns and short sites. Clearly designed for tents, small trailers, camper vans, etc. This is clearly a very popular site with locals. Mid week early April in cold weather the C loop was fully booked, and only a few sites were available in the nonreservable B loop. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Great campground! Level gravel sites, well spaced, and an incredible value. We stayed in B loop, which had electric (for an additional $5/night), but no water. Big fire pits with swing grills and even hanging arm for pots or kettle. Each site has a bear-proof food storage locker, which seems to have successfully deterred bears from bothering to come around. Camp hosts rake each site after departure, so new arriving campers are welcomed to a very neat, evenly raked gravel site. A loop is more hilly and woodsy, but mostly tents and the smallest of RVs. C loop is reservation only, and is the most wide open and treeless. B loop FCFS. Absolutely no Verizon signal. Park rangers make very frequent "compliance runs", so don't even think about breaking any rules. (They are extremely friendly and helpful, however.) The "alcohol prohibited" signs were not notices, but were posted as "warnings". Very strict and intimidating for those of us who enjoy a cold beer after a hike or glass of wine with dinner. (But that is a statewide park rule, not just here). We will definitely return to this lovely campground. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Serious hikers should find good trail maps before arriving. The park trail maps are terrible and inaccurate.

As always this jewel is clean, well maintained, with clean bathrooms & showers.

C loop has electric hookups only, but there is a water fill, & dump station.

A & B loops are first come first served, but A loop is for tents & small units like pop ups. There are two lakes for fishing & swimming, with a nice beach area, and a playground. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful National Forest Campground in a little valley deep in the mountains. The campsites are level and well kept up. There is 50 amp electric service, but no water or sewer hookups. Some campsites are in the open, and in these satellite TV is available. There is a nice fireplace and picnic table at each site. There is fishing in the two lakes in the campground, as well as swimming in one of the lakes. The campground is a few miles from any sizable town, so be sure to take enough groceries to last during your stay. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

This is our favorite park, as always, it was clean well taken care of, with clean bathrooms & showers. C loop has electric hookups, sites are fairly level & range from open to shaded. Has some very nice hiking trails for everyone from the easy to the more difficult, for the experienced. Two small lakes, the upper for fishing, & the lower for swimming & fishing, both are stocked with Trout, Bass & Catfish. There is a fresh water fill & a dump station, (which didn't have any water this time as it was under construction), no big deal as you can still dump. Great location for touring the Northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We will be back, hopefully a few more times this year. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

What a wonderful place to camp! This campground has level gravel lots with easy access with our 38ft 5th wheel. No water hookups, but there is a water fill station through the parking area on the left as you enter the park. The bath house was clean and well maintained. The lakes and trails around the lakes made for great family hikes. Peaceful and beautiful. My family had an awesome experience here and will be back again. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Really nice area and campground. Nice spacing between sites, and decent privacy. The camp hosts were delightful people and everyone we encountered in loop C was friendly. As noted already, there is no cell phone service, Wi-Fi, or OTA television. One really feels cut off from the rest of the world, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. There are only 4 sites in this campground that are rated to handle 40 ft rigs. These sites are in probably the only area in the entire campground that trees don't interfere with satellite reception. It seemed that all of the other sites were heavily treed. The lower lake, beach, and day use areas were very crowded on the weekend. The C loop, next to the upper lake, was a very peaceful place, away from the crowded day-use areas. This was our first visit to this CG and as soon as we returned home we made reservations to return in the fall. We are fans. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We got the last available site on Loop B, which was good because the only other available sites for non-reservation holders were on Loop A. Those would have been too tight for us to get even our 25' trailer into. The ranger said it would require some "strategic driving". Our site was large and level. The faucet to fill up the water tank is located between two parking lots and not very clearly marked. The faucets in the campground don't have threads so you can't hook up a hose. The park is up in the mountains and the roads in the area are a challenge. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Sherando Lake is a family favorite. The sites are wide and most are shaded. The sites are well kept, and the camp hosts are always friendly and helpful. Make sure you check out both lakes! The facility is well maintained and has many family-friendly things to do. The hiking in the area is great. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

A favorite camping spot that honors the U.S. Government senior citizen passport (half price). Area clean, beautiful, well-kept. It is IMPORTANT to follow rules concerning food storage. Careless people risk night visitors! I highly recommend this campground. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Tent.

It's a beautiful wooded CG. Loop B has electricity and some sites have water too. Bathrooms are OK, but no heat so cold on chilly days (it was in the 40's when we were there, which is very cold for 2 Florida types). Showers have hot water. We saw a bear when leaving. Our rate reflects the National Park Senior Pass discount. There is absolutely no cell service at all. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Absolutely breath takingly beautiful park in between the mountains, with stream and lake. Tight for a larger MH but will handle 40ft. The place to go if you want to get away from it all. And I do mean all. NO phone or Internet. I mean none. We had to have phone service so we had to leave. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Me and my family stayed at Sherando Lake over the holiday weekend. We enjoyed our stay very much. We stayed in a tent but noticed how wonderful the Motorhome sites were. There were many family things to do here. There is hiking, swimming, fishing. The views are beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. A short drive will take you to gas stations and country stores. We will stay here again for sure, next time in our Motorhome. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Tent.

A Blue Ridge jewel. Water and electric with a dump station. Sites are pretty level and well cared for. Bathrooms are clean with plenty of hot water. This has become one of our favorites and it's a great base camp from which to tour the Blue Ridge Parkway. Two beautiful little lakes to swim & fish in and some great hiking trails. We camped at Sherando Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.
