Our third visit as we travel north and south. Not far from highway but no highway or truck stop noise. Stayed hooked up as the site was level. We are 60 feet including truck, and the site was plenty long for the combo. Definitely will stay there again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

For the second time this year, we stopped for a few days while passing through the area. We enjoyed this stay just as much as the first time. We were able to choose our site because of the small number of people there, and picked site 45. It is a great pull thru, cement pad with no leveling issues. Again, the W/E/S were all great as were cable and wifi. We didn't find anything in the area for us to do, so we just chose to relax at the site for a few days. The staff is very nice and helpful. If we are in the area and need a place to stop, we'll go out of our way to stay at Ft Chiswell! We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very good overnight stop along Interstate 81. Easy access and wide open park, easy to get around the campground to site. Office staff was very good, no issues and friendly. Liked the concrete pads at the site which also was a pull-through. Would recommend it and not hesitate to stop here again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

A clean, comfortable park. Nothing fancy but a good overnight stop off I-81. We reserved and stayed in a pull through site with a concrete slab. Our site had a partial slab, covering only about the distance between the front and rear axles of our 40' motor home, reasonably level. Gravel on either end of the slab. Sites were close together in our section but not unreasonably so. Did not need to unhook toad. However, looking across the park's access road to the gravel only sites, many seemed more level, wider, easier to access and preferable to the one we occupied, although with some trees that could block satellite TV. Seemed to be several seasonal sites, and some even quasi-permanent with skirting around trailers, but not unsightly. Plenty of grassy areas to walk the dogs. Close to I-81 but no road noise to speak of. All in all, a satisfactory stop and we would return. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is a real nice find for those who are traveling and need a nice clean place to overnight. The gravel site was level-ish and shaded, water tasted fine but they used to mine lead in the area back in the day (1700's) so who knows what might be in it ( I don't). We used it for showers with no problems. The road/hiway is close but not an issue for sleeping. The park is surrounded by sheep pastures and is very pastoral. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very pleasant setting right off interstate. There was a sheep pasture on one side and a cow pasture on another. The sites were mostly pullthroughs, relatively narrow, and gravel. Front office staff very friendly and check-in was flawless. The three nights we were there, they were full. Seems as if this is a good stopover for snowbirds traveling south. Would highly recommend making a reservation if traveling in October. Our first site was situated whereby we had to back out because a tree was located so closely to the front left of our site making it impossible to exit going forward. Would come back again for a one-night layover. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice park with a huge pasture of sheep and cows around it. We remember this park for the cow that was wearing long black sox (so it looked!) Nice big area with bridges over the pond to have a walk. No dog park but the dog sure enjoyed the cows and sheep. Easy to find off the highway. Very nice open feeling to this park. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Convenient to I-81 and easy access to sites through some paved but mostly gravel roads. Some treed, some open sites with one area with cement pads. Sheep meadow on hill to the one side, cattle in meadow to other side. Utility connections were handy, very good water pressure, good campground wifi with very good Verizon 4G LTE signal. Attractive, clean, low-cost laundry. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sites can be tight depending on where parked, some are well shaded and some are full sun. No noise was heard from nearby I-81 over the hill. Power, sewer and water connections are well located and were good. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice clean park, sites were very close, but did not cause a problem. All sites looked level. Park would fill up every night with overnight stays. We stayed a week in a travel travel. Lots of green grass for the dog. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Although easy access from I-81 it very rural and no highway noise. Long level gravel site with grass between, excellent restrooms. Cable TV and very good wifi. At this time of year it is a busy overnight campsite. We stayed 3 nights to visit this part of the Blue Ridge Parkway on our way south. We chose to stay in an open no tree site which was rather narrow but the sites 1-26 which have a few trees are much more spacious. We certainly recommend. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice campground that sits in a valley surrounded by a cattle and sheep farm. The sites in the shady section are very nice and if you're going to stay a few days you I would suggest requesting them. We have stayed here a bunch of times on our trips along I-81 and its always been great. Nice people, grounds are very well taken care of, easy to get to the interstate, it will not disappoint you. Good cable, Verizon works great. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We always stop here going to and from our winter destination. Just off I-81 but no road noise. Staff is friendly and check in easy. Utilities all worked fine. We were on a grassy site but most are gravel. There had been a lot of rain but the site had no puddles. If thinking about stopping here you should call for reservations. This place fills up every time we have been here. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
