Great park. Quiet. Cows and sheep on surrounding properties. So much room to run your dog. Friendly folks. RV parts, and ice cream novelties at the office. Clean laundry. Gravel sites, all pull-throughs, took two tries to find the best level. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Utilities, including WiFi with our amplifier, worked well and were in the right position. Site was level and easy to access. Site 13 gave clear access to satellite for TV purposes, but some sites do not. Staff efficient, courteous, and helpful. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

What a delightful small park. I would go back to visit in a heartbeat. The office has a nice selection of beer and North Carolina wines. Pool was great and we had it to ourselves. Plus it was heated! Lots are very generous. We stayed in a 40" motor coach and our son has a 45' toy hauler. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Site 3 was level, solid and roomy. There was plenty of space to walk our dog. The facilities worked perfectly. The only negative I can think of is that there were no hooks in the shower area to hang clothes, towels or shower items. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in early March. The temps were in the 20's, so we followed staff advice not to leave our hoses out at night to prevent freezing. We stop here 2-3 times a year. It is a convenient breaking point on our way to visit family. The campground is clean enough and convenient to I-81. Staff have always been welcoming and competent. A good spot for getting off the road. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

We pulled in to avoid an early spring snowstorm. The staff is friendly. The sites are all pull thrus and long enough to leave the car on the dolly behind a 35' RV. Minimal leveling is required. The utilities are placed well and easy to use except the sewer hookup was angled making it hard for the fluids to properly flow. The are a lot of cable channels. The WiFi is acceptable and there is a table at each site. Propane is available. We suspect it is really nice when you can use the pool and the leaves are out. The sites are close to each other but not unbearably so. We would come back again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Love/pilot gas station next door has four RV pumps in the truck area for convenience. Lots of restaurants are nearby. Very easy access to 77/81.

Ft Chiswell is a regular stop for us, usually for 2 nights, as we head south or north on I-81 and I-77. The check-in staff is always pleasant and accommodating, and the sites are easy to reach with even the largest rigs. Our pull-through site this visit was on the upper side with a concrete slab that almost made leveling unnecessary. The utilities were well placed and easy to reach for hooking up. We do prefer the lower section though, where the pull-through sites are a little wider, but with no slabs. The water on that side was shut off due to extreme low temps this trip, so we opted for the other section where insulated water taps were available. We didn't use the free WiFi or cable this time, although they have worked satisfactorily in the past. Our AT&T and Verizon cell signals were strong, and our site had a good satellite view. We will be back on our next trip by. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Wytheville, VA is just a few miles away with many restaurants and stores. For a quick meal, there's a Denny's at the Flying J you pass just before getting to the park. The Flying J also has a Blue Beacon truck wash if you need to clean road salt, etc. off your rig.

Like many visitors, we just stayed overnight. Since it's a pretty big park and caters to overnight stops, and it was mid-October, we almost didn't make a reservation but it's a good thing we did! The park was full by early evening. The section of pull-throughs we were in had very tight sites, fine for overnight but not much more than that. Another section had sites that looked almost twice as wide. Our site also had a steep incline at the beginning, then a level concrete pad for our motorhome, then uphill again at the the end. There's a nice grassy field for walking dogs. Both Verizon and AT&T worked well. We'd definitely stay again for an overnight stop, or maybe a longer visit in one of the wider sites. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed for just an overnight. Very convenient on and off the highway and had a pull through site long enough for the toad so didn't have to unhook. Very pleasant stay! Will definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Only an overnight stop for us, but this park had what we needed: easy off the interstate, friendly, easy check-in, reasonable rate, long, level site with full hook-ups. Sites are a little close but not like a KOA. They had cable TV, Wi-Fi that worked, and clear view for satellite with a few trees and grass. We would return. When we arrived it was a ghost town but by late afternoon it was full so best to make reservations. We had one of the sites with a concrete pad which was level and long enough there was no need to unhook toad. Other sites were gravel. Easy big rig access. Bath house and laundry were clean. The sites are close together. Very quiet park. We stayed one night and would return if in the area. We were in a 40 ft motorhome. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Just a two night stay for us, but a good location. Site was level (gravel), with grass between the sites, and a picnic table. Some shade. Utilities all good. The site was long enough for our motorhome and tow car. Not far from the Interstate, but quiet (not much road noise). We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than an hour away - we especially enjoyed the Blue Ridge Music Center and the Mabry Grist Mill. Flying J near the campground ("RV pump lane" can be a challenge when exiting - we went around the building). Plenty of restaurants and shopping in nearby Wytheville.

This was an overnight stop while traveling north. Only a half mile from the intersection of 81 and 77. The park is well laid out and all sites appear pull though. Our site was close to the front of the park but no traffic noise. The site was grass/dirt but had a very good concrete pad for your coach providing a solid level base. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stopped for an overnight. The park is easy to get to off of the interstate. It is very quiet, thanks to a ridge between the interstate and the park. The staff was professional. Excellent park for my purposes. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.
