Our second stay here. More than fine for an overnight and would work well short a short stay to see the sights. Definitely on the good side of average. OK wifi. Convenient to I 77/81. Clean restrooms and showers. Site surface is dirt and lot has a picnic table. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground for an overnight stop. Far enough from the interstate that you don't know it's there. Only stayed here one night while traveling. Would stay here again if passing thru. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nightly rate reflects one week plus 3 nights plus tax with Good Sam discount. This park is laid out very nicely. Most sites are pull through with full hook-up service and cable TV. Laundry facility was clean; only $1.50 each for wash and dry. Ladies restroom was clean and spacious. Showers had good hot water and water pressure....even had piped in music! Clientele is mostly 1 or 2 night stays. Owners are professional. The office has an assortment of RV supplies along with some wine from local wineries, a book exchange, and pamphlets for local attractions. The park is very quiet even though it's not a mile from the interstate. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stopped for an overnight stay and never even unhooked our truck. The people in the office were extremely friendly. There were plenty of grassy areas to walk our dogs. There is a pool that was clean an inviting but sadly we didn't have time to use it We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

I always get a little nervous when I see a campground that is adjacent to an Interstate highway, but when I saw the 8+ rating on Fort Chiswell, I wanted to give it a try, even if it was 60 miles further than I had planned to drive that day. And I am happy to say that this CG is a gem. I don't know how they do it when it is situated less than a half-mile from busy I-81, but it was peacefully quiet all night. We even slept with the windows OPEN, and I could barely hear anything from the highway. The sites were nice, it was quiet, the utilities were good, it was quiet, we watched the cows, it was quiet, we didn't use the rest rooms, oh, and it was quiet. No question, we would be happy to stay here again, and again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This parks just off the interstate, just behind a high hill that provides some degree of quietness and comfort. Access to the park and within the park is easy to navigate. There is a large section of pull thru but parking is tight. I had problem pulling out because two campers had car trailers behind their pushers and the turns were tight. Not the campgrounds fault that the campers stuck out in the road. Ask for sites 1-10. Those sites pull directly out into the park road.

I used the showers, well maintained, clean and modern. Even had Christmas music playing !!

Skip the Mexican restaurant across the street. Muy malo! We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Our pull thru was around 65 x 30 with decent grass space between sites. Site was level side to side but steep climb out of the site. Utilities looked new. No satellite reception due to trees. Good location for an over nighter. Good value. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed just one night. This place was recommended by a friend. Bathrooms and showers were some of the cleanest we've experienced. They were spotless when we arrived in late afternoon. We did not use the showers, but they were large and roomy. The staff was very friendly and courteous.

They sell propane by the gallon.

They are near I-81, but far enough to be nice and quiet at night.

They do have Wi-Fi, but as is usually the case it was to weak to bother with from our camper. That cost them one point, otherwise I'd have given them a 10.

We'd definitely stay there again and we recommend it. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for 1 night passing through. It's convenient to the interstate, but far enough away to be peaceful. The restrooms, showers, and heated pool were all clean. The grounds were clean. The sites were spacious, level, and had picnic tables. There are no fire rings, so I assume no fires are allowed. The front middle pull through sites had some shade. The guy in the office was friendly. It was reasonably priced, but you have to pay an extra $2 per night for more than 2 people over the age of 16. The rules say to not move the picnic tables off the concrete slabs, so when it rained, we had to sit under the awning with our dinner plates. That was fine, but it would have been nice to move the table under the awning. We'd stay here again if passing through. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is great for an overnight stay when driving I-81. It is close enough to the interstate to be convenient, but far enough off to not have any road noise. The campground is well maintained. Bathrooms are very clean. Campsites are relatively level. We would definitely stay here again! We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed one night going to N.C. from KY and then again on the return trip home. Park is always quiet and convenient to many fast food places. The staff are always friendly. Sites are level and some are shady...most are pull thru. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We had never been to this area before. It was easy to get to: minus the road construction on the bridge over the freeway. It was surprising quiet for being so close to the highway. We went to stay so we could ride motorcycles, and had a good time doing that. The area is not good for tourist type activities when we were not riding, those were pretty far away. Most campers just stayed overnight so we always had new neighbors. Plenty of room for walking our dogs. There was a pool but we didn't swim, and a pond that had some amazing large fish next to a quiet creek. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We ate at Graze restaurant in Wytheville which is located in the Bolling Wilson Hotel. It was excellent and well worth the drive. We also dined at the Mansion at Fort Chiswell, which I would pass on. It claims to be farm to table, but has a laminated menu so how can you change with the seasons?

A short distance off of 81/77 but a ridge between makes the park quiet. Mixed site surfaces, ours was gravel and level. "Systems" were fine. Wifi is good. Good base camp for natural and other entertainment in the area. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground that sits in a valley surrounded by a cattle and sheep farm. The sites in the shady section are very nice and if you're going to stay a few days you I would suggest requesting them. We have stayed here a bunch of times on our trips along I-81 and its always been great. Nice people, grounds are very well taken care of, easy to get to the interstate, it will not disappoint you. Good cable, Verizon works great. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
