This park was OK. We had a pull through site which was long enough but not level front to back. In addition, the site was very narrow, nearly touching our neighbors. This was true only in our section of the park. Some of the other sites had very adequate space and some had concrete pads. On the plus side, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Lots of folks seem to use this as an overnight stop. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is about 30 miles from the Blueridge Parkway. The Fort Chiswell Mansion built in 1839 is within a mile or two. They have excellent food and provide a nice tour.

Our pull thru was around 65 x 30 with decent grass space between sites. Site was level side to side but steep climb out of the site. Utilities looked new. No satellite reception due to trees. Good location for an over nighter. Good value. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice campground. They have some nice long pull thru sites that allow big rigs to stay hooked up. They have 50 Amp FHU available. Many overnighters. The park is older but clean and tidy. ATT & Verizon work well. Plenty of clear sky for satellite set up but also some trees. Restrooms are clean. No train or Hwy noise. Internal roads are gravel and pads are gravel and grass with a few having concrete patios. Sites are well spaced and many 60+ feet long . Easy on/off the I-81. Will stay again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here one night and found it to be satisfactory. Sites were grassy and ours was a slightly unlevel but not enough to be a problem. Host was very friendly and helpful; wifi was satisfactory. Convenient to the interstate, but far enough away to have no noise. Beautiful setting, surrounded by pasture land. We would not hesitate to stay at this campground again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed for two nights while up to Lake Erie. The park itself was nice and quiet. However when you check into the office, you have to park in front of the first row of RV sites, which is where our site was located. It was very noisy the two afternoons we were there because of all the people checking in and not turning off their engines while at the office. It seemed like most people there were staying a night or two, so we saw a high turnover in two days. The electric and water were fine, Wi-Fi was acceptable. Not much around the immediate area other than some chain restaurants and a few mom and pop places, not much for tourism. We would stay again if traveling through. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Park has easy access to I-81 and I-77. It had just rained and the sites were muddy. Also not level. Some of the sites had concrete pads but they were all occupied. There was a lot of junk stored near the front of the park which distracted from the overall appearance. Park is good for an overnight and we would return. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped in 45 foot motor home. Interior roads and site drives are mostly gravel with some having cement pads. Easy to access sites. Free Wi-Fi was very fast. Satellite TV was possible from many sites, but trees blocked some. Free cable was available. Verizon cell phone had 4 bars. Easy access from I-77/81 with almost no traffic noise. Very friendly office staff. Easy in and out. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is a mix of long term/permanent RVs and one night stops. Not a lot to do locally, and only fast food outlets available. If you want to eat out you need to drive 10 miles for Ruby Tuesdays and Applebee's, not many other options. Our cable TV picture was mediocre quality. Staff were friendly. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Site was deceivingly unlevel towards the front, fifth wheel could not stay connected to the truck, but motorhomes would probably be OK without having to unhook towed vehicles. Noticed others were assigned level sites, some with concrete pads. Close to the highway, very easy access to and in the park with our larger RV. Quiet at night. Good for an overnight stop, albeit a bit pricey for the off-season and no amenities other than full hookups, but it is convenient to I-81 and I-77. We would stay again as an overnight stop. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Quite simply put, this is a nice stop and go. Park is on the older side of life, and on weekends can feel like a RV sales lot as sites are TOO close together. Lots of families for the weekend and pool was always full. Still not a bad park for the money, I just wouldn't call it a resort. We would stay here again if I needed a overnighter. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Camped in a 45 foot motorhome on site 47. Easy access from Exit 80 off I-77/81, but far enough not hear interstate traffic. Some interior roads paved. Most interior roads are gravel as well as sites are gravel and grass. Many long pull-through sites were available in the section we were in. Good Verizon digital signal and easy access to satellite TV. Few trees on some sites, so campers looking for alot of shade won't find much. 11Mbps WiFi was available and reliable. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is an older park. It is normal for this type of park to be hit or miss, for the site you get to fit a 43 ft, full wall slide and be level enough. It did this time, but the site I got 3 years ago would not. It is real close to I-81 and a Flying J, so it is handy and not a bad stop. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I found this to be an excellent campground to spend the night or to stay at if visiting someone nearby. There were few shade trees and it was more like a campers' parking lot. I saw few people outside their rigs at fires or picnic tables. I didn't see any children. WiFi worked great, better than in most campgrounds. It was quiet, clean and we would spend the night there again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
