Not a bad place, we enjoyed swimming in the Pond and the Pool. The Staff was pleasant and accommodating. The Restrooms were OK but you had to hold the handles down until completely flushed, not many people did. The Showers looked dirty so we passed and showered in the coach. Tough entry road due to crossing the Railroad Tracks we dragged our Tow Dolly at the Hitch as well as our Exhaust Pipe. Our site was sloped forward and when I leveled the coach the front wheels were of the ground, I had to back up further in the site to keep the wheels on the ground. The site I was on had 2 posts covered with a PVC pipe and a cap next to the concrete pad, they're there to keep you on the pad, unfortunately they force you to move your coach back and forth to clear your cargo doors and steps. When I pulled out with my car in tow and I made the swing out of the site and drug the rear half of my coach on the PVC covered post, most of the melted PVC came off the paint but I damaged my rear cargo door. This wasn't the Camp Grounds fault but if you stay on one of these sites be careful pulling out. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a lovely family place to camp. It's a large campground as in acreage, lots of grassy areas, ball field, pavillions large and small. The turn off the hiway with the immediate railroad crossing is noteworthy but we had no bottoming out. Tracks were used but train is far enough away to not be intrusive. Nice big pond/lake with water slides. Staff is very accommodating and cheerful/friendly. It's obvious a lot of hard work goes into keeping this place in such good shape. The restrooms were clean but old and with some exposed pex plumbing. The mirror over the vanity doesn't work at all for anyone 6' 2". Maybe at 5' 8"? I doubt satellite TV reception would be very good here as the campground is full of oak trees for shade. We don't travel with a TV so I have no idea how the OTA would be. Wi Fi only works around the office. Our T-Mobile service was good enough for our internet needs. Would definitely stay here again if in this area. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

There is a lot of Civil War history in this area and other points of interest as well. We thoroughly enjoyed Appomattox Courthouse NHP. We enjoyed the "living" history as presented at the tavern.

We have a 40 foot motorhome and tow a car, so the problems (which were many) would not apply to the smaller rigs. Be aware of a very huge railroad track hump as you turn off the main road to the campground; you will tend to bottom out. The campground has many speed bumps much taller than necessary to slow traffic. As we squeezed though the narrow gate opening and tall unattended gate house, the tree lined gravel road was narrow and undulating; tossing the RV about as we crept along, noticing how sloped the sites appeared for the permanent residences. All were neat and clean. Finally approaching the registration area, we could see why the reviews could have been positive. A cute pond was behind, with attractively covered picnic tables dotting the shore. A huge water slide stood in the middle of the pond (lake?). Friendly employees hard at work planting flower beds and laying mulch. I won't go into a lot of details describing how difficult it was getting into a site without damaging the rig. Finally settled, the park was very quiet and you had to listen for the distant train noise. Electric seemed fine, but water pressure appeared very low. TV signal off the air was great. Leaving the campground we scraped the entire side of the rig in order to avoid hitting the gate shack which had evidence of others not being so lucky. There is no need for that. I suggest they remove the shack. I could not recommended this campground for a big rig you care about until they improve a few things. It obviously is well cared for, but they need to grade their roads and campsites better and widen the turns before worrying about plants and grass. Trim the trees back and lower speed bumps. I would though, return in a much smaller rig. (I would still hate the speed bumps and guard shack). We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here from January 2018 - May 2018 on a monthly fee rate which was cheaper than the daily rate. This is our 5th campground and this place is very nice and reasonable. The staff on hand is very friendly and they put time and effort into making this park fantastic. The are constantly improving camping spots and grounds. Site had full hookups. Would recommend this park to anyone! We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Virginia is beautiful and this is a very nice park. Clean and neat. Most of the transient sites are shaded but we wanted a sunny site for our satellite dish. They were kind enough to accommodate us by letting us stay in the seasonal section. We were here to visit family and they were going to stay at the park also. At first their site was all the way across the park as far from us as you can get. When our family showed up they found them a site much closer to us without us asking. They were very accommodating. We feel the price of $48 per night is too high. The roads are gravel in the park and most of them are very rough. The paved road from the highway to the park is deplorable. (That isn't the park's fault though). The sites are extremely close together and there is no Wifi. They have a hotspot at the office, but it has no reach. Verizon cell is real good and the utilities were fine. It is quiet and relaxing. We would absolutely stay here again. We really enjoyed ourselves with our family members and were very comfortable in the park. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Just enough trees by the campsites to break up the heat of the sun, and not so many as to be in the way. The office is about centrally located in the campground, where there is a large pond that is open for swimming, with a water slide and a fountain out in the pond. Not far from the office is a swimming pool. Some of the many sites are more level than others, all are gravel. Most look like they are pretty good side to side, and front to back is easily corrected. All have fire rings and picnic tables. There is a large pavilion, and several smaller ones. The grounds are surrounded by woods. On summer nights there are fireflys everywhere. It's a very quiet and peaceful place at night. The train track is an active one and we can hear the whistles at night, but, it's not really loud.

Nice place, we hated to leave. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We had to replace one of our trailer tires, and found that Appomattox Farm and Home has a great supply of tires at a reasonable price, however, they didn't balance it. It's about 6 miles away. There is also a Tru Value hdwr close by. On 460 in Appomattox, there are many places to eat.
Appomattox Courthouse park is about 8 miles away.

We chose this campground as it was close by to a wedding we were attending. Road from Hwy 460 to campground is very rough and patched with loose gravel. We tow with a dolly and the ramps scraped the road when going over the railroad tracks.

Upon registering at the office, which is pretty far down in the campground, we were given site #9 and were told we would have to go totally around the park back close to the entrance, go around the very back row of a section in order to pull straight into our site -- they said the turns were too close for a camper to get into the site any other way. Upon following their directions to the campsite, the tree branches on the back row were so very low, they severely scraped the roof of our motorhome to the point we were afraid we would be missing air conditioners, antennas, etc. Hubby climbed up the ladder on the back of the MH and did not find any obvious damage, but I'm still not so sure that there isn't something wrong up there.

The campground is filled with permanent campers and we have no real problem with that as long as it wasn't loud. Our site was close to the entrance/exit so we were far away from the bulk of the permanent rv's. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed here when we were attending the 150th anniversary of the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Court House which 20 minutes from the park. Good hookups and long enough pull thrus but ours was a tad unlevel side to side, 3 one inch spacers under each door side tire and lowered nose of rig to level front to back. Great owners, always working, and friendly. Need work on park road from highway 460-take it slow and easy. Very quiet and we would stay again if in this area. Tips for other Campers:

Village of Appomattox has several museums that are worth a visit. It's also home to the Museum of the Confederacy and several places downtown including Baines books and coffee. The must see of course is the National Historical Park at Appomattox Court House, and walk the grounds that our men, both North and South, came to and decided on April 9th 1865, that enough blood had spilled and enough lives were lost

"Family Campground" is key here. I imagine the summer and weekends bring many local families and kids - lake, pool, playground, ball field. For camping (rv), roads need work, entry/exit to sites mostly mud and the facility disjunctive with 'add on' sites scattered over a wide (field) area over the years. WiFi available only at the office, some antenna tv reception, phone service questionable. This is a Perfect location to visit Appamatox National Park. My rate reflects Passport Am. 2 nights. On a positive note, it was quiet up until Saturday night. The staff was friendly when we registered. They put us in a fairly newer site which was completed in July. I asked at registration if our satellite would work in that particular spot. The clerk stated no one had said anything about NOT getting it. So we went to the site which I will say was pretty level for a gravel site. We let out the slides, got all set up and no satellite signal. No cable either. I will say there are a lot of things for children - playgrounds, train on Fridays, bonfire on Friday, etc. There is a hiking trail around the lake, too. We were here when the pool was closed so we can't give an opinion about that. There are a LOT of permanent campers here. In regards to Saturday night, there was loud country music blaring all over. For those who are not country music fans - be prepared for this. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

My family and I camped here 5/13-5/19. The campground appeared very clean. The restrooms were cleaned every other day and were well stocked with toilet paper. I was told by a store employee that they renovated both of their cabins and are in the process of renovating the cottage with plans of purchasing additional cabins. The store employee's were very helpful and friendly during our stay. The pool was opened 3 days before we checked out and we did enjoy that. We were told the lake is stocked with fish, but we did not fish while we were there. We stayed on a 50 amp FHU site and found that our power and water pressure were adequate. There is a Wi-Fi hotspot around the store area. There are some potholes as mentioned by previous reviewers, but there is also a 15MPH speed limit sign so if you go slow enough they shouldn't cause any issues. We have stopped here a couple times in the past and I am glad we did not listen to some of the past reviews of this campground, because we thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Motorhome.

I'm afraid I wasn't thinking "paradise" when we arrived at this park, nor during our stay. This is basically an older trailer park with some spots for transient RV's. My opinion is that several of the former reviewers were generous with their ratings. The park is fairly quiet, being off any main roads. Access is over a "pothole-a-plenty" paved road, and I had to contend with low tree branches scratching my motorhome. This is an item that really bothers me because it can be handled via inexpensive maintenance. So, this issue and several others confirmed that maintenance was sadly lacking here. I was able to get fairly level at my site, but many others were not close to level. Although I had a 50 amp hookup, my meter showed a fluctuating 108 volts, not enough to run my AC. Water pressure was less than 30 psi. The bathrooms and showers were adequate and cleaned daily. The pool and lake access look like they would be fun for kids. Each site had a picnic table and fire pit. This place may be suitable for folks in trailers wanting to visit for short periods, but not for larger units needing decent utilities and site access. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is set back about a mile from the main highway. The road from the main highway is in poor condition with many potholes. When arriving at the entrance, there is an unmanned booth and no security gates. The office/store is located halfway around the main CG road. We arrived late, drove around to the office, which was closed, as we expected, to get our site info which they said they would leave for us, and then discovered that our site was located back near the entrance. Our site was level. In the morning, I noticed that although the CG was practically empty, our site was located adjacent to their storage area where 4 or 5 old dirty trailers sat in weeds (not a pretty sight). I went over the office at 9am and the store was closed and had no posted hours. After lunch, we left for a few hours and while we were out, I received an email welcoming us to the CG and to “come down to the office to check in as soon as possible and pay your remaining balance.” Sometime during the late afternoon, I did just that, but the office was once again closed. I returned at 5:45pm and this time was greeted by a CG employee. I was not impressed with customer service after receiving that email. The public restrooms are clean but very dated. Had to hold shower valve open for shower. There is a lake with a swimming area on the property and the beach has several covered picnic tables. There are a couple of pavilions on the property, a volleyball court, softball field and game room. There is also a “barn” on the property. At least that’s what it’s called on the CG map. The barn is a small 2 story building that is located in the middle of a row of campsites. It really should be torn down because it’s about to fall down. It appears to me that this property may double as a swim club in the summer months (or did at some point in time). If we return here, it is only because we have family in the area and this most accessible CG to them. The campground as a whole seemed to need much cleanup and work. We camped at Paradise Lake Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.
