Internal roads are paved, but in poor shape, you have to really watch for all the trees when driving in the park. Our site was dirt, not very level and fairly spacious. The facilities worked well but we had to move to a site that was satellite friendly, they don't know which ones are. Staff were friendly, park WiFi is Tengo, you get 1 hour free every 12 hours and it worked well, T-Mobile cell service was spotty. The park was quiet, but the military jets from the nearby airbase are not, at least they stop flying around 10 pm. Rate is Good Sam. We would stay here again. We had a great spot backed up to the woods. Even though the area got 7" of rain in two days, the drainage ditch behind our spot flooded, but the water never reached the tires of the 5th wheel. There was a wooden deck built all around, I suspect for this very reason. The park is very big, and mostly empty. The roads need some repairs. Wi-Fi was good. Sites were level, and dog poop stations throughout the park. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

This was the loudest campground we have ever been to. The sheer volume of campers that are there is just overboard. The rest rooms and showers are clean but there are not nearly enough showers, my wife, and 10-year-old daughter each had to wait over an hour and 1/2. The Wi-Fi was expensive and there was no fire ring at any sites I saw. I like to cook over the fire but that was not possible. They have quiet hours but those do not apply to the owner approving that the band can play well past it (11 PM) if they enjoy the music. Despite what other post indicate, we were there Monday through Wednesday and there were bands every night. We have young kids as did many campers and going well past 11 PM is unacceptable in a “family friendly” campground. . This was like camping in a city. This is a huge campground in Virginia Beach. The sites are back-in and fairly level. Electric and water are good. Hookups are easily accessible. This campground gets heavy use and the staff work hard to keep it up but the use shows. All of the staff we dealt with were friendly. They get the price due to location. They had entertainment on Saturday night. Due to the price would look elsewhere. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Motorhome.Undo

We stayed here on a super-site. We originally reserved a full hookup site but were put on a list for cancellations for a super site. Well one came up and they called a week before and offered it to us. We had to move to a different site our last night but we were okay with it. The super-site was very nice with a concrete pad and nice fire ring. The picnic tables were large and had nice backs on them. The showers and bathrooms were extremely modern and clean. This campground offers four pools, a fully stocked camp store, nightly entertainment at the main pool, pet friendly and shuttle service right into the campground that will take you anywhere in Virginia Beach you want to go to. An all day pass is just $2. The office offers discounted tickets to several attractions as well. It was a very enjoyable stay even though there were a few rude campers we encountered it wasn't the parks fault. We will definitely stay there again. It was worth every penny. Nice campground. Easy to get to, sits right off a major road, but road noise is not an issue. However, campground is about a mile from an airfield and military jets and other air craft fly over late into the night. The planes fly very low because they are either taking off or landing. The noise is loud enough we had to stop conversations. However, we enjoyed watching the aircraft—so we did not mind. I only mention the noise, because this is not the place for a quiet, serene getaway. There were several nice pool areas. They offered multiple entertainment options: clubhouse, playground, cart rental and various yard games. Sites are level. There are trees throughout that offer shade, but can make getting into some sites a little more challenging. It is a typical urban campground; sites are small to average size. They do a very good job keeping campground clean. There was someone posted at a guard building each evening monitoring every vehicle that entered the campground. Good Verizon cell phone coverage and easy to get DirecTV satellite connection. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

We have been coming here for years and it has always been great. We started to notice that each year it has gotten worse. The place used to be packed and now it was hardly at 1/3 capacity. The good; the shuttle, access to the aquarium, the pools (when open). The bad; the jets have gotten worse. We were able to tolerate for the first few years, this year was awful. My head hurt so bad, ears have been ringing, I am not sure I don't have permanent hearing damage. The clientele has gone downhill. Listen, I camp and I can tolerate a lot, but the lack of rule enforcement is making for some very bad experiences. Teens driving golf carts non stop through others' sites, music from other campers WAY too loud, yelling, fighting, pretty sketchy folks coming in, and the capper for me why I will never be back - roaches. I saw a Terminex truck going through and now I know why. I saw 2 roaches near my coach and that was enough for me. I am wondering now if I need to fumigate my MH. We used to love it here. Been coming for over 5 years. We will not be back. Shame. it used t be so nice. Now it's turning into a lower class place. If I am spending close to $70 a night it's not going to be for the inner city experience. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Motorhome.Undo

This park is right in the flight path for Jet Fighters that fly out of Langley. The noise is too much. Because of that, I give this park a 4. If not for the aircraft traveling over the park with their afterburners wide open, I would easily give the park a 10. I talked with several campers during our stay who remarked that they would not be back. I would not stay here again. The park itself is a wild party that starts on Thursdays and goes to Sunday. By Monday things quiet down a lot only to start again on Thursday. There is another campground across the street but I can't imagine their park any better than this one regarding the excessive noise. This was the second time we have stayed here. Very busy park. Lots for kids to do. Shuttle to the strip stops right in the park. Handful of channels on broadcast TV. Plenty to see on cable TV. Good laundry. Be sure to lock your valuables up at night. On our first stay here my son forgot to lock up and someone rifled through our truck and our neighbor's while we slept. Nightly pool party near the main entrance can be loud and raucous. Well stocked but pricey camp store. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

We have stayed in this park for many years. We have never been disappointed. It is a very busy park with activities for all ages. It is close to the waterfront and offers free parking at the beach. Truly a family friendly park. Staff is so helpful. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Motorhome.Undo

Rate is for a super site, including tax. Sites are nice, large, level, with picnic table with chair backs, and fire pit. Renovated baths were pretty but strange. The men's room was not clean, women's was. Have you ever seen a sink with no bowl, just a slanted piece of marble? Showers looked like the rain style with a faucet in the ceiling (not good if you don't want to get your hair wet). Wi-Fi was Tengo free for an hour a day. Would expect more for the price. It is just 2 miles from the oceanfront where there is a free parking lot for the campground. There are lots of places to eat at the oceanfront. There are also lots of places to shop and to eat a short ways south. It is very close to the Virginia Aquarium. We stayed here for our maiden voyage. This is a very large campground. The staff was friendly although I had to ask for an escort to my site. I arrived just as it was getting dark and needed assistance with tight turns and getting a site with better drainage (it had been raining for a few days). The dog park is large and contains water. The jets flying overhead from the nearby base most of the day are very loud. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Motorhome.Undo

We stayed one night only on the way to the Outer Banks, in one of their super sites. Very spacious and roomy, level paved site with paved adjacent patio, nice metal table and fire pit. This time of year, very few people on a Friday staying at the park. Noticed several that seem to be seasonal or long term. Heard the Navy jets, but not at all bothersome. I do not know how old this campground is, but we found the interior roads narrow and somewhat difficult to maneuver for a 40' motorhome -- doable, but would have liked a little more swing room, particularly when exiting the campground. Super friendly front desk personnel. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Motorhome.Undo
Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $44.00
The area is flat, but there has been no attempt to level the sites which are made up of rutted dirt and dead grass. The bathrooms are beautiful but not regularly cleaned. Mine had some feces on one of the seats and trash in a shower for more than two days. The exhaust vent was covered with grey dust. All this while they were painting an outside fence to sort of look like bamboo - a clean bathroom is more important. They have it set up like the airlines where everything is a la carte - which is an interesting concept and a good way for people to save money. One has a choice of a campsite with electric, campsite with electric and water, campsite with electric, water and sewer. Cable is avaialble in another area. Each option seems to add about $5. WiFi is $5 per day. Down the street at the KOA, a place with all these items included is about the same price for everything here. A huge advantage is that this campground has their own parking lot in downtown Virginia Beach, two blocks from the boardwalk. The pool was open in early October on a sunny 80 degree day, which is commendable. No matter what any other reviews say, the jets from the nearby base ARE noisy, but that is true here everywhere. The Naval flights have been discussed and can be pretty loud at times. We had a supersite, and it was very nice, level, and clean. The staff was very polite and helpful. The dog park is huge and clean, however, our German Shepard escaped when we weren't looking. My wife was reading while the dogs exercised, and we think the Shepard opened a gate with her nose. The staff was very helpful catching her and getting her back to us. Overall, a nice place. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo
